Date:

Andre Caldwell (knee) is practicing in full for Week 6.

Caldwell suffered a knee injury in Sunday's win, but shouldn't end up missing any time. He'll play in four-wide sets against the Jets.
Oct 8 - 6:31 PM

Andre Caldwell left Sunday's Week 5 win over the Cardinals with a knee injury and did not return.

Caldwell is headed for further testing Monday. If he misses time, Cody Latimer would slide into the No. 4 WR role.

Oct 6 - 11:03 AM

Andre Caldwell caught two passes for 16 yards in the Broncos' Sunday night win over the Colts.

Caldwell started with Wes Welker suspended, playing with Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders in three-wide sets. He had five targets, but was a non-factor in the pass game. Caldwell isn't worth rostering in 12-team leagues.
Sep 8 - 1:50 AM

Andre Caldwell is listed as the starter in place of suspended Wes Welker for Sunday night's Week 1 game against the Colts.

As far as we can tell, Caldwell will start in three-wide sets while Emmanuel Sanders kicks into the slot. But there's going to be plenty of rotating involving Caldwell, Cody Latimer and even tight end Jacob Tamme. ESPN Broncos reporter Jeff Legwold has been adamant that Latimer will get plenty of chances even though the Denver Post suggests a smaller role because the rookie isn't fully up to speed yet in the no-huddle offense. Ideally, owners will be able to take a wait-and-see approach here. We'll have a much clearer picture of Denver's plan to replace Welker come Monday.

Sep 7 - 6:42 PM

When Wes Welker missed the final three games of the 2013 regular season, Andre Caldwell averaged 3.6 catches for 37.6 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Caldwell did get 6.6 targets a game, highlighting the opportunity that's now presented to him with Wes Welker suspended for four games. Caldwell, not Cody Latimer, was the No. 4 wideout throughout the preseason (behind Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders and Welker). Still, the far more talented and bigger Latimer is expected to rotate in for red-zone packages and Jacob Tamme is a candidate to have his role expanded as well. Anyone starting with Peyton Manning is obviously worth a long look, but Caldwell's limitations as a player keep him in the WR3/4 range.
Sep 3 - 8:50 AM

The Denver Post names Andre Caldwell as the player who "figures" to see more playing time if Wes Welker (concussion) misses action.

That's the way it went down on Saturday night, as Caldwell soaked up first-team reps while rookie Cody Latimer was strictly used with the reserves. The Post says Caldwell "has gained the coaches' trust with his reliability." Still, Latimer is the far more talented player and has had a strong first camp. We'd expect the Broncos to realize sooner rather than later that Emmanuel Sanders in the slot and Latimer outside would be their best bet without Welker.

Aug 25 - 8:09 AM

Andre Caldwell played ahead of Cody Latimer in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans.

Demaryius Thomas called it a night early, so Caldwell got a bunch of first-team reps and caught two passes for 18 yards. Latimer didn't get in the game until Brock Osweiler came on. It's something definitely worth monitoring as Wes Welker took another shot to the head and was being evaluated for a concussion Saturday night.
Aug 24 - 12:04 AM

Broncos re-signed WR Andre Caldwell to a two-year contract.

According to Profootballtalk, the deal is worth a max of $3.45 million. Caldwell's 2014 base salary is likely in the neighborhood of $1 million. A six-year veteran, Caldwell caught just 16 passes last season. Even if Eric Decker walks, Caldwell shouldn't see a major uptick in production.
Mar 11 - 3:08 PM

Andre Caldwell was held without a catch in Super Bowl 48.

The Broncos relied on three-receiver and two-tight end sets against Seattle, so fourth wideout Caldwell was limited to special teams. An impending free agent, Caldwell won't be a hot commodity on the open market. Turning 29 in April, the journeyman finished the 2013 regular season with 16 catches for 200 yards and three TDs.
Feb 2 - 10:40 PM

Andre Caldwell caught one pass for 11 yards in Denver's AFC Championship game win over New England.

Caldwell played only in four-receiver packages, coming off the bench behind Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, and Wes Welker. His lone catch came with about one minute left in the first half, helping to set up Matt Prater's second field goal. Caldwell now has two catches for 26 yards through two playoff games.
Jan 19 - 6:31 PM

Andre Caldwell caught one pass for 15 yards in Denver's Divisional Round win over San Diego.

Playing in sub-package sets, fourth receiver Caldwell caught a 15-yard pass on Denver's opening drive. He wasn't heard from again. Caldwell will continue to be a lightly used reserve when the Broncos host the Patriots.
Jan 12 - 8:23 PM

Andre Caldwell had three catches for 42 yards in Week 17 against the Raiders.

Caldwell got the majority of his yardage in the second half after the Broncos rested their starters. He'll go back to being the No. 4 receiver with Wes Welker (concussion) fully expected to be cleared for the playoffs. Caldwell finishes the 2013 season with 16 catches for 200 yards and three touchdowns.
Sun, Dec 29, 2013 09:01:00 PM

Andre Caldwell was held to two catches for 12 yards in Denver's Week 16 win over the Texans.

The Broncos used more two-tight end sets with Jacob Tamme and Julius Thomas in this one, rather than flooding the field with wideouts. Caldwell turned in a dud. Expect him to get more playing time in the regular season finale against Oakland, especially if the AFC West champs rest their starters.
Sun, Dec 22, 2013 04:30:00 PM

Andre Caldwell is tentatively expected to be the Broncos third receiver again Sunday.

Wes Welker has not been medically cleared to even practice yet, so the Broncos are prepping Caldwell for a similar role he had in Week 15. On that night, he played on 68.5 percent of the snaps and recorded a 6/59/2 line. "I thought Bubba Caldwell played really well," Peyton Manning said. "Great route on that first touchdown, did a great job getting in the end zone on a play he hasn't [worked] that much, so that's a good job knowing what to do, being in his playbook. We'll count on him this week if he has to play." Caldwell will be a risky WR3 because of all the weapons in the Broncos' offense, but he'll have tons of scoring upside thanks to Manning.
