Bears released DE Jamaal Anderson.

Anderson lasted 24 days with the Bears after being cut by the Bengals in mid-July. The 27-year-old former No. 8 overall pick has just 7.5 career sacks through 77 games, and he may not be fully recovered from the torn quadriceps that ended his 2012 season. Anderson is just a rotational run defender.

Bears signed DE Jamaal Anderson, formerly of the Bengals.

Anderson, the No. 8 overall pick of the Falcons in the 2007 draft, was released by the Bengals two weeks ago. He has just 7.5 career sacks through 77 games. Anderson takes the roster spot vacated by retired DT Sedrick Ellis.

Bengals released DE Jamaal Anderson.

The move saves $2.5 million in cap space. The Falcons' 2007 first-round pick (No. 8 overall), Anderson appeared in only two games last season before tearing his quad. A rotational end the past three seasons after flaming out as a starter, Anderson has played just 918 snaps since 2010. A better run defender than pass rusher, Anderson should be able to latch on somewhere as a camp body, but will be far from a guarantee for a roster spot.

Bengals placed DE Jamaal Anderson (quadriceps) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Anderson will undergo surgery later this week to repair the quadriceps muscle torn in Week 2. The former Falcons first-rounder had been playing as a rotational end behind Carlos Dunlap, Michael Johnson and Robert Geathers.

Bengals DE Jamaal Anderson is likely out for the season after tearing his quadriceps muscle in Week 2.

It's the second season-ending injury for the Bengals in four days. They also lost LB Thomas Howard to an ACL tear sustained during Thursday's practice. Anderson is a rotational end behind Carlos Dunlap, Michael Johnson and Robert Geathers.

Bengals DE Jamaal Anderson left Sunday's game against the Browns with a left leg injury.

It looked like a knee injury. Anderson tried to plant and his knee just gave out. He is a reserve defensive end but was seeing plenty of action with Carlos Dunlap out.

Bengals signed DE Jamaal Anderson, formerly of the Colts.

Joining Derrick Harvey, Anderson is the second former No. 8 pick in the draft to surface with Cincinnati on the same day. Still only 26 years old, Anderson was a rotational left end and defensive tackle in Indy last season, managing just 24 tackles and three sacks in 15 games. Pro Football Focus did grade Anderson as a serviceable run defender, but he's been a major NFL bust.

Free agent DL Jamaal Anderson will reportedly visit the Bengals.

The Bengals have set their sights low in replacing Frostee Ruster and Jonathan Fanene. Anderson and DT Andre Fluellen, also scheduled to visit, are purely backups.

Colts signed DL Jamaal Anderson to a one-year contract.

The eighth pick in the 2007 draft will try to rekindle his career as a rotational lineman with a contender. Anderson, who looks like Julius Peppers getting off the bus at 6-foot-6, 290, is an odd fit for the Colts. Indy usually likes its ends light, quick, and explosive, and its tackles to be low-to-the-ground gap shooters. Anderson clearly doesn't fit either profile.

Free agent DE Jamaal Anderson has set up visits with the Broncos and Titans.

The No. 8 pick in the 2007 draft, Anderson is looking to resurrect his career after being released by Atlanta late last week. The good news is he's only 25 years old. The bad news is that he appears to lack enough first-step explosiveness to emerge as an NFL-caliber pass rusher. The Titans are trying to get bigger up front, however, and may be the 6'6/290-pound Anderson's best fit.

Falcons released DE Jamaal Anderson.

The No. 8 overall pick in the 2007 draft is a better run stopper than pass rusher. For a defensive end scheduled to make $3.55 million, that's not good enough. Anderson's wildly disappointing Falcons career ends with 4.5 sacks in 60 games.

The Falcons are reportedly considering "streamlining" LE Jamaal Anderson in an effort to get more of a pass-rushing impact out of the 2007 first-rounder.

The front office is well aware of a need for another pass rusher, but they view this year's free agent class as "suspect." Ray Edwards and Charles Johnson are going to end up overpaid, and GM Thomas Dimitroff isn't that desperate. He's apparently not going all out for a Super Bowl push after all. As for Anderson, we have no confidence that he'll suddenly blossom into an effective pass rusher in his fifth season.

Falcons LE Jamaal Anderson is due a $3,558,750 salary in 2011.

The eighth overall pick in the 2007 draft has "developed" into a run-stopping defensive end, which isn't going to cut it at Anderson's salary. The 25-year-old had two sacks in 2010, playing under 50 percent of the defensive snaps. The Falcons may ask him to restructure, and cut ties if he doesn't.

Falcons DE Jamaal Anderson and S Erik Coleman are candidates to be released this offseason.

Anderson is coming off his best season in Atlanta as a key component of a better than expected run defense. The Falcons have to decide if he's worth $3.6 million with reinforcements needed at receiver, tight end, running back, pass rusher, and secondary. Coleman, due $3 million, would have to take a major paycut to return.
