Ravens signed CB Antoine Cason.
Desperation strikes, as the Ravens have lost five cornerbacks due to injury this season and released two others due to poor play. The latest casualties were Danny Gorrer (knee) and Anthony Levine (concussion). So they'll give Cason a shot even though he was arguably the worst corner in the NFL this season before getting dumped by the Panthers last week. Luckily for the Ravens, they face Blake Bortles and Ryan Fitzpatrick over the next two weeks. Tue, Dec 9, 2014 09:47:00 AM

Bears worked out free agent CB Antonie Cason on Friday.

Cason was waived by the Panthers on Dec. 2 after a disastrous 2014 campaign in which he was benched multiple times. The Bears certainly need help in their secondary, but Cason is not the answer.

Panthers waived CB Antoine Cason.

Cason has been one of the worst corners in the league this season, and was benched in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. He managed 58 tackles, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions over 12 games (11 starts). The Panthers will move forward with Bene Benwikere opposite Josh Norman.

The Panthers are contemplating benching LCB Antoine Cason.

Cason was benched for the second half of last Thursday night's Week 9 tilt against the Saints, and the team is considering making it a permanent change. Melvin White, who was benched at RCB in favor of Josh Norman earlier this season, is the top option to replace Cason. Cason has allowed quarterbacks to complete 81.8 percent of their passes in his coverage and five touchdowns. Cason is Pro Football Focus' worst cover corner out of 109 qualifiers.

The Charlotte Observer believes CB Antoine Cason will enter training camp atop the depth chart.

Cason signed a one-year deal with Carolina after playing sparingly in Arizona last season. A 2008 first-round pick of the Chargers, Cason has a chance to rehab his career in Carolina. The front seven in Carolina takes so much pressure off the secondary even middling players like Captain Munnerlyn and Drayton Florence were able to flourish last season. Cason could thrive in that situation, earning himself a hefty payday next offseason.

Panthers agreed to terms with CB Antoine Cason on a one-year contract.

A 2008 first-round pick of the Chargers, Cason is now on his third NFL team. He played sparingly in Arizona last season, drawing below-average marks in coverage but making a heroic pick-six of Ryan Fitzpatrick in the Cards' Week 15 overtime win against Tennessee. Cason is a big-bodied corner going on age 28. He'll compete for playing time in a limited-talent Carolina secondary.

Free agent CB Antoine Cason will visit the Panthers.

The ex-Charger played only 169 defensive snaps for the Cardinals last season, struggling in coverage. He's still only 27, however, and just one year removed from being a 16-game starter. Cason would be a sensible, cheap flier for a team with a beastly front seven that takes pressure off its secondary.

Cardinals agreed to terms with CB Antoine Cason, formerly of the Chargers, on a one-year, $2 million contract.

Long and lean at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, Cason is a good fit for DC Todd Bowles' preferred press coverage. Although he's started each of the past three seasons, Cason could be coming to town as the Cardinals' No. 3 corner after they gave Jerraud Powers a three-year, $10.5 million deal. Cason's size could land him on the outside when Powers moves to the slot in nickel packages. Cason is coming off a year where he notched 73 tackles, two interceptions and two forced fumbles, but graded out as the sixth worst cornerback in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

The Dolphins have reportedly "cooled" on free agent CB Antoine Cason.

The free-spending Dolphins haven't shown much urgency at cornerback. Perhaps they have someone like Cary Williams in mind, or maybe they'll address the position in the draft. Cason has drawn light interest from Jacksonville, Carolina, and Washington, but his only known visit was to the Cardinals.

Free agent CB Antoine Cason is visiting the Cardinals.

Teams have been after Cason. He has also been linked to the Redskins, Browns, Lions, and Dolphins. He fits the mold for Todd Bowles' defense as a press corner with good length. Cason played college ball at the University of Arizona.

The Redskins have reportedly reached out to free agent CB Antoine Cason.

Cason has now been linked to the 'Skins, Browns, Lions and Dolphins. As a 26-year-old press corner with good size, it's not a surprise. He could end up costing upwards of $5 million per year.

The Lions "remain interested" in CB Antoine Cason as free agency approaches.

26-year-old Cason would be a strong fit for Lions DC Gunther Cunningham's press-man scheme. The Lions are also interested in re-signing Chris Houston.

The Browns and Lions have shown interest in free agent CB Antoine Cason.

The Chargers are reportedly "still in the mix." New Browns DC Ray Horton likes his corners to be taller and able tacklers, and Cason fits the bill. Cason also has ties to OC Norv Turner and coach Rob Chudzinski from their days together in San Diego. The 26-year-old will have plenty of suitors.

Sirius XM Radio's Adam Caplan passes along buzz that "multiple teams" are in the mix for free agent CB Antoine Cason.

The Colts would make sense as a team that plays press-man in the secondary and recently hired former Chargers exec Jimmy Raye. Indianapolis is also needy at corner. Cason is 26 years old. He was the 27th overall pick in the 2008 draft.

The Arizona Republic specifically mentions free agent CB Antoine Cason as a player that "makes sense" for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals are as thin as it gets at the cornerback spot after the release of William Gay last week. Cason is a bigger corner, which is how new DC Todd Bowles likes his corners to be. The Union-Tribune San Diego predicted last month that Cason could get upwards of $5 million annually on the open market.
