Steelers waived FB Dwayne Wright, OT Adrian Jones, CB David Pittman, and LB Brandon Renkart.
They also released LB Andre Frazier with an injury settlement. Wright was claimed off waivers a month ago, but he failed to beat out Frank Summers and Sean McHugh for a lead-blocking role. Jones isn't long for the NFL if he couldn't land a job on the Steelers' offensive line. Tue, Aug 31, 2010 10:48:00 AM

Steelers claimed FB Dwayne Wright off waivers from the Eagles.

They cut undrafted fullback Demetrius Taylor to make room. Wright will battle Frank Summers and Sean McHugh for one or two roster spots in camp.

Eagles waived FB Dwayne Wright.

The Eagles are suddenly flush in the backfield, choosing to keep Martell Mallett over Wright. He'll try to latch on somewhere else as a blocker.

Eagles signed FB Dwayne Wright to a two-year contract.

This is the same Dwayne Wright who was drafted as a running back by the Bills back in 2007. Unimpressive as a runner, Wright has bulked up and will try to make it as a lead-blocker.

Bills released RB Dwayne Wright.

The team's website thought Wright was safe a month ago, but the burly fourth-round pick from 2007 fumbled three times in the preseason. He has generally been unimpressive as a pro. Fred Jackson is entrenched as Marshawn Lynch's backup. Xavier Omon made the team as a third running back.

Dwayne Wright is in danger of the not making the Bills after fumbling three times in four preseason games.

Buffalo News gives the final roster spot to rookie Xavier Omon while the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle believes Wright will keep the job with Omon going to the practice squad.

Dwayne Wright is in little danger of losing his roster spot to rookie Xavier Omon, according to writer Chris Brown.

Brown believes Omon needs an "unbelievable" training camp to push Wright down the depth chart or off the roster. They are similar players (big, slow), but Wright is a more polished receiver and Omon is coming from D-II.

As expected, Bills RB Dwayne Wright is facing competition for the third tailback role from rookie Xavier Omon.

Fred Jackson's hold on the backup job is secure, so the third tailback role is more pertinent for dynasty leaguers. Wright didn't show much last season while Omon was seen as one of the most intriguing running back sleepers in the draft.

Dwayne Wright had only two carries for 14 yards in Buffalo's Week 13 win.

He had a nice 15-yard scamper in the first half, but remains the Bills' fourth-string running back and is only roster-worthy in dynasty formats.

Dwayne Wright rushed 12 times for 25 yards and caught one pass for eight yards in Week 8 against the Jets.

Wright was pushed into duty as Marshawn Lynch's backup because of Anthony Thomas' eye injury and then saw more action than expected when Lynch briefly left the game with a hip injury of his own. The fourth-round pick didn't show a whole lot and isn't a fantasy factor.

Bills RB Dwayne Wright rushed for 21 yards on nine carries and caught one pass for nine yards in the Bills' exhibition loss Friday night.

Wright executed in short-yardage situations, but didn't play until the second-team offense was in. He's not a major threat for goal-line carries yet.

Bills RB Dwayne Wright saw few reps at the first day of training camp, while Anthony Thomas ran exclusively with the first-team offense.

Wright v. Thomas remains a key camp battle to watch, but it's clear A-Train is the leader for now and an OK handcuff for Marshawn Lynch in deep leagues.

Bills signed fourth-round RB Dwayne Wright to a four-year contract.

Wright has impressed this summer, and will be an immediate candidate for carries behind Marshawn Lynch. The Fresno State product has a downhill style that should be conducive to short-yardage situations. If he wins the backup job over Anthony Thomas, he's worth a look in deep leagues.

Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild calls fourth-round pick Dwayne Wright a "good tough-nosed, downhill runner."

"He looks a little more elusive and is able to function in the passing game better than I thought he might," Fairchild said. "We'll just see." Wright could vulture goal-line carries from projected Bills starter Marshawn Lynch.

Bills rookie RB Dwayne Wright is a candidate for short-yardage carries.

Marshawn Lynch will be Buffalo's starter but Wright, a fourth-rounder, has better size. This will be a situation to monitor in training camp.
