Dolphins agreed to terms with P Brandon Fields on a four-year, $13 million extension.

The deal locks Fields up through 2016, and includes $3.3 million guaranteed. He'll count $1.728 million against the cap this season. A 16-game starter every year since 2007, Fields' net punting average of 41.1 yards was fourth in the NFL in 2011.

The Palm Beach Post doesn't have bonus details, but Fields will collect base salaries of $598,000, $726,000, and $864,000 over the next three seasons. A well built punter at 6'5/245, Fields ranked eighth in the league in net average (39.8) among punters with at least 40 attempts. In overall yardage average, Fields ranked an even more impressive sixth with 46.3.

Always good to know. Fields is about 6'5/240 and Parcells loves size at every position. The Dolphins didn't pursue competition for Fields this offseason.
