Vikings released DE Stylez G. White.
Whereas some teams are formally announcing cuts in bunches, most of the Vikings' moves are trickling out from beat reporters. White revealed his own release on Twitter. Signed just two weeks ago, White must not have shown anything in practice. The team was hoping he'd fill a need as a nickel rusher. Fri, Sep 2, 2011 07:52:00 PM

Vikings agreed to terms with DE Stylez G. White on a one-year contract.

White is 32, but can still bring it on passing downs and projects as a possible nickel rusher in Minnesota. He'll compete for that role with Everson Griffen. White previously played for the Bucs, racking up 24 sacks over the past four seasons. Tampa and Minnesota's defenses are similar (base Cover 2), so White shouldn't take long to be incorporated as long as he's in shape.

The Bucs will only look to re-sign free agent Stylez G. White if free agent Tim Crowder walks, according to Pro Football Weekly.

White is entering his age-32 season and landed in coach Raheem Morris' doghouse at the end of last year. Considering the Bucs used their first two picks on defensive ends (Adrian Clayborn, Da'Quan Bowers), White is likely a goner. Even if he sticks, he'll be a rotational player at best.

The Bucs are expected to "look to the draft" to replace RE Stylez G. White, an impending free agent.

White was benched late in the year for former undrafted free agent Michael Bennett, and found himself in Raheem Morris' doghouse for not wanting to practice. Turning 32 in 2011, White's best seasons as a pass rusher are probably behind him anyway. The Bucs have the 20th pick in April's draft.

Bucs RE Stylez G. White has once again drawn the ire of coach Raheem Morris for his practice habits.

His aversion to practice has finally cost White his starting job, as Michael Bennett started in his place Sunday. "The level of competition around here, I try to keep it high and try to keep it hot," Morris said. "Thursday practices determine a lot. … So I think when those guys come out and practice the way they practice and play the way they play, you always let the competition keep flowing." White hasn't had a sack in five weeks and has just 4.5 on the year.

Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris referred to veteran RE Stylez G. White as "Allen Iverson."

Morris is referencing Iverson's aversion to practice, as White has a tendency to show up only in games. The team is stuck with White until they can find a better replacement, though he's in a contract year and should put up solid numbers with Gerald McCoy and Brian Price joining the defensive line.

Bucs RE Stylez G. White is shooting for double-digit sacks this season.

It would be quite a feat for a guy that's been cut by six teams and whose career high of 8.0 sacks came in 2007. However, the Bucs didn't address the defensive end position in the offseason, so White will certainly get the opportunity. "With the pressure we're putting on him, he's going to have to be a darn good pass rusher," defensive line coach Todd Wash said.

Bucs RE Stylez G. White reported to spring workouts in the "best condition of his life" after trimming some weight this offseason.

White, entering his age-31 season, is in a contract year. He'll be an every-down end this season, and a sleeper to break out with a little extra motivation and the additions of Gerald McCoy and Brian Price inside. White has 20 sacks over the last three seasons. He had a career-high 42 tackles in '09.

Bucs RE Stylez G. White injured his hand during Sunday's loss to the Falcons and his status for Week 13 is unknown.

White had 2 1/2 sacks on the day before the injury. X-rays didn't appear to reveal any broken bones and he'll be re-evaluated Monday.

Bucs RE Stylez G. White (shoulder) said he expects to practice this week and play against the Saints in Week 11.

The Bucs missed White against the Dolphins as they picked up zero sacks in the Week 10 loss. White had stepped nicely in for Gaines Adams, who was traded to the Bears earlier this season.

Bucs RE Stylez G. White (doubtful, shoulder) did not make the trip to Miami and will not play on Sunday.

The Bucs lack quality depth behind Stylez G., as third-year man Tim Crowder will likely start in his place. White had at least a half of a sack in each of the last three games, so it's a big blow to the Bucs' defense.

Bucs RE Stylez G. White (shoulder) is listed as doubtful for Week 10.

It's a big blow to Tampa Bay's pass rush. White, who took over as the Bucs' weak-side end after Gaines Adams was sent to Chicago, had at least a half sack in each of the last three games. The Bucs lack quality depth behind him.

Bucs DE Stylez G. White was recently called out by coach Raheem Morris for not taking his craft seriously enough.

White missed two weeks of practices after suffering minor injuries in an early June motorcycling accident. The Bucs recently named Jimmy Wilkerson the starter opposite Gaines Adams, which means White is slated for nickel rushing duties again.

Bucs DE Greg White was involved in a motorcycle accident Tuesday night but suffered only minor injuries, according to the National Football Post.

"Stylez G." was driving in Tampa when a cab allegedly cut him off, causing him to abandon the bike to avoid a collision. He suffered only "road burns" and is doing "fine." White returns as the Bucs' primary nickel rusher.

The Bucs have begun using Greg "Stylez G." White at left defensive end this offseason.

White, a pure pass rusher, is rotating with Jimmy Wilkerson. White didn't hold up on the left side last year and probably isn't a solution. The Bucs figure to address this position in the draft, or re-sign incumbent Kevin Carter.
