Eddie Royal caught four passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns against the Bills.
The Chargers' slot man caught a screen for the first score of the game, and brought in a quick slant for a score in the third quarter. Despite the big day, Royal has zero fantasy value outside deep PPR formats. The Chargers get the Jaguars next week. Sep 21 - 4:50 PM

Eddie Royal caught 7-of-10 targets for 69 yards in the Chargers' Week 2 win over the Seahawks.

Royal did what he does best — play fantasy spoiler, soaking up targets as Keenan Allen dealt with Richard Sherman. Royal's seven-reception day comes after he caught one ball in Week 1. He's a scattershot producer who is never worth the hassle in fantasy leagues.

The toe injury that plagued Eddie Royal last season is completely healed.

Royal injured his toe in Week 6 last year and ended up only missing one game, but barely practiced. He's since gotten healthy and restructured his contract, ensuring he'll be a role player for Philip Rivers once again. Fantasy owners shouldn't be betting on anything close to the fluky eight touchdowns Royal scored last year, especially with Malcom Floyd (neck) back. Royal is off the standard-league fantasy radar.

Chargers WR Eddie Royal has restructured his contract.

Royal was previously scheduled to earn a $4.5 million base salary and count $6 million against the cap in the final year of his deal. It's likely he took a straight pay cut and will be given the opportunity to earn the difference back in incentives. Royal is coming off a solid year that saw him reel in eight touchdowns, but he's ideally nothing more than a No. 3 or 4 receiver who can help as a return man.
Mar 3 - 7:56 PM

When asked about Eddie Royal's $4.5 million salary, GM Tom Telesco said, "we've got a decision to make on a number of guys."

Royal remains a candidate for release. Working in his favor is the Chargers' lack of wide receiver options behind Keenan Allen, the solid play he put on tape in 2013 and his ability to contribute in the punt return game. Still, $4.5 million is a lot for a below average NFL receiver. It's a decision Telesco figures to grapple with.
Feb 20 - 12:54 PM

ESPN Chargers reporter Eric Williams says Eddie Royal is "looking good" to stick on the 2014 roster.

Royal is owed $4.5 million in 2014, so he's certainly a cap casualty candidate. The good news for him is that the Chargers are weak at wideout behind No. 1 Keenan Allen. Vincent Brown flopped in his big chance, Malcom Floyd is coming off a serious neck injury and oft-injured Danario Alexander is a free agent. Royal caught 47 passes for 631 yards with a fluky eight touchdowns.
Feb 6 - 11:15 AM

Eddie Royal caught one pass for 30 yards in San Diego's Divisional Round playoff loss to the Broncos.

The Broncos used Champ Bailey at slot corner between Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Chris Harris, meaning Bailey frequently matched up with Royal around the line of scrimmage. Royal is owed $4.5 million in 2014, too much for his limited skill set. The ex-Bronco will be an offseason cap casualty candidate.
Jan 12 - 8:10 PM

Eddie Royal (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's Divisional Round game.

Despite the "Q" tag, Royal is expected to play and start in Sunday evening's bout with Denver. He recently passed Vincent Brown on the depth chart.
Jan 10 - 3:10 PM

Eddie Royal (toe) is not practicing Wednesday.

Royal is in zero danger of missing Sunday's Divisional Round game against the Broncos. He'll start opposite Keenan Allen but is no higher than the No. 4 option for Philip Rivers.
Jan 8 - 2:44 PM

Eddie Royal finished Sunday's Wild Card round win over the Bengals with a 33-yard catch and nine-yard run.

Royal was silent until midway through the third quarter, when he beat LCB Dre Kirkpatrick for a 33-yard bomb down the right sideline to set up Ladarius Green's four-yard touchdown catch. Now playing ahead of Vincent Brown, Royal will enter the Divisional Round "competing" with Green and Ryan Mathews to be Philip Rivers' No. 4 pass option behind Keenan Allen, Danny Woodhead, and Antonio Gates.
Jan 5 - 4:45 PM

Eddie Royal (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's Wild Card game against the Bengals.

Royal is fully expected to play despite not practicing at all this week. Even with CB Terence Newman (knee) doubtful for Sunday's game, Royal is not a recommended option in daily leagues.
Jan 3 - 8:35 PM

Eddie Royal (toe) remained out of Chargers practice on both Thursday and Friday.

Royal rarely practices, but is fully expected to suit up for Sunday's Wild Card game. Royal's red-zone prowess makes him a boom-or-bust option in daily leagues.
Jan 2 - 2:51 PM

Eddie Royal (toe) is not practicing Wednesday.

Royal likely won't practice at all this week as he continues to deal with his toe injury. He's not in any danger of missing Sunday's Wild Card game against Cincinnati.
Jan 1 - 2:48 PM

Eddie Royal caught three passes for 34 yards and a touchdown in San Diego's Week 17 win over Kansas City.

Slot receiver Royal opened the season with a flurry of fluky red-zone touchdowns, but predictably came back to Earth and settled in as San Diego's No. 3 wideout, behind Keenan Allen and Vincent Brown. Royal finished the regular season with 47 catches for 631 yards. He'll be an obvious candidate to be overdrafted in 2014 fantasy leagues based on 2013 stats. We will recommend to stay away from him.

Eddie Royal (toe) was a non-participant in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Despite not practicing all week and being listed as questionable, Royal is on track to play in Sunday's game against the Chiefs. He's averaging just five catches for 38 yards over the last three weeks and remains off the fantasy radar.
