The knee injury sustained by Chiefs TE Martin Rucker in last Friday's practice is believed to be a torn ACL.

Rucker will seek a second opinion before going under the knife. The injury "doesn't look good," acknowledged coach Romeo Crennel. Although Rucker had just two catches in four seasons since joining the NFL out of Missouri, he was running with the second-team offense in Kansas City this offseason.

Chiefs TE Martin Rucker suffered a knee injury in Friday's OTAs.

He walked off the field with a "noticeable limp." Rucker was waived by Dallas following a costly special teams mistake in Week 1 last season. Claimed by the Jags, he was sent to I.R. with an undisclosed injury in November. He'll have a zero percent chance of earning a roster spot if he isn't 100 percent healthy.

Chiefs signed TE Martin Rucker, LB Leon Williams, DB Dominique Ellis, and OL Rich Ranglin.

Former mid-round picks Rucker and Williams share a combined 69 games of NFL experience, but are roster longshots in Kansas City. Undrafted out of South Carolina State, Ellis earned a longer look with a strong tryout in rookie camp. Ranglin played last year with the Arena League's Kansas City Command.

Free agent TE Martin Rucker is among the tryout players auditioning at Chiefs rookie minicamp this weekend.

Rucker has spent time with the Jaguars, Browns, Bucs, Eagles, and Cowboys since being drafted in the 2008 fourth round. Once billed as a potential mismatch tight end with receiving skills, Rucker is trying to earn another contract.

The Jaguars failed to tender exclusive rights free agent TE Martin Rucker.

Signed for depth in October, Rucker lasted three weeks in Jacksonville before landing on injured reserve. He has just two catches in four seasons since joining the NFL out of Missouri, where Rucker was a product of a spread offense.

Jaguars placed TE Martin Rucker (undisclosed) on injured reserve, ending his season.

There are no details on Rucker's injury. The Jaguars had signed him three weeks ago to add depth with Zach Miller done for the season.

Jaguars signed TE Martin Rucker off the Cowboys' practice squad.

The Jags were on the look-out for a pass-catching specialist at the position after losing Zach Miller to injured reserve. Rucker was terrific in college, but he has just two catches for 17 yards across four NFL seasons.

Cowboys waived TE Martin Rucker.

Martellus Bennett (ankle) is expected to return to practice this week, leaving Rucker as more of a luxury than necessity. Rucker has done nothing in the NFL after a productive career at Mizzou.

Cowboys signed TE Martin Rucker from their practice squad.

The Bills tried to sign Rucker from the Cowboys' practice squad, so evidently they decided to promote him instead of losing him. Rucker was a terrific pass-catcher in college at Missouri but won't be seeing any time on offense behind Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett.

Cowboys released TE Martin Rucker, NT Junior Siavii, LB Steve Octavien, and TE Jason Pociask.

DajLeon Farr was also cut, so the Cowboys have opted to go with just Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett at tight end. Supplemental pick Josh Brent's emergence allowed the team to dump backup nose tackle Siavii.

Cowboys signed TE Martin Rucker and waived QB Matt Nichols.

Dallas put in a waiver claim for Rucker last week, before he failed a physical with the Bucs. The Cowboys believe his hamstring injury is not serious, and he'll provide depth behind Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett. Nichols was a UFA out of Eastern Washington.

Bucs waived/failed physical TE Martin Rucker.

The Cowboys put in a claim for Rucker after he was waived by the Eagles earlier in the week. Now is their opportunity, though he's clearly not 100%.

Bucs claimed TE Martin Rucker off waivers from the Eagles and waived WR Mario Urrutia.

Rucker showed little in Eagles camp behind Clay Harbor and Cornelius Ingram, and will have just as hard a time making the Bucs without blocking ability. Urrutia was a dominant collegiate, but his skills haven't translated.

Eagles released TE Martin Rucker.

The Eagles were reportedly high on Rucker after he was signed to their practice squad late last year, but obviously he's been unable to make a strong enough impression. He had little chance of making an impact, anyway, as the No. 4 tight end.
