Browns RG John Greco (Lisfranc surgery) expects to be ready for training camp.
It is an aggressive goal after Greco underwent Lisfranc surgery in mid-December. He is more likely to open camp on the PUP list, but he could be ready for Week 1. LG Joel Bitonio is also recovering from Lisfranc surgery. Jan 2 - 12:44 PM

Browns RG John Greco (foot, I.R.) underwent Lisfranc surgery this week.

This puts Greco in danger of missing the start of next season. Both Greco and LG Joel Bitonio required Lisfranc surgeries this season, and their losses helped torpedo this offense. Greco could open next summer on PUP.

Browns RG John Greco believes his right foot injury is a Lisfranc sprain, and that he'll likely require surgery.

Injured in Week 12, Greco would be facing a 12-month timetable if he needs a Lisfranc operation. The veteran interior lineman is signed for $975,000 next season. He turns 32 in March.

Browns placed RG John Greco on injured reserve with a sprained foot, ending his season.

Coach Hue Jackson said the injury is to Greco's "mid-foot," suggesting a Lisfranc sprain. Alvin Bailey will replace him at right guard. The Browns have lost both of their starting guards to year-ending foot injuries, having previously placed LG Joel Bitonio on I.R. Greco is under contract with Cleveland through 2017.

He was spotted on crutches with a walking boot following Sunday's loss. He could be headed to injured reserve. Alvin Bailey is the next man up.

Browns RG John Greco suffered a sprained MCL in the Week 15 loss to the Seahawks and will miss the final two weeks of the season.

First-round rookie Cam Erving will he reinserted into the starting lineup between RT Mitchell Schwartz and C Alex Mack. LT Joe Thomas and LG Austin Pasztor round out the rest of the line. Greco, 30, started all 14 games this season, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 37 guard out of 82 qualifiers. Greco has two years left on his five-year contract.

Browns RG John Greco exited Week 15 against the Seahawks with a knee injury.

Greco had his left knee slammed into on a running play in the first quarter. He never returned. Rookie Cam Erving replaced him in the lineup. Greco left the stadium in a brace and is headed for an MRI Monday.

Browns RG John Greco "has taken almost every snap" with the first-team offense.

Greco hasn’t lost any reps to rookie Cameron Erving. The Browns have been giving Erving snaps at left tackle during the preseason, but he should open the year as a swing interior lineman. 30-year-old Greco received positive grades in both run blocking and pass protection from PFF last year.

Browns RG John Greco started the team's preseason opener Saturday night.

Greco opened training camp on the active/PUP list, but is healthy now and played all three of the Browns' first-team possessions. He's clearly ahead of Garrett Gilkey on the depth chart. Greco was a top-30 NFL guard at Pro Football Focus last year. He excelled in pass protection but slipped a bit in the run game.

Browns placed RG John Greco on the active/NFI list

Greco is dealing with an undisclosed injury, and doesn't have a timetable to return. The missed time will allow Garrett Gilkey to get the majority of first-team reps at right guard, with rookie Joel Bitonio getting snaps next to LT Joe Thomas. 29-year-old Greco made 14 starts and graded out positively in pass protection last season, but isn't a lock to keep his starting job in a new offense.

The Browns used John Greco at right guard during their pre-draft minicamp.

Greco primarily played left guard in 2013, but has experience on the right side and may appeal to new OC Kyle Shanahan more there due to his run-blocking prowess. NFL teams like strong run blockers at right guard and right tackle. At the minicamp, Mitchell Schwartz played right tackle with Paul McQuistan at left guard. Joe Thomas and Alex Mack remain entrenched at left tackle and center.

Browns LG John Greco sustained a sprained knee during Sunday's Week 14 loss at New England.

The injury is being called a "minor" MCL sprain. Greco, who has played virtually every snap for the Browns this season, went down in the second quarter and did not return. He was replaced by Jason Pinkston. It's unclear if he'll be available for Week 15.

Browns LG John Greco's five-year contract has a max worth of $13 million if he maintains a starting job.

If Greco plays as well as he did in 2012, it's a steal of a deal for the Browns, who also protected themselves by making the deal worth just $6 million over five seasons if Greco loses his starting job. Just $3 million of the pact is guaranteed. Greco is expected to be Cleveland's starting left guard this season. Shawn Lauvao and Jason Pinkston are competing to start at right guard.

Browns signed OG John Greco to a new five-year contract.

Acquired from the Rams for a seventh-round pick prior to the 2011 season, Greco has developed into a mauling run-blocking guard. He's now locked up through the 2017 season, and the new deal likely solidifies his spot as a starter at one of the guard spots. Jason Pinkston and Shawn Lauvao will compete on the other side. Greco had one year left on his deal at $800,000.

The Akron Beacon-Journal reports Brown OG John Greco appears to be a "front-runner" for one of the starting guard spots.

Greco, Shawn Lauvao, and Jason Pinkston are in a three-way competition for both starting guard positions. Greco received the most first-team reps -- mainly at right guard -- in spring practices, followed by Lauvao and then Pinkston. After starting just four games in his first four seasons, Greco started ten contests last season and was easily Cleveland's best guard.
