Broncos signed C Manny Ramirez to a two-year extension through 2015.
A journeyman before landing in Denver, Ramirez has emerged as a rock-solid center after arriving as a guard out of Texas Tech in the 2007 draft. He was previously only signed through 2013. Ramirez has earned the trust of Peyton Manning and looks to be locked in as Denver's pivot for the foreseeable future. Wed, Sep 11, 2013 08:44:00 PM

Manuel Ramirez is expected to open the season as the Broncos' starting center.

A converted guard, Ramirez has quietly graded out as a top-eight center in Pro Football Focus' 2013 preseason ratings. Ryan Lilja was signed as insurance, but has experienced recurring knee issues following offseason microfracture surgery. Ramirez has a big opportunity in the last year of his contract.

Manny Ramirez is running as the Broncos' first-team center in the absence of Dan Koppen.

He's been promoted from Triple-A Round Rock. Lame jokes aside, it's not a positive development for Peyton Manning. Ramirez is a career backup, and was barely replacement level when forced into action at right guard last season. G/C C.J. Davis is the Broncos' other in-house possibility. The options on the open market are vanishingly thin. Former Manning teammate Jeff Saturday has already said he has no interest in un-retiring.

The Denver Post's Mike Klis expects Manny Ramirez to be the Broncos' starting center in the wake of J.D. Walton's ankle surgery.

Yikes. Ramirez is a career backup that has mostly played guard in his six seasons. He did start 11 games for the Broncos at right guard last season after Chris Kuper's injury, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 30 overall guard. John Elway would be wise to kick the tires on a free-agent market that includes Dan Koppen, Jeff Faine and Eugene Amano. Philip Blake, a 2012 fourth-rounder that missed most of his rookie season due to thumb surgery, is also an option.

Broncos re-signed OG Manuel Ramirez.

The 29-year-old Ramirez appeared in just two games last season. Only a backup-caliber lineman, Ramirez will have to battle hard to make Denver's roster.

Lions released OG Manny Ramirez.

Ramirez was a guilty party on a disastrous Lions offensive line from 2007-2009 before moving to a bench role this season. His release leaves only Calvin Johnson and Drew Stanton from the Lions' 2007 draft haul.

Lions OG Manny Ramirez is "down to his last chance," according to beat writer Tom Kowalski.

Ramirez is no longer competing for a starting gig with Rob Sims in town -- he's just trying to make the team. Kowalski speculates that the Lions may go with someone younger if Ramirez continues to show mental breakdowns in training camp.

Lions re-signed restricted free agent OG Manny Ramirez to a one-year, $1.101 million contract.

Ramirez was tendered at the original pick level, despite starting 12 games last year. He'd ideally be a backup as Detroit tries to improve its wretched offensive line and keep Matthew Stafford's head attached to his shoulders.

The Lions have assigned an original pick tender to restricted free agent OG Manuel Ramirez.

Ramirez, originally a fourth-round pick, started 12 games last season, mostly at left guard. He was one of the weaker members of Detroit's offensive line.

Lions G Manny Ramirez, a fourth-round pick in 2007, is in danger of losing his roster spot this summer.

The Lions picked up Daniel Loper, Jon Jansen, Ephraim Salaam and Toniu Fonoti this offseason, and Ramirez hasn't taken well to his backup center experiment. The new staff wants versatility in their backups, so Ramirez is on the way out.

Lions signed G Manuel Ramirez to a three-year contract.

The fourth-round pick is a project out of Texas Tech. At 337 pounds, he was one of the strongest players in the draft and could develop into a mauler despite focusing on pass protection in Mike Leach's spread. Ramirez will provide depth as a rookie and could eventually replace Damien Woody.
