Broncos coach John Fox believes new CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie still has the ability to be a No. 1 corner.
"There's no doubt," Fox said. "I don't think there would be many arguments of the people in free agency that he had the highest skill set. ... The ability is there and now it's about developing the skills that it takes to win in this league." Per reporter Jeff Legwold, "some in the league" believe it's "no accident" DRC's two best seasons came with the contending Cardinals in 2008-09. The Broncos are clearly banking on a competitive team and veteran locker room being what it takes to turn around DRC's frustrating career. Mar 22 - 9:22 AM

Broncos agreed to terms with CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on a one-year, $5 million contract.

27 in April, chronic underachiever Rodgers-Cromartie finished 2012 with 51 tackles and three interceptions as a 16-game starter in Philly. He broke up 17 passes to lead the team. "DRC" possesses legit No. 1 cornerback talent, so perhaps he'll learn a thing or two from Champ Bailey. This looks like a boom-or-bust signing. If Rodgers-Cromartie is willing to buy in and play with more physicality, he'll be a sizable upgrade on 2012 Bailey bookends Tracy Porter and Tony Carter. Chris Harris will remain the slot corner and nickel back.

Free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is scheduling a visit with the Broncos.

The interest here appears mutual. Rodgers-Cromartie could potentially be a steal for John Elway and the Broncos as he's just a couple years removed from having the look of a No. 1 corner.

According to the Denver Post, the Broncos have interest in free agent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

The Broncos can clear a ton of cap space by cutting Elvis Dumervil. To this point, Rodgers-Cromartie's market has not been especially hot. The Denver Post also mentions free agent DT Terrance Knighton as being on John Elway's radar.

The Eagles are not expected to re-sign free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Following an embarrassing season that saw him grade out as one of the league's worst starting corners, Rodgers-Cromartie has generated little buzz. However, he's just 26 years old and has a unique blend of size and speed. A change of scenery could serve DRC well. With Nnamdi Asomugha's release coming at some point this week, the Eagles are in the market for two new starting corners.

The Philadelphia Inquirer confirms the Eagles have no plans to use the franchise tag, specifically on free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

It greatly increases the odds that DRC will be playing elsewhere next season, as his combination of size, speed, athleticism and age (27 in April) should make him a hot commodity on the open market despite his inconsistent play. The Eagles could be planning to rebuild their broken secondary from the ground up.

CSN Philly reports the Eagles have no plans to use the franchise tag.

The Eagles' only real candidate is CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who comes with too many question marks to guarantee the $10.7 million he'd earn under the tag. The Sideline View's Adam Caplan "would be surprised" if DRC is back with the Eagles, while the Philadelphia Inquirer has hinted he'll move on.

ESPN Boston says free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is one name the Patriots might consider should Aqib Talib "get too expensive."

Beat writer Mike Reiss "thinks" the Patriots have "always thought highly of" DRC, and he's one name that could be at the "top of the list." The Philadelphia Inquirer expects Rodgers-Cromartie to command "big money" on the open market, while the Sideline View's Adam Caplan doesn't expect to see DRC back with the Eagles. Turning 27 in April, DRC checks in as our No. 7 free-agent corner in a stocked defensive backs class.

The Philadelphia Inquirer says new DC Billy Davis "didn't sound all that excited" about free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Perhaps Davis has already spoken to GM Howie Roseman and coach Chip Kelly about not making an effort to re-sign Rodgers-Cromartie. Although DRC has plenty of upside as a ball-hawker, he doesn't fit the tough, physical mentality the new Eagles' regime wants. Davis should know as he coached Rodgers-Cromartie during his rookie year in Arizona. He's our No. 7 cornerback available on the free-agent market.

The Philadelphia Inquirer expects free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to command "big money," and considers him a candidate for the franchise tag.

Long and lean at 6-foot-2, 182 pounds, DRC is also very durable and still two months shy of his 27th birthday. He's one of the league's better ball-hawkers. All that should translate to a big payday despite his inconsistent play. DRC would be due roughly $10.7 million under the franchise tag. The Sideline View's Adam Caplan "would be surprised" DRC is back in Philadelphia.
Feb 13 - 2:30 PM

TheSidelineView.com's Adam Caplan "would be surprised" if the Eagles re-signed free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

However, Caplan says he's not entirely ruling it out. DRC has been a bust since arriving in the Kevin Kolb trade, notching just three interceptions in 29 games while grading out very poorly in Pro Football Focus' ratings. Still just 27 (in April) and a 16-game starter three of the past four seasons, DRC is going to be looking for top dollar on the open market.

The Eagles have yet to open contract talks with impending free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

A "a high-ranking NFL source" tells CSN Philly the Eagles have yet to begin talks with any of their free agents to be, which include OL King Dunlap, DT Derek Landri, DE Darryl Tapp, LB Akeem Jordan and special-teams ace Colt Anderson. It could be a sign that sweeping changes to the Eagles' front office are indeed on the way. On the field, DRC's play has remained spotty for the second consecutive season. He's an unlikely candidate for the franchise tag, which is expected to cost roughly $10.5 million for cornerbacks in 2013.

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, it's no longer a "given" that impending unrestricted free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will be re-signed.

Rodgers-Cromartie has outplayed Nnamdi Asomugha this season, but that's nothing to write home about. According to Pro Football Focus, DRC ranks 171st among corners this season and Asomugha comes in at 190th. The Eagles would be wise to let Rodgers-Cromartie test the market before offering him a long-term deal. Outside of last week's game against the Bucs, his gametape this year speaks volumes. The Daily News calls DRC "a flake who often seems more into his pink wardrobe than playing football."

There is still "nothing brewing" on a contract extension for CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

The Eagles rarely negotiate extension during seasons. And with a new regime expected in next year, it wouldn't make much sense to lock up players now. Rodgers-Cromartie has been the Eagles' top corner this year, with quarterbacks posting a mere 62.4 passer rating when throwing at him according to Pro Football Focus. That rating is 109.5 when they throw at Nnamdi Asomugha -- who is owed a base salary of $15 million next season.

The Eagles have yet to begin extension talks with CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Rodgers-Cromartie is in the final year of his contract, and said last week that he thought something "might get done" during the bye. With the Eagles an estimated $15 million over the salary cap for next season, however, it's unlikely that the sides will come to an agreement. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that an extension for Rodgers-Cromartie ranks "fairly low" on the list of concerns for GM Howie Roseman.
