Bears placed RB Michael Bush (ribs) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Bush played just two snaps in Week 14 and didn't see the field at all last week. The Bears must have determined that the injury will not get better without several weeks of rest. With Bush out of the lineup, once again Matt Forte squandered three goal-line attempts versus the Packers in Week 15. Due $1.5 million in salary in addition to a $1 million roster bonus, there's no reason to believe Bush will not return in a similar role for the 2013 season. Kahlil Bell and Armando Allen will back up Forte the rest of the way. Tue, Dec 18, 2012 03:27:00 PM

Beat writer Sean Jensen hears the Bears are "weighing" whether to place Michael Bush (ribs) on injured reserve.

Jensen later tweeted that the Bears are "indeed" expected to end Bush's season. Bush's rib injury has relegated him to a mere insurance role over the last two weeks. The Bears are expected to sign Kahlil Bell Tuesday, leaving Bush's roster spot in jeopardy. His absence would leave a major hole in the Bears' struggling short-yardage game.

Michael Bush (ribs) was active for Week 15 against the Packers, but did not play.

Matt Forte handled goal-line carries, and it didn't go well. Forte had three goal-line attempts, gaining four yards and scoring no touchdowns. Bush's availability for Week 16 against the Cardinals is uncertain, but Forte will be a better bet to score in fantasy championship week. Bush played two offensive snaps in Week 14, so he's now been a non-factor for the last two games.

Michael Bush (ribs) is listed as questionable for Week 15.

Bush has been a non-factor trying to play through his injury, playing only two offensive snaps in Week 14. He's not a fantasy semifinals week option.

Michael Bush (ribs) remained out of Bears practice Thursday.

Bush sat out last Wednesday and Thursday before returning to limited practice on Friday and suiting up against the Vikings. However, he played only two snaps. Matt Forte's handcuff is well off the flex radar in 14-team leagues for Week 15.

Michael Bush (ribs) was listed as "DNP" on Wednesday.

The Bears didn't actually hold a practice, but Bush would have been held out if they had. Bush has been banged up over the last week, and played just two snaps in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. He's just a handcuff.

Michael Bush played on just two snaps in the Bears' Week 14 loss to the Vikings.

Over the last two weeks, Matt Forte has racked up 43 touches compared to eight for Bush. There's no committee here.

Michael Bush carried the ball just one time for six yards at Minnesota in Week 14.

The Bears' ground attack was scaled back after falling behind early. Bush's role appeared to be reduced anyway after missing two practices with a rib injury during the week. He's only a fantasy option in touchdown-heavy leagues.

Michael Bush (ribs) returned to a limited practice on Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 14 versus the Vikings.

Bush did not participate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday, so his return on Friday bodes well for his chances of suiting up. Still, he's only expected to see somewhere between five and eight touches. Matt Forte's back-up should be good to go.

Michael Bush (ribs) was held out of practice again on Thursday.

Coach Lovie Smith said Bush is "making progress" even though he wasn't yet ready to practice. Until Bush does practice, his status is in question. His absence would be a boon to Matt Forte's fantasy value at Minnesota in Week 14.

Michael Bush (ribs) missed Wednesday's practice.

It's a new injury for Bush, though the Chicago press corps doesn't appear overly concerned about his status. For now, Bush should be considered likely to back-up Matt Forte against the Vikings, but owners certainly need to double-check his status between now and Sunday morning.

Michael Bush rushed seven times for 39 yards in the Bears' Week 13 loss to the Seahawks.

With Matt Forte bouncing back from last week's ankle scare, Bush resumed change-of-pace back duties versus Seattle. Bush needs to be owned in all leagues as a potential every-week RB2 starter if Forte went down, but otherwise the Bears' backup running back is not a start-able commodity in fantasy leagues.

Michael Bush rushed 21 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns and caught one pass for a loss of one yard as the Bears defeated the Vikings in Week 12.

Matt Forte re-injured his right ankle in the third quarter, and Bush took over as Chicago's every-down back from there. The touchdowns were a longtime coming; Bush had not found pay dirt entering this game since Week 3. Forte's injury had the look Sunday of a potentially serious one, perhaps a high ankle sprain. We'll know more by early this week, but Bush will be a hot waiver-wire pickup in fantasy leagues. The Bears host a fading Seahawks defense next.

Michael Bush rushed for just nine yards on five carries against the 49ers in Week 11.

Bush added one catch for 18 yards out of the backfield. He's no more than a handcuff for Matt Forte and isn't worth a roster spot in 10-12 team leagues.
Tue, Nov 20, 2012 01:27:00 AM

Michael Bush rushed for 34 yards on three carries and lost a fumble in Chicago's Week 10 loss to Houston.

Bush's fumble was one of the Bears' five turnovers on the night, and it came after he gained 13 yards on a fourth-and-one play. He's a pure handcuff to Matt Forte and isn't worth a roster spot in 10-12 team leagues.
