Colts released RBs Kenton Keith and Chad Simpson.
He'll always have his 158-total yard start in 2007. Keith played quite well for the Colts, but he may have been a product of the system. Odds are against him finding a job this season. Sat, Aug 30, 2008 06:53:00 PM

Kenton Keith didn't enter the Colts' game until late in the fourth quarter Saturday, after Clifton Dawson.

It looks safe to say Keith is unlikely to make the Colts. Mike Hart and Dominic Rhodes split second team reps, and appear to be the remaining contenders for Joseph Addai's backup spot.

The Indianapolis Star speculates that Kenton Keith will not make the Colts.

Beat writer Phillip B. Wilson believes Mike Hart is safe and it'll come down to Keith, Clifton Dawson, or Chad Simpson for the fourth spot behind Joe Addai and Dominic Rhodes. Dawson could stay because of his special teams play.

Indiana News suspects that Kenton Keith's recent off-the-field trouble means that finding a No. 2 running back in the draft is now a more pressing issue.

The team had already planned to keep their eyes open for a tempo changing upgrade on Keith, but this most recent news may increase the level of urgency.

Colts RB Kenton Keith pleaded not guilty to criminal trespassing for refusing to leave a nightclub parking lot.

Keith may find himself replaced after the Colts' draft this weekend, but at least he's out of jail on his recognizance.

Charges of disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication, and contributing to the delinquincy of a minor will not be pursued against Colts RB Kenton Keith.

Keith only faces a charge of trespassing. The Colts are still likely to take the matter seriously, but may not consider releasing Keith now.

The Colts have released a statement on RB Kenton Keith, who was arrested early Sunday on four different charges.

"Any incident involving any players with law enforcement we view very seriously, and we will act accordingly," team president Bill Polian stated. Keith has not had prior run-ins with the law during his short time in the NFL.

Kenton Keith was arrested outside an Indianapolis nightclub early Sunday on several charges, including disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement.

Other charges were public intoxication and "contributing to the delinquincy of a minor." Police allegedly asked Keith to be quiet in a parking lot after the club closed. Keith responded that he "would not be quiet," that he played for the Colts, and that he'd leave "when he got ready." This may increase the odds of Indianapolis using an early pick on a running back.

The Colts' draft-day priorities include a backup running back who can be a tempo changer as well as a pass receiving force out of the backfield.

Though the team expects Kenton Keith to continue to improve, he struggled in pass protection and as a consistent check-down receiver. The Colts are not expected to take a RB high in the draft, but they will have their eyes open for one throughout.

Kenton Keith rushed four times for seven yards and caught two passes for 23 yards in a Divisional Round loss to the Chargers.

Keith has dropped passes all year, and it may have cost the Colts a playoff win today. A pass near the goal line bounced off his hands and was picked off. Keith was solid this year, but the Colts will probably bring in some competition for him in the offseason.

Kenton Keith ran for 60 yards on 10 carries and caught two passes for eight yards off the bench in Week 16.

It seemed as though the Colts came in with the intention of limiting Joseph Addai’s carries to some extent, and Keith saw increased action both before and after Addai was pulled on a "coaches’ decision." The Colts’ line got good push, opening big holes against Houston. Keith figures to play a very large role, and possibly even start, in Week 17 against Tennessee.

Kenton Keith (questionable, hand) practiced without limits Friday.

He'll likely be ready to back up Joseph Addai against the Raiders.

Kenton Keith (thumb) went through all phases of Colts practice Thursday.

Keith now seems likely to be available for backup duty against the Raiders and could get at least a few carries as Indy pounds it down Oakland's throat.

Kenton Keith (thumb) did not participate in practice Wednesday.

It's uncertain whether Keith will be available against Oakland. Joseph Addai would presumably see more carries if Keith is among the Colts' inactives.

Colts coach Tony Dungy said on Monday that Colts RB Kenton Keith (thumb), DE Robert Mathis (knees) and S Antoine Bethea (knee) will each undergo an MRI exam.

Keith re-sprained his thumb against the Ravens and sat out the second half. Clifton Dawson stepped in, but Keith remains the handcuff for Joseph Addai. The two defenders were both hurt in the first half and though Mathis did return, he is the one a little worse for wear according to Dungy.
