Broncos WR Andre Caldwell "took it personal" that he wasn't invited to catch passes from Peyton Manning at Duke University last week.
"No invite to Duke to run routes and catch passes," Caldwell tweeted. "I took it personal." Manning invited his top three receivers -- Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas, and Eric Decker -- and said there wasn't enough space to invite everyone. Caldwell, 28, caught one pass in eight games for Denver last season. Apr 15 - 6:57 PM

Broncos WR Andre Caldwell was deactivated for Week 1.

Caldwell suffered "badly battered" ribs in Denver's second preseason game and has done little since. Meanwhile, Brandon Stokley has run away with the Broncos' slot receiver job. When Caldwell returns, he may only play special teams.

X-rays showed no broken ribs for Broncos WR Andre Caldwell after he left Saturday's preseason game versus the Seahawks in the third quarter.

Caldwell ripped off his helmet in pain after taking a shot to the kidney from Seahawks safety Chris Maragos. Caldwell was expected to push for the third receiver job, but he's clearly behind Brandon Stokley, who led the first-team offense with 41 yards on three catches. Caldwell does, however, seem to have taken over as the primary kickoff returner with Matthew Willis on punts.

The Denver Post expects Andre Caldwell to "push hard for prime playing time" at wide receiver this season.

Caldwell showed a "quick rapport" with Peyton Manning and the coaching staff is believed to be fond of his speed. Caldwell won't push starters Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, but he should be the favorite for the No. 3 role.

Broncos signed WR Andre Caldwell, formerly of the Bengals.

It's a two-year deal, per Profootballtalk.com. Caldwell ran a 4.37 at 6-foot-1, 209 at the 2008 Combine, but he doesn't play nearly that fast. His career yards-per-catch average is 9.5. In Denver, Caldwell figures to compete for third receiver duties and play on special teams. He is a willing blocker, and can play both the Z (flanker) and slot positions on offense. With Peyton Manning at the helm, it's certainly not out of the question that Caldwell will come into 2012 fantasy value.

In addition to Jerome Simpson, Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer does not envision free agent Andre Caldwell back with the Bengals in 2012.

Reedy was just answering a Twitter question, but he's as plugged into the Bengals' thinking as any beat writer in the NFL. Caldwell ran 4.37 at 6'0/209 coming out of Florida in 2008, but he's been strictly a possession threat at the NFL level. With ex-Bengals OC Bob Bratkowski now coordinating the offense in Jacksonville, the Jags may give Caldwell a look as a third receiver.

Bengals placed WR Andre Caldwell (groin) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The 2008 third-rounder may have played his last down with the Bengals, as he's set to enter free agency in the offseason. Caldwell will finish the season with 317 yards and three TDs on 37 receptions. He's yet to top 450 yards in a season.

Bengals declared Andre Caldwell (groin) inactive for Saturday's Week 16 game against the Cardinals.

Caldwell's groin/abdominal injury is serious enough that he went to see a specialist this week. He may be done for the year. The rest of the Bengals' inactives: RB Brian Leonard, TE Colin Cochart, G Otis Hudson, DT Nick Hayden, LB Dontay Moch and S Robert Sands.

Andre Caldwell visited a specialist Wednesday regarding his groin/abdominal injury.

Caldwell isn't expected to play in Week 16 and is in danger of getting shut down. It sounds like it could be a sports hernia. Andrew Hawkins will pick up snaps in the slot.

Bengals WR Andre Caldwell is in danger of missing the final two regular season games with an abdominal/groin injury.

Caldwell, who is in a contract year, revealed that he originally suffered the injury in training camp and it's just now catching up to him. It kept him out of Week 15. Undrafted rookie Andrew Hawkins is Caldwell's backup in the slot.

Coach Marvin Lewis suggested that nagging injuries led to Andre Caldwell's Week 15 deactivation.

Caldwell, who was inactive for the first time since Week 1 of the 2010 season, was not listed on the injury report. "He never complains but he has been battling through some stuff," said Lewis. "I can see that something ain't right." Rookie Ryan Whalen had one catch for seven yards in Caldwell's place.

Bengals WR Andre Caldwell is inactive for Week 15 against the Rams.

Caldwell is not injured, and the Bengals are calling his deactivation a "coach's decision." Sixth-round rookie Ryan Whalen is active in his place, while Andrew Hawkins is expected to man the slot. Also inactive for the Bengals are RT Andre Smith, S Robert Sands, FB Chris Pressley, RB Brian Leonard, LB Dontay Moch and G Otis Hudson.

Andre Caldwell caught three passes for 24 yards in Sunday's win over the Browns.

With A.J. Green (knee) healthy, Caldwell went back to his slot role. He saw just three targets all day and is back off the fantasy radar.
Sun, Nov 27, 2011 05:08:00 PM

Andre Caldwell caught three passes for 63 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.

Caldwell never broke stride in hauling in a 49-yard scoring strike fron Andy Dalton early in the fourth quarter. His third touchdown of the season was his second in three weeks. Averaging 3.2 catches for 28.3 yards, Caldwell still isn't more than a desperation fantasy option at receiver.

Andre Caldwell will start opposite Jerome Simpson in Week 11 if A.J. Green (knee) can't go.

The Bengals' passing game could go south in a tough matchup against the Ravens, as Caldwell has just a fraction of Green's play-making ability. Averaging just 25 yards per game over the past three years, Caldwell isn't a viable WR3/4 option.
