Broncos signed RB Darius Walker, TE Marquez Branson, CB Tony Carter, OG Mitch Erickson, CBk D.J. Johnson, ILB Braxton Kelley, DE Everette Pedescleaux, and WR Matt Willis to their practice squad.
Walker had a very strong preseason, earning him the "No. 4" tailback job behind Correll Buckhalter, Knowshon Moreno, and LaMont Jordan, although Peyton Hillis is another candidate for carries. Carter played at Florida State. Sun, Sep 6, 2009 08:29:00 PM

Broncos released RB Darius Walker.

Walker was battling with LaMont Jordan to be the fourth running back. Jordan also isn't guaranteed to make the roster behind Knowshon Moreno, Correll Buckhalter, and Peyton Hillis.

Broncos signed RB Darius Walker to a two-year contract.

Walker was a long shot for fantasy value anyway, but Denver is an especially poor fit with three veterans, a first-round pick, and a fullback ahead of him in the competition for carries. He's a long shot to make the team out of training camp.

According to agent Drew Rosenhaus' Twitter Account, free agent Darius Walker is trying out for the Broncos on Wednesday.

Walker wasn't tendered a contract from the Texans in exclusive rights free agency, making him an unrestricted free agent. Just taking a look down Denver's tailback depth chart, it's clear this wouldn't be a great landing spot.

Texans signed RB Darius Walker to their practice squad.

Released last week by the Rams, Walker is back on the Texans' depth chart thanks to Ahman Green landing on injured reserve. He could get a look backing up Steve Slaton, but for now he's behind Ryan Moats.

Rams released RB Darius Walker from their practice squad.

The team also had in Najeh Davenport and 2007 Bills fourth-round pick Dwayne Wright for free agent tryouts Tuesday, but neither signed. Walker's best bet for a "rebirth" would be in a zone-blocking or draw-friendly system.

Rams signed RB Darius Walker to their practice squad.

Walker will add practice depth, but his best shot at fantasy value likely came late last season in Houston. Even with all the running back injuries in St. Louis, he's behind Kenneth Darby and Samkon Gado in the pecking order.

Texans signed RB Darius Walker from their practice squad.

He'll serve as Houston's No. 3 tailback until/if Ahman Green gets back from his ankle injury. The Texans' running back pecking order is volatile behind Steve Slaton, so Walker could be worth adding in deep leagues later on.

With Ahman Green sidelined, the Texans are planning to activate Darius Walker from the practice squad.

Walker appeared in four games last season, picking up 264 yards on 54 carries. He's no higher than third on the depth chart but he'd be worth a look in PPR leagues if starter Steve Slaton goes down.

Texans signed RB Darius Walker to their practice squad.

Walker could be the first one up when Ahman Green gets hurt again.

Texans released RB Darius Walker, RB Marcel Shipp, S Glenn Earl, WR Mark Simmons, QB Shane Boyd, and DLs Gabe Long and Jesse Nading.

Walker averaged 4.6 YPC last year and Houston figures to keep him on speed dial, but he couldn't make a weak Texans backfield. The Texans will roll with Ahman Green, Chris Taylor, and Steve Slaton at RB to begin the season. All three are worth late-round fantasy fliers.

Darius Walker started for the Texans Thursday, but had only 18 yards on nine carries.

Ahman Green, Steve Slaton, and Chris Taylor all sat out, and will make the team. Their fourth running back spot will probably come down to Walker or Chris Brown. Marcel Shipp, who had 21 yards on five carries, looks likely to get cut.

Darius Walker didn't have a carry in Houston's second preseason game despite being healthy enough to play on special teams.

Ominous sign for Walker's future considering Chris Taylor left in the third quarter and Ahman Green was out. Walker started camp as odd man out in Houston's backfield and he doesn't appear to be in the conversation now despite some injuries in front of him. Marcel Shipp's signing makes it even less likely that he'll make the team.

Beat writer John McClain believes Darius Walker will be the "odd man out" if all five Texans tailbacks stay healthy through training camp.

His solid run at the end of the 2007 season wasn't enough. Walker lacks the upside of his four competitors and the Texans won't carry all five. He's also not an impact player on special teams.

Texans RB Darius Walker returned to Organized Team Activities Tuesday.

He was out last week with an ankle injury, but it wasn't serious. Walker played fairly well down the stretch last year, but he is currently buried on the Texans depth chart. If a young player is going to emerge in Houston, it's more likely to be Chris Taylor or Steve Slaton.
