Bears placed RB Lorenzo Booker on injured reserve and signed RB Armando Allen from their practice squad.
Booker missed practice all week after suffering a concussion in the preseason. Allen, in his second year out of Notre Dame, will be the No. 3 back behind Matt Forte and Michael Bush and contribute on special teams. OLB Patrick Trahan was also waived on Saturday. Sat, Sep 8, 2012 02:23:00 PM

Bears signed RB Lorenzo Booker and waived RB Alvester Alexander.

After contributing down the stretch as a kickoff returner with the Vikings in 2010, Booker was a disaster last season, fumbling three times on 21 offensive touches. The 28-year-old passing down specialist will likely push Armando Allen for the fourth running back spot. Alexander was undrafted out of Wyoming.

Vikings will not tender restricted free agent RB/KR Lorenzo Booker.

The coaching staff lost faith in Booker last season after three fumbles on just 21 offensive touches. Marcus Sherels should take over as the primary kickoff returner with Percy Harvin's offensive snaps due to increase.

Lorenzo Booker played just two snaps in last week's loss to the Raiders despite Adrian Peterson's first-half injury.

The Vikings clearly don't trust Booker. Toby Gerhart racked up 39 snaps last week and Percy Harvin will be used as his change-of-pace back while Peterson is sidelined.

Vikings RB/KR Lorenzo Booker is dealing with concussion-like symptoms this week.

In other words, he has a concussion. Booker was held out of Thursday's practice, putting his status in doubt for Sunday's game against the Panthers.

Vikings RB/KR Lorenzo Booker (back) expects to return to full practice early next week.

Booker is vying for the third-down job along with Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart. He's also expected to serve as the primary kickoff returner, with Percy Harvin focusing on offense.

Vikings RB/KR Lorenzo Booker was diagnosed with a minor disc problem in his back.

The Vikes originally feared worse after Booker collapsed without contact while running a route in Saturday's game. He's expected to be back for the season opener, but it's fair to wonder if the condition will worsen during the season. With Toby Gerhart (Achilles) also banged up, Adrian Peterson may be forced into a bigger role on passing downs this year.

Coach Leslie Frazier is considering using Lorenzo Booker as the Vikings' full-time kick returner in 2011.

He'd be getting the nod over Percy Harvin. If the Competition Committee's special teams proposals are agreed upon, however, kick returners will have much less value not only in real life, but in return-yardage leagues as well. Touchbacks will be easier to come by. Booker appeared in four games last season, averaging 23.8 yards per kick return compared to Harvin's 23.3.

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said he's hoping new RB Lorenzo Booker can help the team out on third downs right away.

Booker last made an NFL appearance in 2008 and played this season in the UFL. He has little between-the-tackles ability, but is a capable receiver and can pass block. Booker may steal a few snaps from Toby Gerhart.

Vikings signed RB Lorenzo Booker, formerly of the Eagles.

Booker, 26, peaked as a player when he was the nation's No. 1 running back recruit heading to Florida State. He's underwhelmed ever since, seeming to shy from contact. Booker was last with the Hartford Colonials of the UFL.

The Vikings were reportedly interested in signing UFL RB Lorenzo Booker but balked at the $150,000 transfer fee.

Booker ended up boycotting the regular season finale last week as a protest against the UFL's nonsensical decision to enforce the fee. According to PFT, at least four UFL players have worked out for NFL teams since the end of the UFL season, but the transfer free prohibited signings. Don't be surprised if the UFL has trouble finding quality players next year.

Giants worked out free agent RB Lorenzo Booker on Tuesday.

With Danny Ware (elbow) out at least two weeks, the Giants need running back depth -- especially on passing downs. T.J. Duckett was reportedly also on hand for tryouts.

Eagles released RB Lorenzo Booker.

This was a long time coming. Booker couldn't even get on the field when Brian Westbrook was hurt last year. There's no doubt the Eagles regret trading away a fourth-round pick for him before the 2008 season. LeSean McCoy is Westbrook's clear handcuff.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Eagles backup RB Lorenzo Booker is no lock to make the roster.

Booker has been a total bust since the Eagles traded a fourth-round pick for him in 2004. Even when Brian Westbrook was hurt last season, Booker barely got on the field. Westbrook's handcuff is clearly rookie LeSean McCoy, not Booker.

Eagles RB Lorenzo Booker doesn't believe he'll lose the backup job to second-rounder LeSean McCoy.

"For me to start sweating, you've got to take my job," Booker said. "Come take my job. If you can take it, then take it. We'll see." Booker was unable to beat out veteran Correll Buckhalter last season, but he has one season in Andy Reid's offense and experience with blitz pickup. McCoy has a decided edge in talent.
