Rams re-signed G/T Chris Williams to a one-year contract.
The deal is worth "up to" $2.75 million, but Williams' base salary should be near the veteran's minimum. The former first-round bust appeared in six games between the Rams and Bears last season, playing 88 snaps. He won't be guaranteed a roster spot. Apr 1 - 1:49 PM

The Rams haven't ruled out re-signing free agent T/G Chris Williams.

Williams was signed prior to Week 8 last season, and appeared in six games. The former first-round pick visited the Panthers two weeks ago, but that's been his only visit. Williams would return as a backup-only with the Rams.

Free agent G/T Chris Williams will visit the Panthers.

We're getting to the nitty gritty of free agency. A replacement-level talent, Williams appeared in six games between the Bears and Rams last season. The former first-round bust would fight for one of Carolina's final roster spots if signed.

The Rams will continue to rotate Chris Williams and Shelley Smith at right guard for the regular season finale in Seattle.

After placing Harvey Dahl (torn biceps) on injured reserve prior to Week 16, Smith played 31 snaps while Williams played 24 last week against the Bucs. Both players held their own but weren't overly spectacular. The offensive line sits atop the positions to address for the Rams in the offseason.

Rams signed G/T Chris Williams, formerly of the Bears.

The former first-round pick proved a hot commodity after being released by the Bears last week, drawing at least four workouts. He could see time at tackle with both Wayne Hunter and Rodger Saffold banged up, but he'll likely get more snaps at guard. Left guard is Williams' best position, and the Rams released Quinn Ojinnaka on Monday after inserting Shelley Smith into the starting lineup for Week 7. Williams has made 38 career starts, 20 of which have come at left guard.

The Chargers are hosting free agent G/T Chris Williams on Friday.

Williams is shopping his wares effectively after Tuesday's release from the Bears, having already visited the Cardinals and Eagles. He figures to latch on with the highest one-year bidder. Williams would be smart to pick a team willing to let him play left guard, where he has played his best ball.

Free agent G/T Chris Williams is visiting the Cardinals Thursday.

Williams left Philadelphia on Wednesday without a contract. The 2008 first-round pick of the Bears is now meeting with a team fielding the worst offensive line in the entire league. At the very least, Williams would give the Cards a talent infusion.

Free agent G/T Chris Williams will visit the Eagles on Wednesday.

It won't be hard for Williams, a 2008 first-round pick, to find work. The Eagles have been scuffling to replace LT Jason Peters (Achilles') all season and are also thin on the interior after losing C Jason Kelce (knee). Williams has 38 career starts under his belt -- 20 at left guard.

Bears released G/T Chris Williams and re-signed CB Zack Bowman.

Despite pre-draft neck concerns around the league, Williams was drafted 14th overall out of Vanderbilt in 2008. The Bears tried him at left guard for two years after failing at left tackle, but threw in the towel on that project in the second half of last season. It speaks volumes that Williams was unable to beat out J'Marcus Webb, one of the league's most inconsistent blindside protectors. Bowman will help out on special teams.

Bears G/T Chris Williams has resumed taking reps at left tackle.

The Bears are ratcheting up the pressure on LT J'Marcus Webb, who has drawn the ire of OC Mike Tice. Webb was left in for nearly the entire game in Thursday's preseason opener. Webb's job is very much in jeopardy, but Williams has been injury prone the past two seasons, and had little career success at tackle.

LT/LG Chris Williams does not plan on asking for a trade out of Chicago.

Williams, a 2008 first-round pick, has already lost out to J'Marcus Webb for the left tackle gig. But he has more value to the Bears as a versatile backup than as a trade chip. Williams will be on the hunt for a chance at a starting gig when he hits unrestricted free agency after this season.

The Bears will reportedly move LG Chris Williams back to tackle with the opportunity to unseat LT J'Marcus Webb.

We've learned to trust OC Mike Tice's instincts up front given how little he's had to work with, but this is a bizarre move considering Williams has been more successful inside than outside. Gabe Carimi is expected to hold down right tackle while the two guards will come from a group of Lance Louis, Chris Spencer, Chilo Rachal, and Edwin Williams. The Bears have added impressive weapons this offseason, but their O-Line remains a big concern.

The Bears are expected to move LG Chris Williams back to tackle this season.

Chicago has precious little depth behind projected starters J'Marcus Webb and Gabe Carimi, and Williams was originally drafted to play tackle. At the new position, Williams would push inconsistent Webb for his starting job. If the Bears' ultimate intent is to put the five best linemen on the field, however, Williams could end up back at left guard by the end of August.

The Chicago Sun-Times expects Chris Williams to push J'Marcus Webb for the starting left tackle job next season.

Webb graded out as the worst full-time starting left tackle in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus, and Williams is coming on strong as both a pass and run blocker. New offensive coordinator Mike Tice recently defended the play and potential of Webb, but could look to bring in some competition in training camp. The 14th overall pick in the 2008 draft, Williams started nine games at guard before being lost for the season to a wrist injury.

Despite coming off a significant wrist dislocation and fracture, Bears LG Chris Williams is expected to be healthy "well in advance" of training camp.

He's also expected to be penciled in as a starter, with Lance Louis at the other guard, Gabe Carimi and J'Marcus Webb at the tackles, and Roberto Garza at center. Williams, the 14th overall pick in the 2008 draft, was coming on strong as both a pass and run blocker before the wrist injury in mid-November.
