The Cowboys are not expected to sign free agent DE Jarvis Moss after Wednesday's workout.
Team scouts described Moss' workout as "decent," which Cowboys.com writer Bryan Broaddus takes to mean, "We’re glad you came in, but we are going to keep hunting for players." Moss was the 17th overall pick in the 2007 draft. Wed, Mar 6, 2013 05:31:00 PM

Free agent DE Jarvis Moss is scheduled to work out with the Cowboys Wednesday.

Moss, the No. 17 overall pick in the 2007 draft, has been out of the league since 2011 and has two career starts to his name. At this point, he's just looking for someone to take a chance on him as a camp body. DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer are locked in as the Cowboys' starting ends.

Raiders agreed to terms with DE Jarvis Moss on a one-year, $1.25 million contract.

The Raiders liked how Moss looked in practice last year, and he did show well with one sack in about 25 snaps in Week 17 against the Chiefs. Oakland will continue to try to develop the former first-round bust into a situational pass rusher. Moss is only just now turning 27, so we suppose there's still potential.

Beat writer Paul Gutierrez says DE/OLB Jarvis Moss "impressed the coaching staff with his high motor and work ethic" late last season.

Moss was signed off the wire by the Raiders in November after being dumped by the Broncos. The former first-round pick has talent, but he may not have a spot on the roster with Trevor Scott expected back from knee surgery. Moss is a free agent.

Raiders DE/OLB Jarvis Moss fractured his right hand in Wednesday's practice.

Moss missed Thursday's practice, but coach Tom Cable isn't ready to rule him out. He made his Raiders debut last week at San Diego.

Raiders signed DE/OLB Jarvis Moss, formerly of the Broncos.

They're looking for depth with Trevor Scott going down with a season-ending knee injury. Moss will play defensive end, where he'll back up Matt Shaughnessy, for the Raiders after playing outside linebacker in Denver. Perhaps playing his old college position will light a fire under the former first-round pick.

Broncos waived OLB Jarvis Moss.

Josh McDaniels' club finally gives up on Mike Shanahan's former first-round pick. Due to injuries to Elvis Dumervil and Robert Ayers, Moss played way too many snaps this season. The 17th overall pick in the 2007 draft hasn't had a sack in two years. It's probably safe to assume that he'll clear waivers.

Updating a previous item, Jarvis Moss will have to compete with Jason Hunter, Baraka Atkins, and rookie Kevin Alexander to win the weakside outside linebacker job.

"There's a load of them over there, and really we're just going to let those guys compete and if one of them deserves to play 65 plays, we'll let them do that," coach Josh McDaniels said. "If we feel like we can get a good 30 plays out of a couple of them, then we might rotate them."

Coach Josh McDaniels confirmed that Mario Haggan will move back inside, opening a starting outside linebacker spot for Jarvis Moss.

Denver is desperate for a pass rush with Elvis Dumervil out, and the 2007 first-round bust is the best option opposite Robert Ayers. Better in run support than pressure, Haggan is a superior fit next to D.J. Williams inside. Joe Mays and Wesley Woodyard won't be seeing increased snaps after all.

Broncos OLB Jarvis Moss (hand) returned to practice on Wednesday.

Moss missed almost two weeks after breaking a bone in his left hand. He's wearing a protective cast over the hand, but it's not limiting his ability to practice. Moss is currently working with the second-team base defense and first-team nickel defense.

Broncos OLB Jarvis Moss will miss two weeks after sustaining a broken bone in his right hand during Friday morning's practice.

Moss is expected to participate in the final three exhibition games with a cast on his hand. Still, it's poor timing for 2007 first-round bust, who was finally expected to compete for starting snaps with Elvis Dumervil (torn pectorals) in jeopardy of missing the entire season.

Broncos OLB Jarvis Moss insists he never considered quitting football during his three-day hiatus from camp.

"Life stuff caught up to me and I needed time to myself," Moss said. "Coach gave me a few days to get my stuff together before I came back out here, and I did that." The 2007 first-rounder is facing long odds to make the final roster.

2007 first-round pick Jarvis Moss returned to the Broncos for Tuesday's practice after briefly considering retirement.

Moss' odds of making the roster took a big hit when he skipped three days of work. He was already on the bubble because he doesn't fit Denver's scheme.

Broncos OLB Jarvis Moss (personal) still hasn't returned to the team.

Close pal Marcus Thomas said Moss would return Monday, but he never did. "We granted Jarvis permission to take the time to do what he needed to do," coach Josh McDaniels said. Moss almost certainly won't make the team.

Broncos DL Marcus Thomas said after Sunday's practice that Jarvis Moss intends to return to the team on Monday.

Thomas and Moss played together in college and are close friends. Moss was excused from Saturday's practice while he contemplated retirement. It sounds like he'll try to keep playing, but Moss will return on the roster bubble.
