Former 49ers CB Ahmed Plummer has officially retired from football.
A first-round pick in 2000, Plummer started for San Francisco from his rookie year until 2003. Injuries cost him much of the following two seasons and he clashed with Mike Nolan when the coach took over in 2004. Plummer, 30, had drawn mild interest from the Titans during the offseason after being released by the Niners in February. Sat, Jun 17, 2006 11:59:00 AM

Titans GM Floyd Reese has talked with CBs Ty Law and Ahmed Plummer recently.

Plummer, a former first-round pick on the down side of his career, is an interesting possibility, especially if the team doesn't get rid of Steve McNair's cap figure. He'd cost much less than Law.

49ers cornerback Ahmed Plummer will miss "several" weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle.

Plummer is probably San Francisco's cornerback. The team lost a lot of defensive talent this week, so look for San Francisco to get attacked often through the air. Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald are better plays this week.

CB Ahmed Plummer is seeking a second opinion on his injured ankle.

''I couldn't cut, I couldn't walk. It was weak and giving out on me,'' Plummer said. ''To be honest, it was a blessing I could even play.'' Plummer may need surgery to remove a loose bone from the ankle, which would likely keep him out for 3-6 weeks.
