Former Panthers WR Dwayne Jarrett has retired from football.
Jarrett tried to resurrect his career with the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders this spring. Apparently, the light bulb didn't go on. Jarrett, the 45th overall pick in the 2007 draft, was a prolific wideout at USC before managing 35 catches in four years with Carolina. Just 25, he never got another shot in the NFL. Former Panthers WR Dwayne Jarrett has signed with the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders.

A second-round pick by Carolina back in 2007, Jarrett was cut in 2010 after four disappointing seasons. He caught just 35 passes and scored one touchdown in 32 career games. Still only 25, Jarrett will look to revive his career in Canada.

NFL suspended free agent WR Dwayne Jarrett three games for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

Jarrett was pinched twice for DUI in three years and spent all of last season out of football. We may not see the former second-round pick in the NFL again.

Former Panthers WR Dwayne Jarrett's DWI case is scheduled to go to trial in early July.

The defense attorney has argued that the officer had no reason to pull over Jarrett, but the judge refused to throw out the charge. Jarrett was initially stopped for speeding and driving without a proper tag. The free agent is facing jail time if convicted, as it's his second DWI in three years. He shouldn't hold out much hope of signing an NFL contract later this summer.

Former Panthers WR Dwayne Jarrett's DWI trial has been postponed until April 11.

Jarrett was arrested for drunk driving last October, his second DWI charge since March of 2008. He had one workout with the Seahawks in November, but otherwise drew no known interest after the Panthers released him following his arrest.

The Seahawks worked out free agent WRs Dwayne Jarrett and Bobby Engram Tuesday.

It's the first workout for each since they were released by their former teams. Both names are interesting, as Jarrett played for coach Pete Carroll at USC and Engram, of course, has played in Seattle for the majority of his career. Carroll has turned Mike Williams' career around, so we suppose we can't rule out him doing the same for Jarrett. Neither player was immediately signed.

Panthers waived WR Dwayne Jarrett.

Hardly a shocker. Even before Jarrett's second DWI in three years Tuesday morning, he had fallen to healthy-scratch status on a team desperately in need of a reliable second receiver. Jarrett had been pushing for a trade since early in the offseason, but he's going to find little interest on the open market as a 2007 second-round bust with bad game tape and major character concerns.

Dwayne Jarrett was stopped by Charlotte Mecklenburg Police early Tuesday morning and arrested for driving while impaired.

Jarrett was also arrested for DWI in March of 2008, so he's almost certainly looking at a 3-4 game league suspension. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Panthers cut him loose in the coming days. Jarrett has just one touchdown in his four-year career and two catches this season.

Dwayne Jarrett revealed that his agent worked "behind the scenes" this offseason to try to engineer a trade out of Carolina.

The Panthers would be lucky to get even a conditional seventh-round pick in return. Jarrett recently approached the team about getting his release so he could try to latch on elsewhere, but the Panthers still believe he can help. He's stuck without an offensive role after falling behind rookies Brandon LaFell and David Gettis.

Beat writer Darin Gantt says the "Dwayne Jarrett era appears to be drawing to a close."

Jarrett was a healthy scratch Sunday as he has fallen behind sixth-rounder David Gettis. The Panthers could end up cutting Jarrett, who has just 35 catches in 31 career games.

Panthers declared WR Dwayne Jarrett, WR Armanti Edwards, CB C.J. Wilson, OT Jeff Otah, DE Eric Norwood, DTs Nick Hayden, DL Andre Neblett and QB Tony Pike inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals.

This should put the final death blow in Jarrett's career as a Panther. He's a healthy scratch in favor of sixth-round rookie David Gettis. Brandon LaFell should get the majority of snaps opposite Steve Smith in Jimmy Clausen's first NFL start.

Dwayne Jarrett admits he's "frustrated" by being passed over by rookies Brandon LaFell and David Gettis.

"I wouldn't say angry, more frustrated than anything," Jarrett said. "But what can you do? Go out there, keep working hard, and hopefully I get my opportunity." Well, maybe you should play better, eh Dwayne? As the No. 4 receiver on a run-heavy offense, you can certainly ignore Jarrett in fantasy leagues.

Dwayne Jarrett played off the bench behind rookie David Gettis in Week 2.

It's a new low for the former No. 45 overall pick. With Brandon LaFell (hamstring) inactive, the Panthers started Gettis over Jarrett. Gettis is a developmental project from Baylor. Jarrett didn't see a pass target.

The Charlotte Observer's Darin Gantt predicts that Dwayne Jarrett will be the Panthers' starting flanker in Week 1.

Unfortunately, rookie Brandon LaFell's impressive spring play didn't carry over to full-contact drills. Jarrett closed out the preseason with five catches for 29 yards. LaFell at least had three grabs for 46. Either way, the Panthers won't field a fantasy-worthy receiver or tight end outside of Steve Smith.

Beat writer Darin Gantt still projects Dwayne Jarrett as a starter opposite Steve Smith.

Brandon LaFell has failed to seize this golden opportunity. Jarrett has backed into the job simply because the Panthers don't have any other viable options. LaFell is off the re-draft radar for now, but is worth monitoring once Jarrett inevitably heads to the bench.
