Eddie Royal caught six passes for 50 yards in the Chargers' Week 12 win over the Rams.
The 50 yards were Royal's most since Week 4, which tells us all we need to know. He isn't a fantasy option as the Chargers' slot receiver. The Rams were giving San Diego anything it wanted underneath. Nov 23 - 8:07 PM

Eddie Royal secured 2-of-3 targets for 27 yards and rushed once for 15 yards in the Chargers' Week 11 win over the Raiders.

Royal has had some nice moments over the course of the season, but is San Diego's No. 3 receiver behind Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd, and its No. 4 pass option when you include Anthony Gates. He's a WR4/5 in fantasy leagues, and WR4/5s aren't worth rostering during the fantasy football stretch run.
Nov 16 - 8:43 PM

Eddie Royal was held without a catch in San Diego's Week 9 loss to Miami.

Royal was targeted just one times on day where Philip Rivers completed just 12 passes for 123 yards and three interceptions. After a hot start to the season, Royal is barely worth owning in 12- and 14-team leagues.
Nov 2 - 5:21 PM

Eddie Royal caught 3-of-3 targets for 29 yards in San Diego's Week 8 loss to the Broncos.

Royal's predictable fade from his early-season touchdown surge continues unabated. Royal has just nine total grabs for 138 yards and one score over his past four games. Players looking for 12-14 team league value are going to struggle to find it. Royal will score more touchdowns, but they'll be impossible to predict.
Oct 24 - 12:29 AM

Eddie Royal caught 1-of-5 targets for 20 yards in San Diego's Week 7 loss to the Chiefs.

It was Royal's worst game since he posted a 1-20 line in Week 1. Royal now has just six catches for 109 yards over his past three games, and is predictably fading from his late-September outburst. Royal remains a red-zone threat, but his scores are too unpredictable to rely on him as anything other than a dice-roll WR4.
Oct 19 - 7:57 PM

Eddie Royal (elbow) is listed as probable for Week 7.

Royal is over his rib issues, and his elbow injury will not keep him out of Sunday's game. He'll be a WR4/5 against the Chiefs.
Oct 17 - 6:41 PM

Eddie Royal (ribs) is practicing in full for Week 7.

Royal's injury isn't serious. He's good to go as a WR4/5 against the Chiefs.
Oct 16 - 2:58 PM

Eddie Royal (ribs) is practicing Wednesday.

Royal's rib injury isn't considered serious. Barring a setback, he should be fine for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Oct 15 - 2:53 PM

Eddie Royal's ribs ailment is not considered "significant."

According to the Union-Tribune San Diego, Royal could miss "little, if any, time." That still leaves his Week 7 status a little murky, but it will be updated when the Bolts return to practice on Wednesday.
Oct 14 - 1:38 PM

Chargers coach Mike McCoy provided no update on the status of Eddie Royal (ribs) at his Monday presser.

Royal suffered the injury in Sunday's win over Oakland, and never returned. If Royal can't play in Week 7 against the Chiefs, Ladarius Green could get more playing time in two-tight end sets, with McCoy leaning less on three-receiver formations. Keenan Allen could also stand to see a few more targets.
Oct 13 - 4:23 PM

Eddie Royal left Sunday's Week 6 game at Oakland with a rib injury.

He's considered questionable to return. Royal has been replaced by Seyi Ajirotutu in three-receiver packages, although Ladarius Green is playing more in two-tight end sets. Royal kicked off San Diego's scoring Sunday by blowing by the Oakland defense on a go route for a 29-yard touchdown. The Chargers' third receiver also hung on for a tough 20-yard catch late in the first half, outmuscling Raiders S Brandian Ross. Royal is currently on the sideline with a wrap over his side.
Oct 12 - 6:16 PM

Eddie Royal caught three passes for 40 yards in Sunday's Week 5 blowout of the Jets.

Royal predictably comes crashing back to earth after back-to-back multi-touchdown games. Remember that last year, Royal scored five times in the first two weeks before getting a total of three in the next 14 games. The undersized veteran will get a little boost if Malcom Floyd (calf) can't go in Week 6, but he'll be a WR3 at best.
Oct 5 - 7:46 PM

Eddie Royal caught five balls for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers' Week 4 win over Jacksonville.

Royal's role increased with Danny Woodhead and Ladarius Green out of the lineup. On two perfectly designed plays by OC Frank Reich and/or coach Mike McCoy, Royal burned the Jaguars' defense for touchdowns of 43 and 47 yards. This is Royal's second straight two-TD game. Although Royal can't possibly continue to score at this rate, he's earned serious WR3 consideration in Week 5 against the defensive back-deficient Jets. Through four games, Royal is on pace for 68 catches, 944 yards, and 16 touchdowns. Keep in mind Royal was on pace for 20 TDs at this stage last year, but finished with eight.
Sep 28 - 7:51 PM

Eddie Royal caught four passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns against the Bills.

The Chargers' slot man caught a screen for the first score of the game, and brought in a quick slant for a score in the third quarter. Despite the big day, Royal has zero fantasy value outside deep PPR formats. The Chargers get the Jaguars next week.
Sep 21 - 4:50 PM

Eddie Royal caught 7-of-10 targets for 69 yards in the Chargers' Week 2 win over the Seahawks.

Royal did what he does best — play fantasy spoiler, soaking up targets as Keenan Allen dealt with Richard Sherman. Royal's seven-reception day comes after he caught one ball in Week 1. He's a scattershot producer who is never worth the hassle in fantasy leagues.
