Browns signed QB Drew Stanton, formerly of the Cardinals, to a two-year contract.
Stanton's agent first reported the deal by congratulating his client on social media. Stanton joins a crowded quarterback committee that now consists of the recently acquired Tyrod Taylor, Cody Kessler, and Kevin Hogan. It's likely Kessler or Hogan don't make it out of camp with Cleveland considering the Browns are fully expected to add another quarterback to their roster via the No. 1 or No. 4 pick in April's draft. The Browns hosted free agent QB Drew Stanton on Thursday.

Stanton, 34 in May, would add a veteran presence to a Cleveland quarterback room that lacked it last season after Hue Jackson encouraged Josh McCown to go into retirement and become a coach, leading to his release. The Browns' current quarterback depth chart reads Tyrod Taylor > Cody Kessler > Kevin Hogan.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports impending free agent QB Drew Stanton will not need surgery to repair a torn ACL.

According to Rapoport, Stanton has been playing with a "thread" of an ACL for years, and now the ACL is gone completely. Even so, Stanton will be able to continue playing with the issue. It is good news for him as he heads into free agency.

Drew Stanton completed 15-of-34 passes for 145 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Cardinals' Week 17 win over the Seahawks.

Stanton struggled mightily even as the Cardinals managed to spring the road upset. Going on 34, Stanton briefly lost the Cardinals' No. 2 job to Blaine Gabbert this season. Stanton might still be better than Gabbert, but he hasn't looked like a viable No. 2 in quite some time. Headed for a reset at quarterback, the Cardinals will probably let Stanton walk in free agency. According to teammate Larry Fitzgerald, Stanton had been playing through a torn ACL. That's going to make it all but impossible for Stanton to find a job on the open market.

Drew Stanton completed 20-of-34 passes for 209 yards with two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions in Week 16 against the Giants.

Stanton was an upgrade over Blaine Gabbert, but this was a middling performance. Both of his touchdowns came on red-zone throws to Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown. Stanton locked on to Fitzgerald, who accounted for over half of yards on 15 targets. He'll remain the starter for the season finale against Seattle.

Drew Stanton will be the Cardinals' Week 16 starter at quarterback.

Blaine Gabbert had been getting worse and worse under center before finally bottoming out against the Redskins on Sunday. Stanton has proven time and again to not be an NFL-level starter, but he's probably a better bet than Gabbert at this point. Hopefully he locks onto Larry Fitzgerald against the Giants. The G-Men are an attackable matchup, but Stanton will be an inadvisable streamer for the fantasy finals.

Drew Stanton (knee) was limited at Wednesday's practice.

Stanton is still working his way back from a Week 10 knee sprain. Even if he gets cleared for Sunday, Blaine Gabbert will start against Jacksonville.

Drew Stanton (knee) remained limited at Friday's practice and is questionable for Week 11 against the Texans.

Stanton has made a quick recovery from the sprained knee he suffered in last week's loss to Seattle. Regardless, it looks like Blaine Gabbert will be under center Sunday against Houston.

Drew Stanton (knee) was seen warming up at the open portion of Thursday's practice.

Stanton was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice and will probably garner the same listing on Thursday. It sounds like the Cardinals are leaning toward starting Blaine Gabbert this week, regardless of Stanton's health.

Drew Stanton (knee) was limited at Wednesday's practice.

Stanton is dealing with a knee sprain suffered last Thursday night. He's expected to miss at least one week. Blaine Gabbert is on track to start Week 11 against Houston.

Drew Stanton (knee) was seen throwing off to the side at Tuesday's practice.

The Cardinals won't be releasing an injury report until Wednesday, though it sounds like Stanton is making progress after suffering a sprained knee in Thursday night's loss to Seattle. Blaine Gabbert would likely start if Stanton is unavailable for Sunday's game at Houston.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports QB Drew Stanton sprained his knee in Week 10 against the Seahawks.

If Stanton is unable to go, Blaine Gabbert will start in Week 11 against Houston. The drop-off between Stanton and Gabbert likely won't be very noticeable.

Drew Stanton completed 24-of-47 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals' Week 10 loss to the Seahawks.

Victimized by drops, Stanton didn't make his life any easier by misfiring on deep ball after deep ball. He had no feel down the field, missing completely wide open receivers more than once. Stanton's task was also made harder by the first quarter loss of LT D.J. Humphries. Stanton veered between replacement-level and dreadful. Although the matchup is not daunting in the Texans' injury-ravaged defense, Stanton will not be on the Week 11 streaming radar.

Drew Stanton completed 15-of-30 passes for 201 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in the Cardinals' Week 9 win over the 49ers.

Stanton came out firing, hitting John Brown with a 52-yard bomb on the first play of the game. He just overthrew Larry Fitzgerald on what should have been a touchdown later in the drive, but he got his touchdown on the next possession, getting lucky with a prayer of a pass which just happened to land in Jaron Brown’s arms. His second score was a more impressive throw put in the right spot as Jermaine Gresham boxed out the defensive back. He attempted the same pass late in the second quarter, but it was thrown behind the tight end and intercepted. After a slow start to the second half, Stanton orchestrated a long field-goal drive to widen the lead, and he picked up important third downs with both his arm and legs on another long drive which effectively ended the game. This was not an excellent performance from Stanton, but if he can continue to make big plays while Adrian Peterson moves the ball, Arizona's offense could do surprisingly well.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said the team will "stick with" Drew Stanton as their starting quarterback.

Carson Palmer suffered a broken arm Sunday which will sideline him at least eight weeks and possibly the rest of the season. Stanton completed just 5-of-14 passes for 62 yards with zero scores in over a half of work in relief against the Rams, and he has struggled to move the ball throughout his career. Arizona should strongly consider giving Blaine Gabbert a shot.
