Chiefs OT Tony Ugoh retired.
A five-year veteran, Ugoh signed with the Chiefs last Thursday, but must not have liked his chances of making the team. A second-round pick of the Colts in 2007, Ugoh made 23 starts his first two years in the league, but saw his past three seasons derailed by injury. He made just 14 appearances after 2008, three of which came for the world champion Giants last season. Mon, Jul 30, 2012 05:01:00 PM

Chiefs signed OT Tony Ugoh.

The injury-plagued Ugoh made three late-season appearances for the Giants last season and attracted no known interest since. He'll compete for backup tackle duties behind starters Branden Albert and Eric Winston in Kansas City.

Giants signed OT Tony Ugoh.

Ugoh takes the roster spot of backup tackle Stacy Andrews (injured reserve, illness). He was the Colts' second-round pick in 2007, but he flamed out quickly due to various injury woes. Ugoh hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2009.

Lions released OT Tony Ugoh.

Depending on the source, Ugoh was a no-show at practice last week due to an undisclosed virus or thoughts of retirement. Either way, the Lions decided it was time to walk away from his $1.5 million salary. Ugoh would have been a fringe roster type had he stayed on in Detroit.

The agent for Lions OT Tony Ugoh disputes a report that his client left training camp to consider retirement.

Agent Alan Herman insists Ugoh has "a virus of some kind," putting him briefly out of commission, but that he'll be back "in a day or two." Regardless, the Lions are not expected to keep Ugoh on the 53-man roster at his $1.5M salary.

Lions OT Tony Ugoh was a no-show for Wednesday's training camp practice because he is considering retiring.

Ugoh is not expected to make Detroit's final roster after being outplayed by Corey Hilliard for the team's "swing tackle" role. Long on talent but an underachiever, Ugoh was the 42nd overall pick in the 2007 draft. The Colts didn't need long to determine he wasn't an answer, and gave up on him last September.

Lions signed T Tony Ugoh.

The second-round pick out of Arkansas started 24 games for the Colts over three seasons before being waived in September. With starting RT Gosder Cherilus (knee) doubtful for Week 14 against Green Bay, Ugoh could get a healthy number of snaps behind underwhelming backup Jason Fox if Cherilus can't suit up on Sunday.

The Seahawks worked out former Colts OL Tony Ugoh Tuesday.

A former second-round pick, Ugoh was waived by Indy on September 8. Seattle has had some injuries on the offensive line and could be looking at a depth addition. Former Broncos DL Le Kevin Smith also worked out for them.

Colts released OL Tony Ugoh.

Ugoh been on injured reserve with a dislocated toe, so the Colts must have reached a settlement. The 2007 second-rounder never developed as Peyton Manning's blindside tackle and had been moved to guard this summer. Indy will have to place an emphasis on finding a left tackle of the future in next year's draft.

Colts waived/injured LG Tony Ugoh.

He's out for the year with what's believed to either be a dislocated or fractured toe. It's yet another blow to Peyton Manning's offensive line, which is in shambles with C Jeff Saturday coming back from knee surgery, ineffective RG Kyle DeVan still starting, and LT Charlie Johnson (foot) on the mend. Luckily, Manning annually makes Indy's line look far, far better than it really is.

Colts OL Tony Ugoh left Thursday's game with a toe injury and did not return.

Ugoh had been filling in for LT Charlie Johnson, who has been out since the beginning of training camp with a foot injury. There's no word on the severity of Ugoh's injury. The Colts can ill-afford to lose another lineman with center Jeff Saturday (knee) also out.

Tony Ugoh was working at left guard during the Colts OTA on Thursday.

Ugoh lost his starting left tackle gig to Charlie Johnson last season and only played there when Johnson was hurt. With both position coach Howard Mudd and last year's starting left guard Ryan Lilja gone, Ugoh is playing guard for the first time in his career. It's an experiment that could end up paying dividends for the Colts.

Colts OT Tony Ugoh could get a "fresh look" now that position coach Howard Mudd is gone.

Ugoh fell out of favor with Mudd and was beaten out by Charlie Johnson for the starting left tackle job last season. Ugoh offers more talent than Johnson, but will have to demonstrate consistency and probably outplay him by a wide margin in camp to win the position. On paper, the Colts' best line combination would likely be Ugoh at left tackle and Johnson at left guard.

Colts LT Tony Ugoh left Sunday night's game with an ankle injury and is questionable to return.

The Colts are wrapping up a blowout win in Tennessee and there's no point in risking further injury. It's doubtful we see Ugoh return to the field.

After demoting him in favor of Charlie Johnson, the Colts plan to use Tony Ugoh as a "swing" tackle behind RT Ryan Diem and LT Johnson.

The Colts traded a up to draft Ugoh in the 2007 second round, but have grown tired of his lack of durability. They're still accepting a big downgrade in terms of athleticism going with Johnson on Peyton Manning's blind side.
