The Broncos will not try to re-sign WR Darrell Jackson before the start of free agency.
D-Jax, still relatively young at 30 years old, failed to take advantage of a plum opportunity in Denver and will not be heavily pursued on the open market. He's now four years removed from his last 16-game, 1,000-yard season. Wed, Feb 25, 2009 10:19:00 AM

Darrell Jackson caught three passes for 18 yards against the Jags in Week 6.

Jackson failed to take advantage of a plum opportunity filling in for Eddie Royal against a patchwork Jags secondary. He may find himself inactive again next week if Royal and Brandon Stokley are healthy enough to play.

Darrell Jackson (calf) is listed as probable for Week 6. He practiced without restrictions all week.

Eddie Royal's balky ankle likely means Jackson will be on the game-day roster whether or not Royal plays. Jackson will start if Royal is inactive and is a fine "handcuff" pickup against a reeling Jacksonville secondary.

Darrell Jackson (calf) returned to a complete practice Wednesday.

With Broncos coach Mike Shanahan saying he expects Eddie Royal (ankle) to be a go for Week 6, Jackson one-week sleeper shine has all but worn off. Even if Jackson is active Sunday, he seems unlikely to play many snaps.

Darrell Jackson, who has been largely invisible this season with the emergence of Eddie Royal, could see the field with Royal sidelined with an ankle injury.

Jackson has also been slowed by a calf injury, so his return is not certain. He scored a touchdown with his only catch in the opener against the Raiders and could be a decent stopgap option if he's playing. Glenn Martinez will see an increased role if Jackson can't go.

Darrell Jackson (calf) has resumed practicing for the Broncos.

He'd need an injury to Brandon Marshall to matter again in fantasy.

Broncos declared WR Darrell Jackson, DT Dewayne Robertson, LB Louis Green, DT Josh Shaw, S Vernon Fox, OLs Erik Pears and Dylan Gandy, and RB Ryan Torain inactive for Week 4.

Robertson's absence helps Larry Johnson's matchup.

Broncos declared WR Darrell Jackson, S Hamza Abdullah, RB Ryan Torain, LB Louis Green, T Erik Pears, C Tom Nalen, DT Nic Clemson and DE Tim Crowder inactive for Week 3 against the Saints.

Darrell Jackson (calf) has been ruled out for Week 3.

Cliff Russell will be Denver's fourth receiver Sunday. Jackson should have been dropped in all leagues when Brandon Marshall came off suspension.

Broncos WR Darrell Jackson (calf) missed a second straight full workout Thursday.

Jackson no longer has a steady role in the offense, so he's basically a fifth receiver.

Broncos declared WR Darrell Jackson, S Hamza Abdullah, FB Peyton Hillis, RB Ryan Torain, LB Louis Green, T Erik Pears, C Tom Nalen, WR Darrell Jackson, DT Nic Clemons, DE Jarvis Moss inactive for Week 2.

Jackson no longer has game-day value with Brandon Marshall returning because he doesn't play special teams. In essence, he's a fifth receiver now. Abdullah is behind Marquand Manuel on the depth chart. Moss remains an early-career bust.

Darrell Jackson caught one pass, a 48-yard touchdown, in his Week 1 spot start for the Broncos.

He was stuck on a goose egg through 2.5 quarters before Jay Cutler hit him on a deep route up the left sideline and Michael Huff blew a tackle, allowing Jackson to score. Jackson will be a fourth receiver with the Week 2 return of Brandon Marshall, but it's nice to see that he can still run a bit.

Despite his lingering ankle injury, Darrell Jackson is still expected to open the season in Denver's starting lineup.

It won't be long, as Brandon Marshall could be back in 1-2 weeks (pending his suspension appeal). It'd take a desperate owner to use D-Jax in Week 1 at Oakland. Denver's Week 2 matchup vs. San Diego isn't enticing either.
