Redskins DE Stephen Bowen (knee) said he is optimistic he will be cleared to practice sometime in the next two weeks.
The Redskins showed faith in Bowen's recovery by placing him on the active/PUP list instead of cutting him and his $7 million cap charge. Bowen is currently penciled in as the Washington's No. 4 end behind Jason Hatcher, Chris Baker, and top reserve Jarvis Jenkins. Jul 26 - 9:27 AM

Redskins placed DE Stephen Bowen (knee) on active/PUP.

It's not a surprise as Bowen is 30 years old and less than eight months removed from microfracture surgery. The Redskins appear optimistic though, as they've kept him on the roster despite a $7 million cap charge.

ESPN Redskins blogger John Keim "wouldn't be surprised" if DE Stephen Bowen (knee) opens training camp on the PUP list.

Bowen is recovering from December microfracture surgery. He was held out of all spring practices and could miss extended time in camp. Currently penciled in as the Redskins' No. 4 end, Bowen needs to prove he's healthy to secure his roster spot. Washington can save $1.98 million by cutting Bowen, but would leave $5.04 million in dead money.

Redskins DE Stephen Bowen (knee) sat out all spring practices, and may not be ready for a "major role" once training camp starts.

Bowen is a 30-year-old trying to recover from microfracture surgery, a tall feat for even the most physically fit. He's currently penciled in as the Redskins' No. 4 end, behind starters LE Chris Baker and RE Jason Hatcher and top reserve Jarvis Jenkins. Bowen's due $4.5 million and may not be long for the roster.

Redskins DE Stephen Bowen (knee) expects to be ready for the start of training camp.

Bowen, 30, underwent microfracture in December. Whether he's on the Redskins by the time training camp rolls around remains to be seen. Bowen doesn't have a clear path to a starting job, is recovering from major surgery, and is owed $4.5 million in 2014. He's currently running at 80 percent of his weight.

CSN Washington suggests Redskins RE Stephen Bowen could be a cap casualty.

Bowen underwent microfracture surgery in December and is out until mid-summer at soonest. There is some question about his availability for training camp. Turning 30 next month, Bowen came in 40th among 45 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus' 3-4 defensive end ratings. He's owed $4.5 million in 2014.

Redskins RE Stephen Bowen (knee, injured reserve) underwent microfracture surgery Tuesday night and will be sidelined six months.

The Redskins placed Bowen on I.R. last week, and coach Mike Shanahan said the team was determining whether the soon-to-be 30-year-old end would need the operation. Bowen will be pushing it to be ready for training camp; microfracture is one of the tougher surgeries to come back from. His age isn't helping him.

Redskins placed RE Stephen Bowen on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

Bowen was inactive for Monday's loss to the 49ers. According to coach Mike Shanahan, he may require microfracture surgery. It's yet another blow to the Redskins' beleaguered defense, but Bowen had not been playing well this season, notching only 19 tackles and zero sacks in 422 snaps. He graded out as a bottom-six 3-4 end in Pro Football Focus' ratings. Going on 30, Bowen is signed through 2015, but has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract.

Redskins RE Stephen Bowen suffered a torn PCL in Sunday's Week 7 win over the Bears.

Bowen has been having a brutal season along with the rest of the Redskins' defense, but his loss will now test Washington's depth. Look for similarly struggling Kedric Golston and little-used substitute Jarvis Jenkins to be the Skins' starting ends moving forward. This continues to be a defense to target in fantasy matchups. It'll also be without suspended SS Brandon Meriweather.

Redskins RE Stephen Bowen will not require offseason surgery on his torn upper biceps muscle.

Bowen tore the biceps in Week 15 but still finished out the season. A $27.5 million free-agent pickup from Dallas in 2011, Bowen has been a plus run defender through 32 starts as a Redskin. He'll be a starter again in 2013.

Redskins RE Stephen Bowen has been diagnosed with a torn upper biceps, but will play through the injury in Week 16.

Bowen is in the same boat as Ravens OLB Terrell Suggs. The Redskins' starting right end, Bowen has just 24 tackles and one sack, but has graded out as a top-13 3-4 defensive end in Pro Football Focus' rankings.

Redskins RE Stephen Bowen is recovering from an April left knee scope.

He's sitting out OTAs, but expects to be 100 percent in 2-4 weeks. Bowen suffered a third-degree right PCL tear last November, but says the operation "(wasn't) really" related. Bowen played through the injury, appearing in all 16 games. He's unlikely to participate in June's mandatory minicamp, but sounds like he'll be ready for training camp.

Redskins DE Stephen Bowen has been diagnosed with a third degree PCL tear, but does not require surgery and has yet to be ruled out for Week 13.

Coach Mike Shanahan called the situation "not good," but refused to rule Bowen out for Sunday. In all likelihood, Bowen won't play against the Jets, but he should be able to avoid injured reserve. In the first season of a five-year, $27.5 million deal, Bowen has tallied 29 tackles and five sacks.

Redskins agreed to terms with DE Stephen Bowen on a five-year, $27.5 million contract.

Here come the Redskins. The 27-year-old Bowen has shown real flashes of pass rush ability in a rotational role with the Cowboys and is versatile enough to hold up well against the run as well. Knowing Dan Snyder, this won't stop the 'Skins from still going after free agent DE Cullen Jenkins also. Bowen's deal includes $12.5 million in guarantees.

The Bears are reportedly interested in free agent DE Stephen Bowen.

Multiple league sources tell the Chicago Sun-Times that Bowen could "surprise" casual football fans with his eventual contract, which could take the money-conscious Bears out of the mix. While the report sounds agent-driven, Bowen is young, productive, and versatile.
