Saints placed WR Adrian Arrington on injured reserve, ending his season.

Either Arrington tweaked his previous knee injury in Wednesday's practice, or the Saints re-signed him Tuesday with the express intent of stashing him on injured reserve. A former seventh-round pick with nine career catches, Arrington will compete for a roster spot next summer.

Saints signed WR Adrian Arrington.

Arrington was released just two days ago, but the Saints re-signed him on Monday so that they don't have to guarantee his 2012 salary. Arrington should step back into his No. 4 receiver role.

Saints released WR Adrian Arrington and placed OT Marcel Jones on injured reserve.

Arrington was dealing with a minor knee injury this week in practice and wasn't expected to play in Week 1. Jones, a seventh-round pick out of Nebraska, was also dealing with a knee injury. The moves open up a roster spot for defensive end Will Smith to return from suspension. Joe Morgan will be the No. 4 receiver on Sunday.

Saints WR Adrian Arrington (knee) missed practice Thursday.

Arrington experienced soreness in his surgically-repaired knee after fully practicing on Wednesday. The Saints will likely exercise caution, holding their fourth receiver out of the season opener.

Saints WR Adrian Arrington (knee) returned to practice Monday.

Arrington is roughly one month removed from meniscus surgery. He believes he'll be able to play in Week 1, but won't have a major role regardless. Joseph Morgan flashed in the preseason as the No. 4 wideout, posting 15 catches for 182 yards with two touchdowns in five games.

Adrian Arrington has made the 53-man roster.

There are some doubts as to Arrington's status after early-August knee surgery, but he's survived the cut and is expected to be ready for Week 1. He'll have some work to do to reclaim the No. 4 wideout spot.

Interim coach Joe Vitt still expects WR Adrian Arrington (knee surgery) to be ready for the season opener.

It's a bit of a surprise considering Arrington has yet to start running in the pool. The inference is that Vitt expects Arrington to make the final roster in a crowded wide receiver corps despite the injury.

Adrian Arrington (knee surgery) hasn't even started running in the pool yet.

Arrington is hoping to get in the pool next week and then return to practice two weeks after that. Even if he sticks by this optimistic timetable, he's going to miss at least Week 1. Joseph Morgan and Courtney Roby have been taking the No. 4 wideout reps with Arrington and Nick Toon (foot) sidelined.

Saints WR Adrian Arrington underwent knee surgery.

There's no timetable for his return. Arrington was pushing hard for No. 4 wideout duties with a strong camp, but those aspirations are scrapped now. Injured Nick Toon (foot), Joseph Morgan and Courtney Roby are candidates for the gig.

Saints WR Adrian Arrington is expected to require surgery "of some kind" on his troublesome knee.

Arrington missed New Orleans' first two exhibition games, and it sounds like he'll miss the final three as well after a visit to the office of Dr. James Andrews. No one has stepped up in the Saints' fourth receiver derby as of yet.

Saints WR Adrian Arrington will see Dr. James Andrews shortly for an evaluation of his knee injury.

It's reportedly a meniscus injury, and coach Joe Vitt says the Saints are trying to determine whether Arrington needs surgery. Surgery would likely cost Arrington the early part of the regular season -- assuming it's a scope -- and end his year in a worst-case scenario. This sounds like another tough break for an annual practice star with his best opportunity for playing time yet.

Updating a previous item, WR Adrian Arrington did not dress for the Saints' preseason opener due to a knee injury.

The Saints deemed Arrington's absence "precautionary," which may be the case with New Orleans scheduled to play five preseason games. Joseph Morgan, special teamer Courtney Roby, and UDFA Travaris Cadet picked up extra snaps.

Adrian Arrington was conspicuously absent from the Saints' preseason opener Sunday night.

He was nowhere to be found on the sideline. The Saints informed James Varney of the New Orleans Times-Picayune that Arrington's absence would be "addressed, post-game." It sounds like a potentially discipline-related situation.

Adrian Arrington has the early edge for the Saints' No. 4 receiver job.

Arrington has been "perhaps the biggest star of camp" so far, outshining rookie Nick Toon and second-year speedster Joe Morgan. The battle has a ways to go, but the winner will be a name to keep in mind for the regular season if Jimmy Graham, Marques Colston, Lance Moore, or Devery Henderson goes down.
