Redskins CB Josh Wilson has restructured his contract, slashing his base salary from $3.9 million to $2 million.

It's a mild surprise considering the Redskins' extremely cumbersome cap situation. Wilson carries a $5.33M cap hit in 2013, the final year of his current contract. He was a 16-game starter a year ago in the league's third-worst pass defense.

CSN Washington reports the Redskins may approach CB Josh Wilson about a contract extension.

Wilson signed a three-year deal prior to the 2011 season, so he's entering the final year of his contract. He carries a $5.33 million cap hit for 2013, so Washington may want to extend him and reduce the charge. Wilson started all 16 games in 2012, racking up 74 tackles and 13 passes defensed.

Wilson also suffered from concussion-like symptoms late last season. If he's not cleared for Week 3, Cedric Griffin will likely be forced into the starting lineup opposite DeAngelo Hall.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan revealed Monday that CB Josh Wilson felt "woozy" in Sunday's win, and will be tested for a concussion on Tuesday.

Wilson will be in a race against time to get cleared for Saturday's game against the Vikings if he's concussed. If Wilson can't go, Byron Westbrook will likely get the start opposite DeAngelo Hall at cornerback, leaving Kevin Barnes in the slot.

Redskins CB Josh Wilson sustained a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's overtime loss to the Cowboys.

Wilson was unable to return to the game and is set for a Monday MRI. "Any time you're dealing with those hamstring injuries, it's never good," Shanahan said. Wilson is the starting corner opposite DeAngelo Hall. He was replaced yesterday by Byron Westbrook.

"It doesn’t look too bad right now," said coach Mike Shanahan after the game. Wilson was down for several minutes after an awkward tackle attempt, but walked to the locker under his own power. If he can't give it a go in Week 3 against a banged-up Cowboys receiver corps, Kevin Barnes will start in his place.

It looks like a severe injury. Wilson was down for a few minutes after trying to tackle Beanie Wells but refused to get on a cart. He's been replaced by Kevin Barnes.

A graduate of DeMatha Catholic and the University of Maryland, Wilson will stay in the area. Wilson will receive a reasonable $6 million in guarantees, and he could be an upgrade on Carlos Rogers opposite DeAngelo Hall. Wilson excelled in Baltimore last season, grading out Pro Football Focus' fifth-ranked cornerback. The Ravens figure to turn back to Chris Carr after losing out on Wilson.

The Ravens reportedly "hope" to re-sign free agent CB Josh Wilson.

The Baltimore Sun expected Chris Carr to be a higher priority, but the Ravens hadn't contacted his agent as of Tuesday afternoon. Wilson stands a better chance of returning, which makes sense considering he's the better player.

The Ravens' chances of re-signing free agent CB Josh Wilson are "a lot slimmer" after drafting Jimmy Smith.

Wilson is just a four-year veteran, so there's a chance his free agency will be restricted. It's hard to imagine the Ravens not keeping him in that scenario. Wilson was Pro Football Focus' fifth-rated corner last season, so he should garner plenty of interest if he hits the open market.

The Ravens have had preliminary contract talks with free agent CB Josh Wilson.

They also gave him a tender, though it will be meaningless once a new CBA is reached for the four-year veteran. Wilson has his inconsistencies in coverage, but he is a game-changing cornerback with some return value. It remains to be seen if the Ravens ware willing to commit enough money to retain him.

The Seahawks will receive just a fifth-round pick for the trade that sent CB Josh Wilson to Baltimore.

Wilson made nine starts after the October trade as arguably Baltimore's top corner by season's end, so terms for the pick to upgrade were lofty. Wilson also picked off three passes, including a pick-six in a thrilling Week 14 win at Houston. Unfortunately, Wilson isn't signed for 2011. He'd be an excellent re-signing if he's willing to return at a reasonable rate.

Ravens CB Josh Wilson suffered a shoulder stinger in Sunday's win over the Bengals and his status for the opening round of the playoffs is unknown.

Fabian Washington, who lost his starting job to Wilson back in Week 10, would not be a huge downgrade. The Ravens' game plan figures to center around stopping the Chiefs' dynamic running game.
