Former NFL journeyman QB Tim Rattay will be playing for Las Vegas of the UFL this season.
The sad part is Rattay signed on to hold a UFL clipboard as J.P. Losman's backup. Or maybe he knows something we don't about an NFL team wanting to give Losman a shot. Either way, it's strange that two of the better quarterbacks in the UFL are on the same team. Sat, Jul 25, 2009 08:39:00 AM

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Tim Rattay and Chris Simms were sent back to the airport after arriving at the Patriots' facility Monday.

GM Scott Pioli reportedly told the free agents that "sorry, circumstances have changed," and they were no longer wanted. Mort suggests that Randy Moss could push for New England to sign Daunte Culpepper, who retired last week. Another option would be to adding Matt Gutierrez off the practice squad.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that free agent Tim Rattay will join Chris Simms in working out for the Patriots on Monday.

Like Simms, Rattay comes from a mostly West Coast offense background and would probably take awhile to get up to speed in New England. He might be less of a threat to start games during the season than Simms.

Tim Rattay completed his only pass attempt for a touchdown in Week 7.

Rattay came in for one play near the goal line. He returns to his backup role behind Kurt Warner.

Tim Rattay is expected to be the Cardinals' starting quarterback Sunday.

Kurt Warner may be active, but only available to run the two-minute offense. Warner is unable to make handoffs to his right due to ligament pain in his non-throwing elbow. Arizona could focus on the run Sunday.

Despite Kurt Warner (elbow) going through limited drills the last two days, the Arizona Republic still believes Tim Rattay will start Sunday.

Beat writer Kurt Somers says the Cards will likely decide whether to use Warner at all after practice Friday. Warner might see action when the Cards go into their two-minute drill, but isn't in good enough shape to hand off.

Tim Rattay completed 12-of-24 passes for 159 yards, zero touchdowns, and three interceptions in a Week 6 loss to Carolina.

Kurt Warner's elbow makes his status uncertain for Week 7, but Rattay clearly won't be an option until he gets more time in the Arizona system. Look for either quarterback to struggle in Week 7 against Washington.

NFL Network reports that the Cardinals have signed QB Tim Rattay.

He will be Kurt Warner's backup for the rest of the season. Rattay has always performed serviceably when given a chance in San Francisco and Tampa. But he doesn't have much experience in a vertical offense like Ken Whisenhunt's and Arizona can only hope they keep Kurt Warner healthy.

Free agent QB Tim Rattay worked out for the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Rattay, who was with the Titans in training camp, threw to receivers for about 15 minutes in front of the Cards brass. Vinny Testaverde may also work out for the Cardinals, who are looking for depth behind Kurt Warner following the Week 5 injury to Matt Leinart.

Both the Cardinals' team website and the Arizona Republic are reporting that the team may have interest in signing free agent QB Tim Rattay.

Rattay, who couldn't make the Titans out of training camp, would add a veteran presence behind Kurt Warner with Matt Leinart (broken collarbone) out indefinitely. The Cards may place Leinart on I.R. to create roster room.

The Falcons had free agent quarterbacks Tim Rattay and Tim Hasselbeck in for tryouts this week.

Atlanta is said to be looking for a backup to replace Chris Redman.

Titans released QB Tim Rattay, S Bryon Scott, OL Justin Geisinger, LBs Spencer Toone and Colin Allred and DT Lauvale Sape.

Kerry Collins held off Rattay for the backup job. Atlanta could do worse than signing Rattay to backup Joey Harrington.

Titans signed QB Tim Rattay to an undisclosed contract.

Rattay is expected to "compete for a spot on our roster and give us the option of keeping three QBs," according to the Titans' press release. It doesn't sound like he'll be pushing Kerry Collins to be Vince Young's top backup despite Collins' unquestionably awful early-season play in 2006.

Tim Rattay's agent has spoken to the Raiders, but no visit is scheduled.

Rattay has received surprisingly little interest as a free agent. He'll probably find a job after the draft.

Free agent Tim Rattay made an official visit to the Bengals Tuesday.

The Raiders are also said to have interest. Rattay would likely push Doug Johnson to back up Carson Palmer if he signs with the Bengals.
