We're assuming the knee complications are rooted in last year's torn ACL. Koets, a former offensive tackle, has been converted to center entering his fifth season in the league. He was set to open the year as David Baas' backup.

The team is initially calling it a sprain, and coach Tom Coughlin says he's "hoping against hope" the Koets and David Diehl (hip) will be ready for Week 9 against Dallas. With New York reshuffling its line in Week 9, Koets played mostly as a "jumbo" tight end. Rich Seubert started at center.

Coach Tom Coughlin is prepared to move forward with Adam Koets starting at center due to Shaun O'Hara's ongoing problems with his left Achilles.

"We're not sure where this is going to lead," Coughlin said of O'Hara's injury. He added, "We certainly think we can go forward with Adam at center. We've played him an awful lot. He's had a lot of preseason work. He's had game work now." Koets replace O'Hara in the lineup in Week 3 and Coughlin said he was "pretty solid."
