Akeem Jordan started alongside ILB Derrick Johnson in Chiefs OTAs Tuesday after running with the first-team defense in voluntary workouts.
He's the mediocre linebacker coach Andy Reid just can't quit. "The thing you get with Akeem is he’s a smart football player," Reid said. "He hasn’t played in the 3-4, but he gives you the trust that he can do that. He doesn’t make a lot of mistakes." Best suited for a reserve/special teams role, Jordan is supposedly competing with fourth-rounder Nico Johnson and Zac Diles, but the job is his to lose. May 14 - 8:07 PM

Akeem Jordan lined up as a starting inside linebacker during Tuesday's minicamp session.

Coach Andy Reid often overrated Jordan's ability in Philadelphia, and it appears he's ready to do the same in Kansas City. The 6'1/230 former undrafted free agent is a little undersized to play inside next to Derrick Johnson and is best served as a situational role player. Zac Diles and Cory Greenwood should also get a chance to run with the starters.

Chiefs signed LB Akeem Jordan, formerly of the Eagles, to a one-year contract.

Jordan visited the Bengals this week and was reportedly drawing interest from "multiple teams." An undrafted free agent in 2007, Jordan has started 27 games over the last four seasons with the Eagles, but will serve as strictly depth in Kansas City's 3-4 defense, where he'll reunite with former coach Andy Reid.

The Eagles have made free agent LB Akeem Jordan an offer to return.

Jordan is currently visiting the Bengals, and reportedly drawing interest from "multiple teams." The Eagles were expected to let Jordan go, but they never made their intentions publicly known. Jordan had yet to make a visit before the Bengals called. He'd be returning as depth in Philly.

Free agent LB Akeem Jordan is visiting the Bengals Tuesday.

It's the first known interest Jordan has attracted on the open market. The former undrafted free agent was often overused by the Eagles, as he started 27 games over the last four seasons. Ideally, the undersized Jordan is depth at outside linebacker in a 4-3 scheme and a core special teamer.

The Philadelphia Inquirer expects the Eagles to move on from free agent LB Akeem Jordan.

Jordan has been a valuable role player for the Eagles since 2007, but has never emerged as a full-time starter, and will turn 27 in August. Jordan shouldn't attract interest as a starter on the open market.

Eagles WLB Akeem Jordan (hamstring) will return to the starting lineup in Week 6.

Jordan is ready to return after two weeks off. Sluggish thumper Jamar Chaney heads back to the bench.

Akeem Jordan (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Steelers.

Jordan hasn't returned to practice and won't play for the second straight week. Jamar Chaney will start in his place at weakside linebacker.

Akeem Jordan has unseated Brian Rolle as the Eagles' starting weak-side linebacker.

Rookie Mychal Kendricks will start on the strong side and DeMeco Ryans will work the middle. Rolle struggled throughout the preseason and will join Jamar Chaney as the team's primary backup linebackers. On the roster bubble earlier this offseason, 28-year-old Jordan is not a long-term solution.

The Philadelphia Inquirer believes Eagles LBs Akeem Jordan and Moise Fokou "may face an uphill battle for roster spots."

Both Jordan and Fokou made seven starts in 2011, but could be the odd-men-out after Philly traded for DeMeco Ryans and spent a second-round pick on Mychal Kendricks. Jordan was the more productive player last season, and with two more years of experience in the Eagles' system, should have a leg up on Fokou if it becomes an "either/or" proposition.

Eagles WLB Akeem Jordan was forced from Sunday's game against the Cowboys with a concussion.

The reserve linebacker and special teamer had one tackle before going down. He'll likely be questionable at best for Week 9, and should be considered week-to-week.

Reserve Eagles WLB Akeem Jordan's right shoulder injury has been diagnosed as a "slight" labrum tear.

He'll reportedly "struggle to practice" this week, so his odds of being active in Week 2 against the Falcons are not looking good. Jordan's absence would presumably lead to more snaps for Keenan Clayton behind starter Moise Fokou.

Eagles WLB Akeem Jordan was forced from Sunday's opener against the Rams with a right shoulder injury.

The reserve linebacker is doubtful to return. His absence should mean more snaps for starting WLB Moise Fokou in sub-packages.

Eagles signed LB Akeem Jordan to a two-year contract.

Jordan was originally signed to a one-year deal following the lockout. It's likely that the new deal is for salary cap purposes.

Eagles re-signed LB Akeem Jordan to a one-year contract.

Limited to a reserve role in 2010, Jordan tallied just 26 tackles in 16 games. He could beat out Keenan Clayton for the Eagles' starting weak-side linebacker gig this season, but it's unlikely he'll make much of an IDP dent.
