Redskins P Sav Rocca will undergo surgery repair a torn MCL in his knee.

Rocca expects to be kicking again by April. The 39-year-old is a free agent in 2013. He wants to play for another 2-3 years. Rocca finished in the middle of the pack in Pro Football Focus' punter ratings for 2012.

Redskins P Sav Rocca (questionable, knee) is expected to be able to punt on Sunday against the Giants.

Rocca was injured while jogging after practice this week, and there was some concern about his availability for Week 7. The Redskins worked out three free agent punters on Friday. Rocca has a net average of 37.3 yards-per-punt with nine inside the 20 through six games.

Redskins P Sav Rocca is stranded in his native Australia as he waits for the U.S. government to grant him a work visa.

The Redskins aren't worried as they haven't signed another punter yet. They are hoping to get Rocca in camp by Monday. "If not, I told him to get married to an American and that'll make it easier," coach Mike Shanahan joked. Rocca already has a wife in Australia.

Redskins agreed to terms with P Sav Rocca, formerly of the Eagles.

Mike Shanahan loves him some old punters. (He was also reported to be targeting Brad Maynard.) Rocca, entering his age-38 season, did rank eighth in the NFL in net average last season, so he's a much better option than Maynard or incumbents Josh Bidwell and Sam Paulescu. The Skins still won't win many games.

The Eagles did not extend tenders to P Sav Rocca and LB Omar Gaither, making them unrestricted free agents.

Gaither fell out of favor awhile ago, so the Eagles' decision to part ways isn't the least bit surprising. Rocca is entering his age-38 season. He tied for 15th in the NFL in gross punting average and ranked eighth in net average, so the Eagles might still consider bringing him back for one more year. Only six punters forced returners to fair catch more punts than Rocca in 2010.

Eagles re-signed restricted free agent P Sav Rocca to a one-year, $1.101 million contract.

Rocca's 42.4 average was in the lower half of the league, but he finished in the middle of the pack in net average at 38.3. The Eagles signed Durant Brooks in February, so Rocca will have to fight to keep his job this summer.

The Eagles extended an original pick tender to restricted free agent P Saverio Rocca.

Rocca is 36, so the Birds wouldn't be opposed to finding a long-term solution. He's also struggled with his hang time. The Eagles did sign Durant Brooks to a futures contract this winter. Brooks was an elite college punter.
