Packers ILB Desmond Bishop (hamstring) says he'll be "110 percent" for training camp, and is aiming to be the Defensive Player of the Year in 2013.
Bishop missed all of 2012 with a torn hamstring. Going on 29, Bishop is one of the Packers' better defenders when healthy, but has never flirted with All-Pro status. In other words, his DPOY talk is just aimless chatter. Bishop was bandied about as a trade candidate during the draft, but is locked into a starting job at inside linebacker. May 20 - 9:40 AM

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports ILB Desmond Bishop trade talks "didnt get off the ground" because of the Packers' asking price.

The Packers were "actively shopping" Bishop during the draft, but unlike the Dolphins with Davone Bess, they don't want to just give him away. Going on 29, Bishop missed all of 2012 with a ruptured hamstring. Green Bay is still Bishop's most likely home for 2013, but he may have to take a pay-cut. He's currently scheduled to make $3.5 million.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah reports the Packers are "actively shopping" ILB Desmond Bishop.

Bishop, 29 in July, missed the entire 2012 season with a ruptured right hamstring. His agent recently said his client was at "85-90 percent." The Packers have openly expressed their desire to get more physical, and Bishop is easily the team's best defensive thumper. He's also a three-down player. GM Ted Thompson recently handed ILB Brad Jones a three-year, $11.75 million deal, and Thompson usually likes to shed his veterans as they near 30 years old. Bishop has two years left on his contract at roughly $3.5 million per year.

Packers ILB Desmond Bishop's (hamstring) agent says his client is at "85-90 percent."

"I’d have to ask him but he’s getting there," said Bishop's agent. "He’s getting there. I think he’ll be fully cleared for all of the off-season stuff." Bishop missed the entire 2012 season, and his thumping presence in the middle was missed. As a three-down linebacker, he's a player to monitor in IDP formats.

Packers ILB Desmond Bishop (hamstring) will be fully recovered soon, and is expected to participate in OTAs.

Bishop ruptured his right hamstring in the preseason opener and missed the entire 2012 season. Being almost six months removed from the injury now, Bishop will "spend his entire offseason training and working out, as opposed to going through rehabilitation." OTAs start in late-May. Green Bay sorely missed Bishop's physical presence in the middle last season.

The NFL and NFLPA have agreed to allow teams to pull a player with a "major injury" off of their injured reserve list and re-activate them during the 2012 season.

Each team can only bring back one player during the season; that player must be "designated for return" at the time he's placed on injured reserve. For 2012 only, teams are allowed an exception for players already placed on I.R. The Packers, for example, can reactivate ILB Desmond Bishop (hamstring surgery) by Friday night and designate him for return. The one player chosen must spend at least six weeks on I.R. before returning to practice.

Packers placed ILB Desmond Bishop on injured reserve with a ruptured right hamstring, ending his season.

Bishop recently underwent surgery after suffering the injury in Green Bay's preseason opener. Bishop was one of the lone bright spots for Green Bay's disappointing defense last season, notching 115 tackles and five sacks in 13 games. D.J. Smith is expected to be a "100-percent" player opposite A.J. Hawk in Bishop's absence.

Packers ILB Desmond Bishop is scheduled to undergo surgery on his ruptured right hamstring on August 17, and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

In addition to the hamstring injury, Bishop suffered a knee sprain in Thursday's preseason opener, and will almost certainly be placed on injured reserve. D.J. Smith is now the favorite to start opposite A.J. Hawk in the Packers' base defense. Bishop is a fiercely physical defender with big-play ability, and his loss is a big early blow to a Green Bay defense that struggled throughout last season. Smith is now a player to target in IDP leagues.

The Packers fear ILB Desmond Bishop will miss "a good portion, if not all" of the upcoming season due to a severe right hamstring injury.

It sounds like a rupture of the muscle. Coach Mike McCarthy conceded after the preseason opener that Bishop's injury "didn't look very good," and he underwent testing Friday morning. Although Bishop initially appeared to suffer injuries to both his knee and hamstring, the knee checked out fine. It sounds like he may be sidelined for months with the hamstring injury, though.

In addition to a knee sprain, Packers ILB Desmond Bishop also suffered a potential hamstring injury in Thursday's preseason opener.

"Desmond's injury didn't look very good," acknowledged coach Mike McCarthy. "Hopefully we'll get some good news but it's up in the air." Bishop will have to undergo testing to determine the severity of the sprain. He was projected to be a top-15 IDP linebacker for the 2012 season.

Packers ILB Desmond Bishop left Thursday's preseason opener with a right knee injury.

Bishop was carted off the field and did not return. The Packers' beat writers had no updates during the game, but we should have more information during the week. Initial indications were that Bishop's injury is significant.

Packers ILB Desmond Bishop (calf) has been medically cleared for camp.

Bishop passed his physical and will come off the active/PUP list. In 13 starts a year ago, Bishop racked up an impressive 115 tackles with five sacks and two forced fumbles. He'll return as a top-15 IDP linebacker in 2012.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy believes ILB Desmond Bishop (calf) could be ready to practice before the end of the week.

The same is true of FB John Kuhn, who has yet to receive clearance after injuring his knee in the playoffs. On the NFI list, Bishop had previously been without a timetable for a return. Bishop will still likely miss the Packers' first preseason game, but should be ready for the rest of Green Bay's exhibition slate if he indeed returns before the end of the week.

Packers ILB Desmond Bishop (calf) said he expects to be medically cleared for the regular season.

Bishop is currently on the NFI list, and remains without a timetable to return. Given his history of calf issues, this has potential to be a lingering injury. D.J. Smith will get an extended look opposite AJ Hawk in training camp.

Packers ILB Desmond Bishop failed his training camp physical after suffering a calf strain in a workout last week.

"Don't really have a time frame because we've had some history with his calf last year and missed a couple weeks," explained coach Mike McCarthy. "I'm sure we'll be cautious before we get him back out there." Also failing the Packers physical were FB John Kuhn (knee), OT Derek Sherrod (leg), TE Andrew Quarless (knee), OG Jaymes Brooks (hamstring), DL Johnny Jones (knee) and OLB Frank Zombo (hamstring).
