Browns hired Kevin O'Connell as QBs coach.
A former Patriots third-round pick, O'Connell bounced around the NFL as a backup quarterback from 2008-12. He doesn't have any coaching experience, but worked extensively with Johnny Manziel prior to the 2014 draft. The Browns have also hired ex-Florida OC Kurt Roper as a senior offensive assistant. Free agent QB Kevin O'Connell visited the Jets.

Coach Rex Ryan hinted a signing could be near, but O'Connell remains a free agent as of Wednesday evening. O'Connell spent 2011 on the Jets' active roster, but hasn't appeared in a game since 2008.

Chargers released QB Kevin O'Connell.

O'Connell was no longer needed with Charlie Whitehurst (knee) cleared to practice. UDFA Jarrett Lee will handle third-string duties.

Chargers agreed to terms with QB Kevin O'Connell, formerly of the Jets.

Along with undrafted rookie Jarrett Lee, 27-year-old O'Connell will fill in behind Philip Rivers until Charlie Whitehurst's left knee injury heals. O'Connell was a third-round pick in 2008, but he's just a camp arm in San Diego.

The Chargers have scheduled a physical for free agent QB Kevin O'Connell.

A local kid who played collegiately at San Diego State, O'Connell would replace Kyle Boller as the Chargers' camp arm while Charlie Whitehurst's left knee heals up. O'Connell was a third-round bust of the Patriots in the 2008 draft.

The Seahawks worked out free agent QB Kevin O'Connell on Wednesday.

This was in addition to their tryout with FB Jacob Hester. O'Connell, 27, has struggled just to hang onto third-string jobs around the league. He might be brought in as a camp arm, but isn't going to unseat Josh Portis.

Jets declared QB Kevin O'Connell, RB Bilal Powell, WR Logan Payne, S Andrew Sendejo, G Caleb Schlauderaff, OT Robert Turner and NT Kenrick Ellis for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

Aside from Ellis, there are no surprises for a Jets team entering Week 1 as one of the healthiest clubs in the league. Ellis, a third-round pick, is not injured, and could be in line to make his debut in Week 2 against a less imposing Jaguars offense.

Jets claimed QB Kevin O'Connell off waivers from the Dolphins.

Rookie Greg McElroy (thumb) will likely be placed on injured reserve, leaving O'Connell as the No. 3 QB. The Jets chose O'Connell over a more expensive Kellen Clemens. Both QBs know OC Brian Schottenheimer's playbook.

Dolphins waived QB Kevin O'Connell.

The former Patriots third-rounder never got much of a chance to make the team, attempting just one pass in preseason action. Undrafted rookie Pat Devlin appears to have won out as the No. 3 QB in Miami.

Dolphins signed QB Kevin O'Connell to a one-year contract.

The best news is that O'Connell was able to pass a physical after missing all of last season with a torn labrum in his right (throwing) shoulder. The 94th overall pick in the 2008 draft, O'Connell was clearly one of Bill Belichick's misses. He projects as no more than a bottom-barrel third-stringer in Miami.

Jets released QB Kevin O'Connell.

The Jets are trimming fat in order to stay above ground in the Nnamdi Asomugha sweepstakes. Mark Brunell will be re-signed at a cheaper rate to be Mark Sanchez's backup and Greg McElroy will be the No. 3 quarterback.

Jets re-signed QB Kevin O'Connell to a two-year contract.

O'Connell was diagnosed with a torn labrum in his right (throwing) arm after being waived at the end of August, so the Jets have re-signed him and will place him on injured reserve. The hope is that O'Connell will show more in 2011 when he's healthy. He could perhaps be their long-term No. 3.

Free agent Kevin O'Connell found out after being waived by the Jets that he has a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder.

The injury will require surgery and knock O'Connell out of consideration for teams this season. The 94th pick in the 2008 draft, O'Connell was acquired by the Jets in September of 2009 as a possible long-term backup. He showed poorly in 2010 camp, which may be partially attributable to the injury.

Jets waived QB Kevin O'Connell.

O'Connell was Jets' the fourth quarterback all last season, and he failed to move past Kellen Clemens and Erik Ainge in spring and summer practices. Barring a trade or release, the Jets will pay Clemens over $1 million to be the third quarterback.

Kevin O'Connell and Erik Ainge are in an "open competition" for the Jets' No. 3 QB job.

O'Connell, who was the fourth quarterback all last season, has been working ahead of Ainge in recent practices. The team may not have the luxury for carrying four quarterbacks for a second straight season.
