Jets ILB Erin Henderson has a "firm grasp" on the starting job.

Henderson was solid in a situational role last year, grading as PFF’s No. 14 inside linebacker. He’s expected to open the year as the starter opposite David Harris. Rookie Darron Lee should replace Henderson in sub packages.

Jets re-signed ILB Erin Henderson to a two-year, $3.1 million contract.

Henderson also drew some interest from Oakland but ultimately chose to stay in East Rutherford. He can earn up to $5 million with incentives. Henderson made the most of his 232 snaps last season, recording 39 tackles while earning PFF's 14th-highest inside linebacker grade. He turns 30 in July.

The San Francisco Chronicle's Vic Tafur reports the Raiders are interested in free agent ILB Erin Henderson.

The Jets also want to re-sign Henderson. Henderson was out of the league in 2014 but rejuvenated his career with the Jets this past year, grading out as PFF's No. 14 inside linebacker despite playing just 232 snaps. He was top-nine against the run after displacing Demario Davis in sub-packages the final month-plus of the season. He'd likely play the MIKE spot in Oakland.

NJ Advance Media reports the Jets have opened contract negotiations with impending free agent ILB Erin Henderson.

Henderson was out of the league in 2014 after being popped twice for drunk driving in two months. The linebacker got his life back together and played well on a one-year deal with the Jets last season. With Henderson looking likely to return, fellow free agent ILB Demario Davis has likely played his last snap in New York.

Jets agreed to terms with LB Erin Henderson, formerly of the Vikings, on a one-year contract.

Going on 29, Henderson was cut by the Vikings last offseason after getting arrested for drunk driving twice in two months. He spent 2014 out of the league, but has apparently gotten his life together. Along with Jamari Lattimore, Henderson will provide depth behind Demario Davis and David Harris.

Free agent LB Erin Henderson will visit the Jets.

He left San Francisco without signing a contract. The Niners have since shifted their attention to Lance Briggs, who is visiting the team on Monday. Demario Davis and David Harris aren't in danger of losing their jobs, so adding Henderson would merely be a depth signing for the Jets. Teams have been hesitant to reach out to Henderson because of his two drunk driving arrests.

The 49ers have scheduled a visit with free agent LB Erin Henderson.

Henderson, who was out of the league last season following a drunk driving arrest, held a private workout on Sunday. Apparently the Niners liked what they saw as Henderson will visit the team on Wednesday. Henderson auditioned for Kansas City earlier this offseason but the Chiefs didn't bite. The 49ers are desperate for linebacker help after losing Chris Borland and Patrick Willis to unexpected retirements.

Free agent LB Erin Henderson worked out for the Chiefs last Friday.

Going on 29, Henderson was suspended the first four games of 2014 for violating the league's policy on substance abuse, and proceeded to go unsigned. Capable of playing both inside and out, Henderson should eventually get a second chance.

NFL suspended free agent LB Erin Henderson four games.

The ex-Viking has been popped for drunk driving twice in the past year. He claims he's sobered up. Cut by the Vikings in February, Henderson hasn't generated a lick of interest on the open market. Now 28, Henderson started 12 games last season.

Free agent LB Erin Henderson spent a month in rehab earlier this offseason.

Henderson was released by the Vikings after getting arrested for DUI twice in six weeks. He believes he turned a corner in rehab. "When I look back on it, I realize that's not living," Henderson said of his alcohol addiction. "That's not life. ... Life is not meant to just be coasted through." Although Henderson is far from out of the woods off the field, he should get another chance on it. Capable of playing both the middle and outside, Henderson turns 28 in July.

Vikings released LB Erin Henderson.

Henderson didn't have a bad 2013 season on the field, seeing action at both middle and strong-side linebacker, but has been arrested for DUI twice since November, and cutting him saves Minnesota $2.1 million in salary cap space. Look for Henderson to draw interest in free agency, perhaps from Tampa Bay. He's a scheme fit for Lovie Smith's defense and has lots of history with new Bucs defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. Henderson turns 28 in July.

Vikings MLB/WLB Erin Henderson was arrested on suspicion of DUI Wednesday.

It's Henderson's second arrest on DUI charges in the last two months. The first one got him benched to start a game, and former Vikings beat writer Tom Pelissero says the team is likely to release him this time. Henderson was a full-time player in the middle and on the weak side this season, compiling 112 tackles and four sacks in 14 games. He wasn't a sure bet to return in 2014 anyway as his $1.95 million contract only contained $250K guaranteed. The Vikes can dump Henderson after the Super Bowl.

Coach Leslie Frazier admitted Wednesday he never wanted Erin Henderson to be the Vikings' starting middle linebacker.

Henderson only got the job because the Vikings missed out on an early-round Mike 'backer in the draft, and Desmond Bishop flopped. "He was moved to the Mike linebacker position, not necessarily because that’s what we wanted to do," Frazier said of Henderson. "That was the plight that we were in." Henderson has now been "demoted" to the weak side, with Audie Cole taking over in the middle.
