Raiders signed DT Pat Sims, formerly of the Bengals.
Although Sims is one dimensional, he is an efficient run stopper and can fill a needed role on an Oakland defense that annually struggles to stop ground attacks. Sims turned 27 last November. He packs 335 pounds on a 6-foot-2 frame. Mar 13 - 5:48 PM

Free agent DT Pat Sims is visiting the Raiders.

After sitting out the first day of free agency, the Raiders are starting to make some calls. With Oakland's front seven being decimated by releases and departures, Sims wouldn't hurt for a role by the bay. Sims' injury history would necessitate a back-up plan if he's signed as a starter.

The Cincinnati Enquirer says unless the Bengals offer free agent DT Pat Sims a multi-year deal, then he's likely not going to be back.

Sims has been in the league for five years, but he's still just 27 years old. He's battled injuries over the last three seasons, though. Sims has broken his forearm, undergone knee surgery, damaged ligaments in his ankle, and battled hamstring woes, forcing him to miss 15 games. The former third-round pick could be a bargain for a team in need of a one-dimensional run stuffer.

Bengals activated DT Pat Sims (hamstring) from the PUP list.

Sims will work his way into the defensive line rotation as a situational run plugger. The Bengals run defense ranks 26th in Football Outsiders' metrics.

Bengals DT Pat Sims (PUP, hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday.

The Bengals now have three weeks to decide if they'll promote Sims to the active roster. If healthy, he can chip in as a run-stuffer off the bench. Cincy is currently giving up an unruly 4.40 YPC to opposing rushers.

Bengals placed DT Pat Sims (hamstring) on the reserve/PUP list.

Sims has dealt with the hamstring injury since early in camp. He'll provide depth as a situational run-stuffer after sitting out the first six games of the season.

Bengals re-signed DT Pat Sims.

A run stuffer, Sims was limited to 297 snaps last season before landing on injured reserve with torn ligaments in his left ankle. He's appeared in at least 11 games for the Bengals each of the past four years, however, and will provide depth at tackle behind Geno Atkins and Domata Peko. The Bengals previously lost DLs Jonathan Fanene and Frostee Rucker in free agency.

It's "believed" the Bengals have interest in re-signing DT Pat Sims and OT Anthony Collins.

The 2008 third-rounders have attracted surprisingly little interest considering their age and specialization. Sims is an effective situational run-stuffer while Collins is a fine swing tackle.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports free agent DT Pat Sims is expected to test the open market.

As is free agent OT Anthony Collins. A situational run stopper, Sims played 297 snaps across 11 games before torn ankle ligaments landed him on injured reserve in December. Still just 26, he'll attract interest as a run-stuffing specialist.

Bengals placed DT Pat Sims on injured reserve with damaged ligaments in his left ankle, ending his season.

Sims got rolled up on during the Week 12 loss to the Browns, further damaging a banged-up Bengals defense. Sims' fourth season ends with 20 tackles and one sack in 11 games. He'll attract attention on the unrestricted free agent market this spring as a run stuffer.

Bengals DT Pat Sims left Sunday's game against the Browns in the third quarter with a left ankle injury.

This has the look of a serious injury. Sims got rolled up on during a running play and needed to be carted off.

Bengals DT Pat Sims (knee surgery) participated in his first practice of training camp Sunday.

Sims is expected to play in Thursday's preseason finale. The nature of his knee surgery unknown, but he figures to be part of a heavy rotation at tackle anyway. Geno Atkins, Domata Peko and Clinton McDonald are part of a young interior for the Bengals.

Bengals DT Pat Sims is expected to start in place of Tank Johnson (knee).

DE Michael Johnson is expected to take the place of Frostee Rucker (knee). Week 11 opponent Fred Jackson comes in as our 18th ranked running back play.

Bengals DT Pat Sims (forearm) is not expected to return to practice until training camp.

A stout run defender as a rotational defensive lineman, Sims' season ended before the playoffs after he broke his forearm. He'll return in the same role this year.

Bengals placed DT Pat Sims on injured reserve with a broken right forearm, ending his season.

Sims lost his starting job in the summer to Tank Johnson, but played a key role off the bench as a rotational run stuffer. He finished with 34 tackles and a half-sack. Signed cheaply through 2011, Sims will be back next season.
