Free agent DT Matt Toeaina said he might need another procedure on his right knee.
Toeaina underwent a scope a two days after Christmas, but he still isn't right. The former sixth-round pick has played in all 16 games just once in his five-year career. Toeaina will have to prove his health before latching on elsewhere. Apr 2 - 10:44 AM

Bears released DT Matt Toeaina.

Toeaina, coming off of arthroscopic knee surgery, was set to make $760,000 in 2013 base salary, $290,000 in roster bonuses, and a $75,000 workout bonus. That's too much for a bit player who played in just three games last year due to the knee injury. Toeaina reportedly declined a pay cut.

Bears placed DT Matt Toeaina (knee) on season-ending injured reserve and promoted OT Cory Brandon from the practice squad.

Toeaina appeared in just three games this season and registered four tackles. After being the starting nose tackle in 2011, he fell behind Stepen Paea and Nate Collins on the depth chart this season. Toeaina is signed for $760,000 in 2013. Brandon has never appeared in an NFL game after entering the league in 2011 out of Oklahoma.

Bears DT Matt Toeaina is expected to miss "a couple of weeks" after an MRI revealed a sprained PCL in his knee.

The Bears' starting nose tackle, Toeania will be replaced by Anthony Adams next to "three-technique" Henry Melton. Adams is better against the run, anyway, so we wouldn't expect a noticeable difference on Chicago's interior.

Bears NT Matt Toeaina will undergo an MRI after suffering a sprained knee late in Monday night's game.

The Bears are also waiting to see how serious Julius Peppers' knee injury is after he left the locker room limping. Anthony Adams would fill in if Toeania misses this week's game against the Vikings.

Matt Toeaina will be the Bears' starting nose tackle for Sunday's game against the Falcons.

It looks like Toeaina has done enough to surpass Anthony Adams on the depth chart. Toeaina was a force in Chicago's front four rotation early last season, but wore down in the latter weeks. Now with a full season under his belt, Toeaina will look to get consistent output on a weekly basis.

Bears signed DT Matt Toeaina to a three-year, $6 million extension through 2013. The deal includes $2 million guaranteed.

Toeania became a key cog in Chicago's front four rotation this season, and was due for restricted free agency in 2011. A 28-year-old former sixth-round pick, Toeaina racked up season highs in tackles (23) and sacks (2) on about 33-38 snaps per game. He's now signed through his age-31 season.

Bears DT Matt Toeaina will start in place of Tommie Harris on Monday night.

Toeania was a sixth-round pick of the Bengals in 2007, and has only seven career tackles. Toeaina has impressed those around the Bears thus far, and has a great opportunity to make a name for himself.

Bears DT Matt Toeaina will be the main beneficiary of Dusty Dvoracek's season-ending knee injury.

Toeaina was on the roster bubble before Dvoracek went down. Now the former sixth-round pick figures to not only be on the team, but be part of the rotation. Anthony Adams and Marcus Harrison are projected as the team's top nose tackles.

Bears signed DT Matt Toeaina off the Bengals' practice squad.

A sixth-round pick out of Oregon in April, Toeaina immediately becomes the Bears' fifth defensive tackle. He was known as a run stopper with the Ducks.

Bengals released DL Matt Toeaina, TE Tim Day, G Nate Livings, FB Chris Manderino, G Harrison Nikolao, LB Matt Muncy, DE Xzavie Jackson, WR Jesse Holley, LB Earl Everett, and RB Curtis Brown.

Toeaina was a run stopper drafted in the sixth round, and Day was slowed by a knee injury early in camp. The rest of the cuts were expected.

Bengals signed sixth-round DT Matt Toeania to a four-year contract.

The Bengals seem high on the Oregon product, and he could help ease the loss of Shaun Smith. Toeania looks like a a situational, run-stuffing reserve.
