Special teams coach Mike Westhoff suggested the Jets kicking job is no longer Nick Folk's to lose.

Westhoff concedes that Folk had the edge entering last summer's competition with Nick Novak, but that won't be the case with Josh Brown this time around. Westhoff was disappointed that the position wasn't upgraded during the draft, as the Jets were believed to be interested in Vikings sixth-rounder Blair Walsh.

Jets re-signed K Nick Folk.

Folk converted just 19-of-25 field-goal attempts in 2011, but will hang onto his job by a thread for another offseason. The Jets are determined to bring in competition to push him in camp.

Nick Folk's one-year deal with the Jets will not guarantee the Week 1 kicking job.

The Jets signed Nick Novak back in February, and one team source expects him to give Folk a run for his money. Novak will have to out-kick Folk by a wide margin to win the job.

Jets agreed to terms with K Nick Folk.

Folk's hold on the Jets' kicking job seemed tenuous from offseason practices through the end of last season, but he did connect on 30 field goals, good for fourth in the league. Perhaps more importantly, Folk drilled all 10 eight of his post-season field goal attempts.

The New York Post expects the Jets to re-sign free agent K Nick Folk.

The Jets signed Nick Novak before the lockout, but unless they decide to go after somebody like free agent David Akers, Folk will likely again be the man for Gang Green. Folk has a huge leg, but has averaged over 10 field-goal misses per season the past three years.

Coach Rex Ryan is inclined to stick with Nick Folk this week after the kicker missed a long field goal Monday night.

Ryan is taking the blame for Folk's 53-yarder that never came close to the uprights. "Maybe that's something I need to look at, is maybe not attempt that kind of kick, his first kick of the day," Ryan said. Folk isn't a fantasy option until he proves far more reliable.

The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reports that the Jets are likely to stick with Nick Folk for the Week 13 game against the Patriots.

The Jets had Kris Brown in for a workout Tuesday. Mehta says the decision is "not written in stone," but it sounds like Folk will be given one more chance to kick for his job Monday night.

ESPN's Rich Cimini has learned that the Jets are checking into the availability of free agent kickers.

Cimini reports that the team will work out an unidentified kicker on Tuesday. Jeff Reed, Kris Brown, and Matt Stover are the top names on the market. If you own Nick Folk, feel free to swap him for another kicker.

Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff insists he hasn't lost confidence in K Nick Folk, who missed three field goals last week at Cleveland.

In typical Westhoff style, he called the field conditions in Cleveland "a joke" and a "a disgrace." He still thinks Folk has no excuses for the missed 24-yarder, though: "You should kick that ball in backwards."

Nick Folk solidified his job as the Jets' kicker by going 3-for-3 on Saturday night.

After an erratic offseason, Folk has been strong in the preseason. He made kicks of 43 and 49 yards last night and is now 6-for-7 in two exhibition games. Folk is in a good place mentally right now, but there are safer options out there for fantasy owners.

Jets coach Rex Ryan has gone on record as saying he's "officially not worried" about K Nick Folk.

Ryan is trying to fluff Folk's feathers after an erratic offseason, going as far as to call him "our Pro Bowl kicker." Folk is off to a good start in training camp, but we won't feel great about his fantasy value until he proves he's over the yips in preseason action.

Jets K Nick Folk struggled mightily in Thursday's practice, missing his first four field goal attempts before receiving a "bronx cheer" on his first successful kick.

Folk had confidence issues aplenty last season, and starting off on the wrong foot (so to speak) certainly won't help matters. Coach Rex Ryan called the performance "a little bit concerning" but added that he thinks Folk "is going to be fine." Ryan should probably keep Matt Stover on speed dial.

Jets K Nick Folk believes his struggles last year all stemmed from his offseason hip surgery to repair a labral tear.

Folk said he developed bad habits and poor technique because he wasn't fully recovered when he started kicking again. "Everything leads back to the surgery," Folk said. "That's what I can attribute it to." Folk was one of the most reliable kickers in the league in 2007-08.

Jets signed K Nick Folk, formerly of the Cowboys, to a one-year deal.

Folk had also tried out with the Giants last week. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jets are now expected to allow Jay Feely to test free agency, and Folk will be the favorite to take over. After Folk's confidence issues last season, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Jets add veteran competition.
