Bears signed LB Blake Costanzo, formerly of the 49ers, to a two-year, $2 million contract.

The deal includes a $400,000 signing bonus. A special teams ace, Costanzo helped anchor one of the league's most dominant units in 2011. He should fit right in with Bears special teams coordinator Dave Toub. Costanzo has never had a meaningful role on defense since entering the league in 2007, and that's unlikely to change next season.

CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reports free agent LB Blake Costanzo "will not be back with the 49ers."

A special teams ace, Costanzo has reportedly already drawn two offers. He's made just 55 tackles in 61 career games, however, and is unlikely to land major defensive snaps wherever he ends up.

The player rep for free agent LB Blake Costanzo says he had a "positive dialogue" with the 49ers, but there have been "no contract negotiations whatsoever."

"Blake would love a chance to go back and play for San Francisco," agent David Canter said. A favorite of special teams coordinator Brad Seely, Costanzo ranked second with 17 tackles on one of the most dominant special-teams units of the past decade.

49ers signed LB Blake Costanzo to a one-year contract.

New special teams coordinator Brad Seely had Costanzo as one of his star pupils in Cleveland last year. The 27-year-old won't play much on defense, so he'll be in the same role in San Francisco.

Costanzo, a key special teamer, sustained the injury in Week 11. He's a restricted free agent in 2011.

Bills have added LB Blake Costanzo to the 53-man roster to replace Angelo Crowell (knee surgery).

Costanzo had a problem with the Bills roster shrinkage last weekend, but he's back, Baby! The former practice squadder has received high marks for his special teams play.
