Appearing on NFL Network's NFL AM program Friday morning, Giants CB Aaron Ross said he signed with the Jaguars last offseason only for the money.
"It was a nice paid vacation to Florida," said Ross, who collected over $2.25 million of a deal alleged to be worth $9.75 million over three years. He was released on March 8. "So yeah, I’m very happy to be back with the Giants," added Ross. He's back with the G-Men on a one-year deal for the minimum salary. Apr 5 - 2:13 PM

Giants signed CB Aaron Ross, formerly of the Jaguars.

The Giants are bringing back the player they made the No. 20 pick of the 2007 draft after he spent one (unsuccessful) season in Jacksonville. Ross started 15 games for the G-Men in 2011, but may begin no higher than fourth on the depth chart. Going on 31, Ross had a rough go of it in coverage last season.

Jaguars released CB Aaron Ross.

The move saves over $3 million in salary cap space. Ross was just one year into the three-year, $9.75 million pact he signed last March. He started nine games in 2012, but wasn't effective. Ross was benched twice, and didn't start after Week 13. By releasing Ross, the Jaguars have just Mike Harris and Kevin Rutland under contract at cornerback. They could be ready to spend in a deep corner market, or perhaps even draft Dee Milliner at No. 2.

Jaguars.com mentions CB Aaron Ross as a candidate for release.

The Florida Times Union mentioned Ross' name as a cap casualty last month. Ross is set to count just over $4 million against the cap in the second year of a three-year deal. The Jaguars have just three corners under contract for 2013, and Ross could stick with coach Gus Bradley liking his corners tall and lanky.

The Florida Times Union mentions CB Aaron Ross as a candidate for offseason release.

Ross signed a three-year deal with the Jaguars last offseason, but he started just nine games as he battled various nicks and dings. He's set to count $4 million against the cap in 2013. The Jaguars could experience a complete overhaul in the defensive backfield. Three of their top four corners are free agents.

Jags CB Aaron Ross was forced from Sunday's game at Buffalo with a leg injury.

He's done for the day. Rashean Mathis has come on as Ross' replacement in a game that is turning into a blowout at 34-10 in the fourth quarter.

Aaron Ross is practicing as the Jaguars' starting left cornerback in base packages, and kicking to the slot in the nickel defense.

Rashean Mathis replaces Ross at LCB in the nickel. Derek Cox is entrenched as the right cornerback. Ross struggled covering the slot with the Giants, so this will be a situation to bear in mind for regular season matchup purposes. Ross and Mathis, the latter coming off a torn ACL, will be DBs to target.

The Jaguars will hold a left cornerback competition between Aaron Ross and incumbent Rashean Mathis in training camp.

Mathis is coming off a late-season ACL tear and Ross signed a relatively large offseason contract, so the latter figures to be the favorite. Coach Mike Mularkey indicated that the loser of the Mathis-Ross battle will be the Jaguars' nickel back. Ross should cover the slot on passing downs regardless.

The Jaguars will allow CB Aaron Ross to miss a few days of training camp to travel to London and watch his wife, Sanya Richards-Ross, in the Olympics.

Ross' wife won the bronze medal in the 400 meters at the 2008 Olympics. After placing an emphasis on recruiting players with wives and steady home lives, the Jaguars are practicing what they preach by excusing Ross for a few days in August.

Jaguars signed CB Aaron Ross to a three-year, $15.3 million contract.

Forced into a starting role for the first time since 2008 last season after Terrell Thomas' ACL rear, Ross responded with a highly-average campaign, but was solid in coverage. He notched 60 tackles and a career-high four picks. Ross is capable of playing both in the slot and on the outside, and has even seen time at safety. He'll provide versatile veteran insurance for a team that was ravaged by injury in its secondary late in 2011. Look for Ross to be the Jaguars' No. 3 safety and No. 3 cornerback.

Free agent CB Aaron Ross will reportedly visit the Redskins on Friday.

Ross will first visit the Bengals. Washington has had its sights set on the second-tier cornerbacks after losing out on Cortland Finnegan.

The Newark Star-Ledger reports free agent CB Aaron Ross will visit the Bengals on Thursday.

Ross was presumably written out of the Giants' future when the G-Men re-signed Terrell Thomas Tuesday. Ross had a middling 2011, but would provide proven veteran insurance for RCB Leon Hall as he works his way back from a ruptured Achilles' tendon.

The Raiders are expected to target "second-tier" cornerbacks, such as Aaron Ross and Tracy Porter, in free agency.

The Saints don't have the cap space to keep Porter, and his old position coach in New Orleans is now the head coach of the Raiders. Ross won't be back with the Giants after they re-signed Terrell Thomas on Tuesday.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune suggests free agent CB Aaron Ross as a "viable" target for the Saints should they lose free agent CB Tracy Porter.

Ross is four years older than Porter and would likely come cheaper, especially if Porter checks out medically with teams. Ross played for new Saints DC Steve Spagnuolo with the Giants. The former first-round pick has played all three cornerback positions as well as safety, giving Ross plus versatility.

The New York Daily News considers the Giants less likely to re-sign free agent CB Aaron Ross than free agent CB Terrell Thomas.

According to beat writer Ralph Vacchiano, "it appears that Thomas is their preferred choice." Thomas is coming off an ACL tear, but he's a better player when healthy than Ross. It's worth keeping in mind that Ross turns 30 in mid-September. He just finished his rookie contract, but is no spring chicken.
