CSN Philly envisions Allen Barbre pushing Todd Herremans for the Eagles' starting right guard job.
Barbre will open the season at right tackle while Lane Johnson serves a four-game suspension for a PED violation. But after signing Barbre to a three-year extension earlier in the offseason, the Eagles plan on using him more. He's a plus athlete who can play both guard and tackle. Herremans is 31 and has a $4.2 million cap number. He struggled as a pass protector last season. Jul 27 - 11:08 AM

Eagles G/T Allen Barbre will likely take over at right tackle during Lane Johnson's suspension.

Signed to a three-year extension earlier in the offseason, Barbre is clearly the Eagles' top reserve lineman and should get the first crack at replacing Johnson. Barbre is not as athletic as Johnson, but he still possesses the plus quickness and athleticism coach Chip Kelly requires from his offensive linemen. Barbre played 89 offensive snaps at left and right tackle last season.

Eagles signed G/T Allen Barbre to a three-year contract extension through 2017.

Barbre, 30 later this month, can play both guard and tackle and played 89 offensive snaps at left and right tackle in 2013. He's the Eagles' top reserve up front. At the 2007 Combine, Barbre finished second in the forty (4.84), sixth in the shuttle (4.63), and second (7.40) in the three-cone drill at his position, so he fits coach Chip Kelly's scheme as a quick, athletic lineman. LG Evan Mathis and RG Todd Herremans have high salaries and are both in their thirties.

A fourth-round pick back in 2007, Barbre was released by Seattle in October before appearing in a single 2012 game. He's started seven of 32 games over six seasons.

Seahawks released T/G Allen Barbre.

28-year-old Barbre was just coming off suspension for an undisclosed violation of league policy. The Seahawks clearly didn't believe he could help them.

NFL suspended Seahawks T/G Allen Barbre four games for an undisclosed violation of league policy.

A versatile, 28-year-old reserve, Barbre appeared in four games with Seattle last season without making a start. He was going to compete for a roster spot in training camp. The lack of availability won't help Barbre's chances.

Seahawks signed OL Allen Barbre, formerly of the Dolphins.

The Dolphins waived/injured Barbre in training camp due to an undisclosed injury, but he's recovered now. Seahawks GM John Schneider was still in Green Bay when the Packers made Barbre the 119th overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft.

Dolphins placed OT Allen Barbre on injured reserve, ending his season.

Dolphins signed OT Allen Barbre.

The Packers' 2007 fourth-rounder spent time with the Seahawks earlier in the season. The Dolphins will kick his tires to see if he's worth taking into the offseason.

Seahawks signed OL Allen Barbre.

GM John Schneider can't quit his Packers castoffs on the offensive line. Barbre may be a better choice than Tyler Polumbus as a backup tackle, considering his athleticism in the Seahawks' zone-blocking scheme.
Tue, Sep 28, 2010 06:04:00 PM

Packers released OL Allen Barbre with an injury settlement.

The 2007 fourth-rounder failed miserably in his early-season audition at right tackle last year. He had been nursing a back injury in camp. Considering his athleticism, zone blocking teams will likely kick his tires once he's healthy.

Packers OL Allen Barbre is not expected to make the final roster this year.

Barbre, a 2007 fourth-round pick, flopped badly when asked to start the first seven games of last season at right tackle. He has rare athleticism, but it apparently doesn't translate to the field. Zone-blocking clubs like the Redskins, Texans, Raiders, and Seahawks will have interest if he's cut.

Packers declared OL Allen Barbre, WR Biren Ealy, CB Josh Bell, FB Quinn Johnson, S Matt Giordano, T Breno Giacomini, DE Michael Montgomery, and LB Jeremy Thompson inactive for Week 13.

Barbre was once the starting RT but struggled mightily and is now dealing with an ankle injury. Thompson suffered a neck injury on Friday and may not play for the rest of the season.
Mon, Dec 7, 2009 07:37:00 PM

Packers RT Allen Barbre gave up two sacks and allowed five hits on Aaron Rodgers in the first half Sunday night.

Barbre just won the job last month, but the Packers obviously didn't like what they saw against Adewale Ogunleye. "Yeah, I’m concerned," OC Joe Philbin said of Barbre. Barbre got help in the second half and fared better, but Rodgers needs Barbre to do a better job if he's going to have a big year.
