The Seahawks are optimistic Zach Miller (ankle surgery) will only miss two games.
He had the ankle scoped during Seattle's Week 4 bye, so Miller's projected return date would be Week 7 after missing Weeks 5-6. Look for athletic specimen Luke Willson to take on a bigger role in Seattle's passing game. The Seahawks play the Redskins in Week 5. Washington's inept defense allowed Giants TEs Larry Donnell and Daniel Fells to combine for four TDs last Thursday night. Sep 29 - 3:53 PM

Date:

Seahawks TE Zach Miller underwent an ankle procedure last week.

Per FOX Sports, Miller is expected to be sidelined "an extended period of time." NFL.com's Ian Rapoport pegs Miller's absence at 5-6 weeks. Miller had six catches for 76 yards in the first three weeks. It's a big chance for Luke Willson, a plus athlete who had a 20-272-1 line as a rookie.
Sep 29 - 1:15 PM

Zach Miller caught two passes for 12 yards in Sunday's Week 3 win over the Broncos.

Miller's ankle was not an issue. The TE3 takes six catches for 76 yards and no touchdowns into the bye.
Sep 21 - 8:33 PM

Zach Miller (probable, ankle) returned to Seahawks practice Friday.

He's now on track to play against the Broncos. Miller has four catches for 64 yards through two games.
Sep 19 - 6:46 PM

Zach Miller (ankle) remained out of Seahawks practice Thursday.

The TE3 is looking doubtful for Week 3.
Sep 18 - 7:14 PM

Zach Miller (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.

The Seahawks are hoping Miller can return to practice later this week. He remains off the fantasy radar.
Sep 17 - 7:15 PM

Zach Miller caught a 22-yard pass on his lone target in Seattle's Week 2 loss to the Chargers.

Miller typically reels off 1-2 chunk gains per week, but doesn't draw nearly enough targets to be a reliable TE2.
Sep 14 - 8:36 PM

Zach Miller caught 3-of-4 targets for 42 yards in Seattle's Week 1 win over the Packers.

Miller made the play of the game, a diving, one-handed grab for 24 yards midway through the second quarter. Miller is an important part of the Seahawks' offense, but it doesn't translate to anything more than bottom-barrel TE2 value in fantasy.
Sep 5 - 12:38 AM

Zach Miller caught one pass for seven yards in Friday night's preseason game against the Bears.

He secured his lone target. Primarily a blocker in Seattle's offense, Miller has two receptions this preseason and is nowhere near the fantasy radar.
Aug 23 - 1:05 AM

Seahawks TE Zach Miller has reworked the final two years of his deal.

The restructure lowers Miller's base salary from $6 million to $3 million. He has the opportunity to earn $1 million back through incentives. The deal will also lower Miller's 2014 and 2015 cap hits, increasing his chances to stay in Seattle at least the next two seasons. Miller, a better blocker than receiver, posted a 33-387-5 line in 14 games last season. Look for No. 2 tight end Luke Willson's role to grow at Miller's expense in 2014.
Mar 15 - 12:52 PM

Zach Miller is owed a $1 million roster bonus next Thursday.

The Seahawks were expected to ask Miller to take a pay cut on the $5.8 million he's owed in 2014 between salary and bonuses. If Jermichael Finley's medicals check out, that might not even be an option anymore. The Seahawks also have two talented youngsters in Like Willson and Anthony McCoy.
Mar 12 - 12:33 PM

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport confirms the Seahawks are "likely" to ask TE Zach Miller to take a pay cut.

Miller has been one of GM John Schneider's few bad signings, catching just 96 passes in 45 games as a Seahawk. Coming off a 33/387/5 2013, Miller is due $5.8 million between salary and bonuses. There's a zero-percent chance he'll be back at that rate.
Feb 4 - 8:23 PM

Seahawks TE Zach Miller may be released or asked to take a pay cut.

The Seahawks are bumping up against the 2014 salary cap already and have several important players such as Golden Tate, RT Breno Giacomini, and CB Walter Thurmond set to become free agents next month. Miller posted a 33-387-5 line in 14 games last season and carries a $7 million cap number for 2014. Second-year TE Luke Willson is reportedly well regarded by Seattle and could be seen as a capable, cheaper replacement for Miller.

Zach Miller was held to one catch for ten yards in Super Bowl 48.

Miller's lone reception came on a designed tight end play to the perimeter, gaining ten around the right edge. Mostly an on-the-line blocker in Seattle's run-first offense, Miller's role won't change in 2014, assuming he's back. The 28-year-old is owed a $4.8 million base salary, $1 million roster bonus, and $200,000 workout bonus. Miller has finished 43rd, 29th, and 21st in fantasy scoring in his three seasons with Seattle.
Feb 2 - 10:17 PM

Zach Miller caught three passes for 25 yards in Seattle's NFC Championship Game win over the 49ers.

Miller hauled in all three of his targets. One of Seattle's primary red-zone targets, Miller will be a threat to find the end zone in Super Bowl XLVIII, but has caught more than three passes only three times all season.
