The Bucs reportedly aren't counting out Adam Hayward as a candidate for the starting middle linebacker job.

Bucs re-signed LB Adam Hayward to a three-year contract.

Hayward recorded 29 tackles and one sack as a backup linebacker at all three spots and special teamer last year. His role projects similarly in 2011. Hayward garnered some interest from the Rams last week, but ends up with the team that drafted him back in 2007.

The Rams are reportedly showing interest in free agent LB Adam Hayward.

The Rams have been connected to a slew of second- and third-tier linebackers. They may only be offering just above the minimum considering the targets. Hayward was the Bucs' sixth-round pick in 2007. He's made four career starts.

The Bucs are expected to use both Adam Hayward and Dekoda Watson at SLB to fill in for the injured Quincy Black (forearm).

Hayward should get most of the snaps, as he plays more in the base defense, while Watson will be out there in the nickel defense. It's not a particularly enticing situation for IDP owners.

The Portland State alum will battle for a backup middle linebacker slot. The Bucs have now signed four of their draft picks.
