Gary Gibson and Roy Miller are expected to be the leading candidates to fill in as the Bucs' starting nose tackle this season.
In terms of run defense, it's safe to say this won't end well for a team that ranked 32nd against the run last year. The Bucs might have had a prayer of avoiding the league's run-defense basement had Brian Price turned himself around, but they didn't bother seeing it through, shipping him to Chicago for a late-round pick. Tampa will be a juicy matchup for fantasy running backs again in 2012. Fri, Jul 27, 2012 03:08:00 PM

Bucs signed DT Gary Gibson to a two-year, $2 million contract.

Gibson played just over a third of the defensive snaps in St. Louis last year after starting in 2010. As a former Rutgers star, he has connections to the new Bucs staff. Expect him to play a rotational role on Greg Schiano's defensive line.

Rams re-signed DT Gary Gibson to a one-year contract.

Gibson started next to Fred Robbins last season, but was one of St. Louis' least effective regulars. They've upgraded with Justin Bannan and Daniel Muir. Gibson will battle Darell Scott and Jermelle Cudjo for a roster spot.

Rams tendered DT Gary Gibson as a restricted free agent.

He got the "original pick" tender. The Rams are high on Gibson, but this tag indicates they wouldn't be too concerned about losing him. Regardless, the four-year veteran is likely to be an unrestricted free agent with a new CBA.

The Rams are trying to re-sign free agent DT Gary Gibson prior to the usual start of the new NFL league year.

The "deadline," as VP of football operations Kevin Demoff called it, is March 4. Gibson was a solid run defender after beating out Cliff Ryan last year, but offers little pass rush. The Rams should make sure to not overpay.

Rams DT Gary Gibson has been promoted to the first team ahead of Clifton Ryan.

It's a sign of how poor the Rams' front seven is. Gibson is a smallish 28-year-old that is coming off an ankle fracture.

Rams re-signed DT Gary Gibson to a one-year contract.

Gibson, 28, was initially not extended a restricted free agent qualifying offer. Though undersized, Gibson was fairly effective in limited duty before his October ankle fracture last year. He'll have to earn a roster spot.

The Rams declined tender offers to DT Gary Gibson and TE Daniel Fells, making them unrestricted free agents.

Gibson drew positive reviews in 2009 camp and early last year, but landed on I.R. in October with a serious broken ankle/foot. Fells was more effective than Randy McMichael last season, saying plenty about what McMike has left.

Rams placed DT Gary Gibson on injured reserve with a broken ankle/foot, ending his season.

St. Louis will likely now see what third-round rookie Dorell Scott can do as a starter. Gibson finishes with 11 tackles and zero sacks in five starts.

Rams DT Gary Gibson suffered a broken bone in his foot/ankle Sunday and will require surgery.

He's done for the season. Gibson, who would be a practice squad body on most teams, had been starting for the hapless 0-5 Rams.

Gary Gibson departed Sunday's game against the Vikings with a left ankle injury and is questionable to return.

Gibson has seen a rise in playing time this season with Adam Carriker sidelined, but hasn't made a huge impact. He has 7 tackles through five weeks.

With Adam Carriker (ankle) out two weeks, Gary Gibson moved up to the No. 1 unit.

Gibson is a four-year vet with a big body. He's clearly Carriker's backup, but won't have much of an impact.

Rams signed DT Gary Gibson, formerly of the Panthers.

Panthers beat writers were impressed by Gibson last summer, but he made little impact in 11 games and the team neglected to tender him an offer as a restricted free agent.

The Panthers did not extend a tender offer to restricted free agent DT Gary Gibson, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Gibson could still be back at less than the $1.01 million low tender. The former undrafted free agent posted nine tackles in 11 appearances last year.

Panthers placed DT Gary Gibson (hand) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Gibson has been a rotational lineman, but his impact had grown with Maake Kemoeatu suffering a sprained ankle in Week 15 and Damione Lewis (shoulder) sidelined in the fourth quarter of Week 16. Carolina allowed 301 rushing yards to the Giants, and that problem doesn't figure to go away any time soon. Look for Pierre Thomas to again be productive in the regular season finale.
