Lichtensteiger started all 16 games last season, but he was coming back from a torn ACL and MCL while also dealing with a high-ankle sprain at the end of the year. Kory Lichtensteiger - G - Redskins

Redskins agreed to terms with LG Kory Lichtensteiger on a five-year contract.

28-year-old Lichtensteiger was among the least effective left guards in football last season, but was coming back from a torn right ACL and MCL. While the Redskins expect him to be better in 2013, he'll have to hold off Josh LeRibeus.

Free agent LG Kory Lichtensteiger would welcome a return to the Redskins.

Lichtensteiger started all 17 games in 2012. Coach Mike Shanahan recently called him the team's best run blocker, but Pro Football Focus graded Lichtensteiger out as 81-of-81 among qualifying guards in the category. Washington has 2012 third-rounder Josh LeRibeus ready to step in at left guard.

Redskins LG Kory Lichtensteiger (ankle) and SS DeJon Gomes (knee) are active for Sunday's Wild Card round matchup with the Seahawks.

Touch-and-go all week, Lichtensteiger wasn't cleared until passing pregame tests on Sunday. Gomes is returning from a Grade 2 MCL sprain sustained in Week 16. Redskins inactives: QB Rex Grossman, WR Brandon Banks, WR Dez Briscoe, LB Roddrick Muckelroy, LB Vic So'oto, OT Tom Compton and OG Adam Gettis.

Redskins LG Kory Lichtensteiger left the stadium in a walking boot after sustaining an ankle injury in Sunday night's win.

Rookie third-rounder Josh LeRibeus replaced him in the third quarter. Lichtensteiger downplayed the injury, suggesting he will return to play versus the Seahawks. "I'm feeling all right," Lichtensteiger said. "I think with a week of treatment, take it easy for the next couple days I'll be all right."

"I don’t know for sure, but definitely by (the) regular season," Lichtensteiger said. "They’re just going to see how I feel and go by that. That’s what I’m trying to do. It feels good right now." Lichtensteiger won't play in the preseason. Maurice Hurt will start at left guard if Lichtensteiger isn't ready for Week 1.

Redskins LG Kory Lichtensteiger says he feels "OK" one week after undergoing a clean-up procedure on his troublesome right knee.

"It feels better than any other surgery I’ve ever had. I guess that means it’s nice and minor. I feel like everything is going good." Lichtensteiger said. "The prognosis is good. They expect me to be back out. That’s the encouraging thing for me." Maurice Hurt is filling in at left guard in Lichtensteiger's absence, and very well could find himself there in Week 1.

Redskins LG Kory Lichtensteiger underwent a clean-up procedure on his troublesome right knee Monday, but is expected to be ready for Week 1.

Color us skeptical. Lichtensteiger absolutely shredded his knee last season, tearing his ACL and MCL while suffering meniscus damage. Coach Mike Shanahan claimed his MRI revealed no ACL or MCL damage, however. Regardless, Lichtensteiger is now in real danger of missing Week 1. The Redskins may be forced to turn to 2011 seventh-rounder Maurice Hurt at left guard. Washington should be in the market for a guard.

Redskins LG Kory Lichtensteiger (ACL, MCL surgery) was medically cleared for camp and is practicing in team drills.

Lichtensteiger blew out his knee in the fifth game last season, and the Skins went 2-10 thereafter. He worked with the first-team offense in Friday's practice.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan expects Lichtensteiger to be ready for camp. "I expect Kory to come back and to play as good as he was when he left off," Shanahan said. "I expect him to be our starter." If Lichtensteiger suffers a setback or is ineffective in the preseason, the Redskins could give 2011 seventh-rounder Maurice Hurt a look at left guard.
