Mario Manningham agreed to a pay cut to stay in San Francisco, slashing his base salary from $3.6 million to $1.8 million.
Manningham is coming off ACL and PCL reconstruction, so he had no leverage. The total pay cut is actually $2.15 million because Manningham agreed to eliminate a $250,000 offseason roster bonus in addition to a $100,000 workout bonus. Manningham suffered the injury in Week 16 and is not expected to be healthy for training camp. Anything the 49ers get from him in 2013 will be a bonus. Mar 14 - 6:15 PM

49ers coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed at the Combine that Mario Manningham (ACL, PCL surgery) will not be ready for training camp.

Manningham tore the multiple knee ligaments in Week 16, and we wouldn't be surprised if he opened the 2013 season on PUP. That's assuming he's not released with no guaranteed money left in his contract. The 49ers can't count on Mario making an impact during the upcoming season, and will work around him.

CSN Bay Area doesn't expect Mario Manningham (ACL, PCL surgery) to return before the "latter stages" of camp.

Even that might be bullish after Manningham went down in Week 16. Manningham is all but guaranteed to begin camp on active/PUP, and a definite candidate to spend the first six games of 2013 on reserve/PUP. Due roughly $4 million in salary and bonuses, it's not a given Manningham will be back in San Francisco at all.

49ers placed WR Mario Manningham on injured reserve with left ACL and PCL tears, ending his season.

Manningham will be questionable for 2013 training camp, and it's questionable whether he'll even make it that far as a 49er. His two-year contract signed in March was backloaded with non-guaranteed money, leaving the Niners on the hook for a $3.6 million base salary and $250,000 roster bonus. Manningham is also eligible for a $100,000 workout bonus based on offseason participation.

Mario Manningham tore the ACL and PCL in his left knee during Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Seahawks and is out for the season.

Manningham has been ruled out for the playoffs and his status for next year's training camp is in doubt. The 49ers are down to Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss, and A.J. Jenkins as their primary receivers. Manningham will finish his 2012 season with 42 receptions, 449 yards and one touchdown. He remains under contract through 2013, although his $3.6 million base salary is not guaranteed.

Mario Manningham will undergo an MRI on his left knee Monday.

X-rays came back negative for a fracture on Sunday, but that doesn't tell us much. We'd be much more concerned about a ligament tear. If Manningham is unavailable for the NFL playoffs, the 49ers will have to lean on Randy Moss and keep first-round pick A.J. Jenkins active on game days.

X-rays on Mario Manningham's left knee came back negative.

It's a tiny bit of good news, but only means he's avoided a fracture. An MRI will be necessary to determine ligament damage. Manningham left the locker room on crutches. It's extremely doubtful Manningham is back for Week 17, and quite possible his season is through. It would be terrible news for a 49ers team that's perilously thin at wideout. Manningham's status should be updated on Monday.

Mario Manningham was forced from San Francisco's Week 16 game against the Seahawks with a left knee injury, and will not return.

It didn't look good. Led a little bit too far into oncoming traffic by a late Colin Kaepernick throw, Manningham got his knee twisted as he attempted to make the catch. He was in so much pain he threw the ball away before the play was over for a fumble, a la Kenny Britt in 2011. Manningham had to be helped to the sideline, where he was promptly carted to the locker room. It had the looks of a season-ending injury. With first-round pick A.J. Jenkins a healthy scratch, the 49ers are down to just Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss and Ted Ginn at receiver. The catch he was injured on was Manningham's first of the night.

Mario Manningham (shoulder) is active for Week 16 against the Seahawks.

The 49ers' No. 2 receiver is returning from a two-game absence, sending rookie A.J. Jenkins back to the game-day inactives list. Although Manningham's return will be a nice boost for rookie QB Colin Kaepernick in hostile Seattle, he's not a viable WR4/5 for the fantasy finals. He is not among Rotoworld's top-65 receivers for Week 16.

Mario Manningham (shoulder) is officially questionable for Week 16 against the Seahawks.

Although Manningham got in a week of limited practices, the 49ers have shed little light on his status. It's possible he'll end up a game-time decision, which would make him a no-go as a WR4/5 in even exceptionally-deep leagues since the 49ers aren't playing until 8:25ET. Manningham is off the radar for fantasy championship week.

Mario Manningham (shoulder) was limited again in Thursday's practice.

Manningham hasn't played since Week 13, which has coincided with the best stretch of Michael Crabtree's career. Manningham's status remains up in the air for Sunday night's game at Seattle.

Mario Manningham (shoulder) was limited in practice on Wednesday.

Manningham has been dealing with the shoulder issue for the past month or so, and he hasn't played since the Week 13 loss to the Rams. Randy Moss has started the last two weeks opposite Michael Crabtree, but Manningham should be back for Sunday night's tilt in Seattle.

49ers declared WR Mario Manningham, LB Tavares Gooden, S Trenton Robinson, RB Jewel Hampton, G Joe Looney and NT Ian Williams inactive for Week 15 against the Patriots.

The absence is Manningham's second straight. A.J. Jenkins will again serve as the 49ers' No. 3 receiver. The first-round pick is still looking for his first career catch.

Mario Manningham (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday night's game against the Patriots.

Manningham was expected to play this week, but may have suffered a setback after missing practice on Friday. He won't even make to make the trip to New England and isn't guaranteed to return in Week 16. Ted Ginn and A.J. Jenkins will likely combine to replace Manningham as the 49ers' third receiver.
Sat, Dec 15, 2012 07:09:00 PM

Mario Manningham (shoulder) was downgraded to 'did not practice' on Friday and is listed as doubtful for Week 15.

He must have had a setback, because Manningham practiced early in the week -- albeit on a limited basis -- and beat writers indicated he would likely play at New England. The 49ers would probably be smart to turn to Vernon Davis for an increased role this week, instead of continuing to let him go to waste.
