Eagles FS Kenny Phillips (knee) is a full participant in minicamp.
Phillips missed a good chunk of OTAs, but is now back to participating in team drills. Provided he avoids a setback — which is not a given — he'll be 100 percent for training camp, where he'll have to hold off Nate Allen for a starting job. Jun 4 - 1:49 PM

Eagles FS Kenny Phillips (knee) is expected to resume practice at the team's minicamp in June.

Annually injury prone, Phillips has been sitting out of OTAs as a precaution. He's battled lingering knee issues since entering the league. Phillips is not assured of a starting role as he competes with incumbent FS Nate Allen.
May 30 - 4:26 PM

Eagles FS Kenny Phillips says his Tuesday absence from practice was precautionary and "nothing serious."

Phillips is taking it easy on his left knee, which underwent microfracture surgery in 2009. Phillips' litany of knee injuries since entering the league remains concerning, both for his short- and long-term outlooks.
May 28 - 4:59 PM

Eagles FS Kenny Phillips missed Tuesday's OTA practice with an undisclosed injury to his surgically repaired knee.

Coach Chip Kelly wouldn't go into detail, only saying Phillips was "out with (a) knee injury." It's possible he suffered a setback, but until the Eagles elaborate we're inclined to believe it's due to general soreness. Phillips has battled knee injuries since entering the league.
May 28 - 2:00 PM

Eagles agreed to terms with FS Kenny Phillips, formerly of the Giants, on a one-year contract.

Phillips stays in the division on a one-year deal as he tries to rehab value after battling knee issues for the past few seasons. A fine cover safety, the Eagles will pair Phillips with fellow new acquisition SS Pat Chung on their back end. There were whispers the Giants were thinking about franchise tagging Phillips last week.
Mar 14 - 4:12 PM

Free agent FS Kenny Phillips will test the open market.

The Giants and Phillips talked about a new contract last week, but the money "wasn't nearly enough" and his chances of re-signing before March 12 "appear gone." Phillips' preference is to re-sign with the Giants. Once he hits the market, Phillips' chances of being back with New York take a major hit.
Mar 7 - 1:21 PM

The Giants are "continuing to see" if they can work out a new contract with free agent FS Kenny Phillips.

Per reporter Jason La Canfora, Phillips is unlikely to be franchise tagged ahead of Monday's deadline. With Antrel Rolle and Stevie Brown to fall back on at safety, the Giants will likely only bring Phillips back at their price.
Mar 1 - 1:44 PM

The Charlotte Observer mentions impending free agent FS Kenny Phillips as an option for the Panthers.

Phillips almost certainly won't be back with the Giants, who appear set at safety with Antrel Rolle and Stevie Brown. New Panthers GM Dave Gettleman also knows Phillips from his days with the Giants. Phillips has battled knee issues since entering the NFL, but he would be quite an upgrade on Haruki Nakamura.
Feb 10 - 12:18 PM

Giants FS Kenny Phillips (knee) is "100 percent confident" he will return to game action versus the Ravens in Week 16.

He's missed the past two games after aggravating the strained MCL that sidelined him six straight games earlier in the season. The Giants could be facing elimination if they lose to the Ravens this week.

Giants FS Kenny Phillips (knee) is officially listed as doubtful for Monday night versus the Redskins.

Phillips did not participate in practice on Saturday and has been battling knee issues all season. He suffered a setback last week but was still expected to give it a go in Week 13. Stevie Brown and Antrel Rolle will continue to handle safety duties.

Giants FS Kenny Phillips believes his knee has been so problematic this season because his rehab was done improperly.

Keep in mind Phillips is in a contract year. His comments suggest he won't be re-signing with the G-Men in 2013. "When we started our rehab we didn’t go about it the right way, and now here we are, we’re dealing with it right now," Phillips said. "I don’t want to get into (specifics). It just didn’t work out the way we wanted it to." Phillips has played in 5-of-11 games this year.

Giants FS Kenny Phillips' right knee injury is an aggravation of his previous MCL issue.

Coach Tom Coughlin "doesn't know what to expect." Phillips was making his first appearance since Week 3 on Sunday. It's doubtful Phillips is ready for Week 13. Tyler Sash and Stevie Brown should rotate snaps opposite Antrel Rolle.
Mon, Nov 26, 2012 04:03:00 PM

Giants FS Kenny Phillips was forced from New York's Week 12 game against the Packers with a right knee injury, and will not return.

It's the same knee that held Phillips out between Weeks 4-10. Phillips was able to walk off under his own power, but he'll likely be questionable at best for Week 13. Tyler Sash has come on at free safety.

Giants FS Kenny Phillips (knee) appears to be on track to play in Week 12, but coach Tom Coughlin has been noncommittal on how he plans to use his safeties.

Stevie Brown has played well with Phillips sidelined for the last six games, so there's been speculation that the Giants could deploy a big nickel with three safeties on the field. "Well, there’s a possibility of [using three safeties] always, but until we know exactly how this is going to come about, you’ve got to protect yourself," said Coughlin. IDP owners who've relied on Brown need proceed with caution until we get more clarity on the Giants secondary.

Giants SS Kenny Phillips (knee) still doesn't "feel 100 percent" but thinks he's "good enough to play" against the Packers in Week 12.

Phillips was officially limited in practice on Wednesday, but he insists it was full participation. He hasn't played since Week 4, and Stevie Brown has been getting the starts at strong safety. Phillips says the Giants have been leaving the decision whether to play or not "in my hands." It's no guarantee that Phillips will be a starter upon his return.
