Bears agreed to terms with DL Turk McBride, formerly of the Saints, on a one-year contract.
McBride is coming off an underwhelming two-year stint in New Orleans where he was active just 15 times and registered only two sacks. A nickel specialist, his snap count will be limited in Chicago if he can crack the 53-man roster. Mar 20 - 1:04 PM

The Bears will host free agent DL Turk McBride on Tuesday.

Though younger, McBride would be a homeless man's version of Israel Idonije as a defensive end on early downs who kicks inside in the nickel. McBride was the 54th overall pick in the 2007 draft. He's never been a high-impact player.

Turk McBride is expected to open the season as the Saints' starting right end with Will Smith out on suspension.

Smith is suspended the first four games for his bounty-scandal role. McBride also started during Smith's two-game StarCaps suspension last season, and generated five quarterback hurries in those contests. He'll return to a backup role once Smith returns. McBride had two sacks in eight 2011 appearances.

Saints re-signed DE Turk McBride to a one-year contract.

McBride looked like a shrewd signing last summer after a five-sack season in Detroit, but he had no noticeable impact in New Orleans. The 27-year-old finished with two sacks in only eight appearances and was a healthy game-day scratch for much of the season. McBride shouldn't struggle to make the 53-man roster, but he's not the answer to the Saints' pass-rushing woes.

Turk McBride is expected to take over as the Saints' starting left defensive end following Alex Brown's release.

First-round pick Cam Jordan has started his career slowly, while McBride racked up six tackles and a sack in the first three preseason games. The job may eventually go to Jordan, but McBride is currently the superior option. In eight starts last season, McBride tallied five sacks and three forced fumbles.

Saints agreed to terms with DE Turk McBride, formerly of the Lions.

The 26-year-old McBride can play both end and tackle, and he recorded career highs in sacks (5) and forced fumbles (3) as an eight-game starter in Detroit last season. The signing makes it increasingly unlikely that the Saints will be able to afford bringing back Alex Brown. They have Will Smith, rookie Cam Jordan, McBride, and promising rush specialist Junior Galette at end.

Lions extended an original pick restricted free agent tender to DE Turk McBride.

The catch is that McBride is a four-year vet, so the tender is likely to be rendered meaningless by the next CBA. McBride did set career highs across the board last season, racking up five sacks and 33 tackles in 15 games.

The Lions hope to re-sign impending free agent DE Turk McBride.

The Lions coaching staff appreciates McBride's versatility and he finally showed a pass-rushing knack. The 25-year-old played well down the stretch at right end, replacing an injured Kyle Vanden Bosch. McBride finished with a career-high five sacks, three of which forced fumbles.

Turk McBride started at defensive end over Cliff Avril for the Lions in Week 5.

McBride was in on early downs while Avril came in for passing situations. Lions coach Jim Schwartz continues to juggle his defensive lineup.

Lions claimed DE Turk McBride off waivers from the Chiefs.

A Copeland Bryan release is likely forthcoming. Theoretically, McBride's move back to a 4-3 defense after failing in Kansas City's 3-4 system would help him, but the guy's never produced in any scheme. He has one career sack.

Chiefs waived LB Turk McBride.

McBride was never a good fit for the Chiefs new 3-4 defense. Expect the Lions, with former Chiefs coordinator Gunther Cunningham running the defense, to snatch up the 2007 second-rounder.

The Chiefs have moved 2007 second-round pick Turk McBride to outside linebacker.

McBride, who's never played linebacker at any level, lacks the body type and speed for the position. The former defensive tackle is going to have a hard time making the team behind Mike Vrabel, Tamba Hali, and Monty Beisel.

Chiefs placed DE Turk McBride (forearm, shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

McBride, a 2007 second-round pick, has proven to this point that he was not deserving of that high a selection. It's unclear who will take his starting position at RE, but the Chiefs' options after McBride are not any good.

Chiefs coach Herm Edwards says DE Turk McBride is in danger of missing the rest of the season with forearm and shoulder injuries.

McBride, the Chiefs' starting right end, would not be a big loss. He has 41 tackles (25 solo) on the season, but no sacks and just one forced fumble.

Chiefs DE Turk McBride suffered a bruised spleen against the Raiders last Sunday.

McBride hopes to play against the Falcons this week, but he isn't sure if he'll be able to go. He was limited in Thursday's practice.
