XTRA 910 Arizona's Mike Jurecki is "hearing" the Cardinals may be interested in free agent DT Sedrick Ellis.
Ellis hasn't generated any buzz on the open market, but the Cardinals are on the prowl for a defensive tackle. Ellis would be in line for only a small signing bonus, and wouldn't be guaranteed a roster spot in Arizona. The former No. 7 overall pick has just 0.5 sacks over his past 31 games. Apr 30 - 1:40 PM

Free agent DT Sedrick Ellis says he has been in contact with the Saints about re-signing.

Ellis, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2008 draft, has drawn zero known interest since free agency opened, but says he's spoke with multiple clubs. Billed as a solid pass rusher coming out of USC, Ellis has just 0.5 sacks over his last 31 games. He shouldn't get much more than the minimum.

The Saints haven't had any contract talks with free agent DT Sedrick Ellis.

Ellis hasn't lived up to his No. 7 overall draft pick status since being selected there in 2008. The one-dimensional pass-rushing Ellis has 12.5 career sacks. He checks in near the bottom of our free-agent defensive tackle rankings.

ESPN's Pat Yasinskas does not expect the Saints to bring back free agent DT Sedrick Ellis.

One of the biggest busts of the 2008 draft class, Ellis has managed just 0.5 sacks over his last 31 games. His fate was likely sealed even before the Saints made the move to a 3-4. Ellis will get another chance, likely on a "prove it" deal with a 4-3 team.

Saints DT Sedrick Ellis is not expected back with the team in 2013.

Ellis' rookie deal is up after the season, and he's never lived up to expectations inherent for a top-ten draft pick. Ellis was the seventh overall pick in 2008. Billed as a three-technique, pass-rusher coming out of USC, Ellis has 0.5 sacks in his last 24 games. He's also been only an above-average run defender.

Due more than $6 million between salary and bonuses, the New Orleans Times-Picayune believes Saints DT Sedrick Ellis is a candidate for release.

Going into the final year of his rookie deal, the former No. 7 pick notched just 29 tackles and 0.5 sacks last season despite playing 723 snaps. However, the Times-Picayune believes the Saints will likely give Ellis one more chance to prove himself under new DC Steve Spagnuolo. He could still be asked to take a pay-cut.

Saints DT Sedrick Ellis suffered a quad injury in the Week 11 win over the Seahawks.

Ellis wouldn't have practiced Monday had the team not been given a day off. With the short week, Ellis' status for Week 12 appears to be very much in question. It would be a big loss for the Saints, as the former first-round pick is playing the best ball of his career.

Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis believes third year DT Sedrick Ellis is finally playing like a top 10 pick.

Ellis finally seems to have figured out defensive coordinator Gregg Williams' scheme, and has turned himself into a valuable player for the defending champions. The former USC star is 100% healthy and is on pace for a 12 sack season.

Saints DT Sedrick Ellis' troublesome knee is expected to be near 100 percent for the postseason.

Ellis sprained his knee in early November and experienced lingering issues after returning late in the year. He sat out Week 17 because the Saints wanted him healthy for the playoffs. The centerpiece of New Orleans' boom-or-bust run defense, Ellis ended the regular season with 34 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

Saints declared DT Sedrick Ellis (knee) inactive for Saturday's game against the Cowboys.

It's a big blow to the Saints' run defense. Look for Marion Barber to have a little more success running up the gut. The Saints also declared TE Jeremy Shockey, K John Carney, DB Usama Young, DB Marcus McCauley, CB Jabari Greer, LB Anthony Waters, G Jamar Nesbit and TE Jeremy Shockey inactive. Garrett Hartley will kick.

Saints DT Sedrick Ellis is listed as questionable for Saturday night after developing a sore knee during practice this week.

He missed Friday's workout and appears very questionable to doubtful for Saturday night's game. Without Ellis for four games earlier this season, New Orleans was obliterated by the run. Give Marion Barber's fantasy matchup a major upgrade if Ellis is among the Saints' inactive players in Week 15.

Saints coach Sean Payton called reports of Sedrick Ellis missing 4-6 weeks with a knee sprain "inaccurate."

"I think it is going to be sooner than that, yet the key is making sure he is 100 percent," Payton said. The Saints sorely missed their run-stopper in Week 8, when Michael Turner gashed them for a season-high 151 yards. They'll have their hands full with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart his week.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Saints DT Sedrick Ellis' knee sprain will likely cost him 4-6 weeks.

We already knew Ellis was out indefinitely, but Schefter has a timetable. New Orleans' best all-around interior lineman, Ellis' loss is a big blow to a run defense that ranked in the top six during the season's first half. His backup, converted end Anthony Hargrove, is 35 pounds lighter. The Saints need NTs Kendrick Clancy and Remi Ayodele to step up their performance.

Saints coach Sean Payton revealed that DT Sedrick Ellis' knee injury is a sprain similar to the ones sustained by Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell earlier in the season.

Ellis won't be a candidate for injured reserve, but he could miss 3-4 weeks with the injury. Though Anthony Hargrove is Ellis' equal as a pass rusher, the run defense will likely suffer as a result.

It appears likely that Sedrick Ellis (knee) will miss Monday night's game against the Falcons.

Ellis suffered a right knee injury in the win over the Dolphins. Losing Ellis is a blow to the Saints, but it will open up more playing time for talented DT Anthony Hargrove, who had two sacks after Ellis was injured Sunday. Kendrick Clancy (knee) is also expected to be back for this week.
