The Jets could have interest in TE Scott Chandler this offseason.
Chandler's a potential cap cut after closing out the year in a limited role. The Jets have a need for a veteran tight end with Jace Amaro coming off a lost season. Chandler would be a fit for OC Chan Gailey’s scheme after posting career highs in touchdowns under him in Buffalo. The Patriots would save $2.1 million from releasing Chandler. Jan 30 - 4:35 PM

ESPN Boston expects the Patriots to release Scott Chandler.

Including the playoffs, Chandler played only 399 snaps. Just 34 of those came after Week 13. Chandler is a solid blocker, but a definite stretch at his scheduled 2016 salary of $2 million. Rob Gronkowski's injury history means the Pats would ideally have a competent backup, but they'll likely gamble they can upgrade Chandler, and probably for cheap.

Scott Chandler wasn't targeted in the Patriots' AFC Championship Game loss to the Broncos.

Including the regular season, Chandler drew five targets over his final five games. Chandler isn't a lock to be back at his $2 million salary in 2016.

Scott Chandler (knee) is listed as questionable for Saturday's Divisional Round game against the Chiefs.

Chandler is expected to play after practicing on a limited basis all week. He would only have value if Rob Gronkowski (questionable, knee/back) is held out.
Jan 15 - 5:02 PM

Scott Chandler (knee) is expected to play Sunday against the Jets.

He practiced on a limited basis this week. Chandler won't see much playing time behind the league's top tight end, Rob Gronkowski. Fantasy owners should be looking elsewhere for tight end production.

Scott Chandler (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Chandler played one snap in Week 14 and was inactive last week. Even if he returns Sunday, Chandler will have a minor role against the Jets.

Patriots TE Scott Chandler (knee) is inactive for Week 15 against the Titans.

Chandler is no longer needed with Rob Gronkowski continuing to rock and roll. Also inactive for the Patriots are WR Julian Edelman, C Bryan Stork, LB Jonathan Freeny, S Devin McCourty, OT LaAdrian Waddle and DT Ishmaa'ily Kitchen. Duron Harmon is starting in McCourty's place.

Scott Chandler (knee) remained "limited" on Thursday.

Chandler should play against the Titans, but is no longer fantasy relevant with Rob Gronkowski back in the fold.

Scott Chandler (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Chandler played only one snap despite being active last week. He should be dropped with Rob Gronkowski healthy.
Wed, Dec 16, 2015 04:41:00 PM

Scott Chandler was held without a catch in Week 14.

Chandler was active, but barely saw the field (1 snap). He was limited in practice all week and clearly isn't over his knee injury. With Rob Gronkowski healthy, Chandler can be dropped in re-draft leagues.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Scott Chandler (questionable, knee) is expected to play Sunday night against the Texans.

His role is uncertain with Rob Gronkowski (knee) also expected to be active. The lack of clarity regarding the usage of Gronkowski and Chandler may not be determined by the Patriots themselves until pre-game warmups. So it's very hard to provide a concrete fantasy take on the situation. If Gronk plays -- as expected -- we'd want to start him and to not start Chandler.

ESPN's Adam Schefter indicated on NFL Insiders that Scott Chandler (knee, questionable) is truly questionable to play Sunday night against the Texans.

The Patriots often list players as questionable even when they're expected to play. Schefter, however, hinted that the Patriots put in a specific game plan in case both Chandler and Rob Gronkowski (knee, questionable) can't play on Sunday Night Football. Fantasy owners leaning on Chandler and Gronk need to pick up a late-game fallback option. We'd rank those late-game options as Will Tye > Jordan Cameron > Ryan Griffin.

Scott Chandler (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Chandler turned in "limited" practices each day this week. He is not known to be dealing with a significant injury, and we would expect Chandler to be available for Sunday night's game against the Texans. Chandler's fantasy outlook is heavily impacted by the status of Rob Gronkowski, who was "limited" in Thursday and Friday's practices and is listed as questionable.

Scott Chandler (knee) remained limited at Thursday's practice.

Chandler is going to be fine for Sunday's game at Houston. The question is whether Rob Gronkowski (knee) will play after returning to a limited practice on Thursday. Obviously Chandler's window of fantasy relevance will close as soon as Gronk returns to the mix.

Scott Chandler (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Patriots beat writers haven't expressed any concern over the injury. Even at less than full health, Chandler will be a streaming option for however long Rob Gronkowski is out.
