The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs reports the Bears are expected to release Eddie Royal.
Signed to a three-year, $15 million deal two years ago, Royal was a massive flop in Chicago, missing 14-of-32 games and catching 70 total passes for 607 yards and three touchdowns. Recovering from toe surgery, Royal should be cut once he can pass a physical. Royal's release will save the Bears $5 million. Mar 6 - 12:25 PM

Bears placed WR Eddie Royal on injured reserve with a toe injury, ending his season.

It's an overdue ending for what's been another injury-wrecked year for Royal in Chicago. Signed for $5 million next season, Royal enters the offseason having appeared in just 18 of 32 possible games as a Bear. There's a zero percent chance he's back at that price, and he probably won't be back at all. Going on 31, Royal can no longer stay healthy.

Eddie Royal (toe) is listed as out for Week 15.

Royal is probably going to get cut in the offseason.

Eddie Royal (toe) remained sidelined on Wednesday.

We'll next update this again when Royal actually does practice.

Eddie Royal (toe) is doubtful for Week 14 against the Lions.

Royal didn't practice this week and is likely headed for his third straight absence. Cameron Meredith and Josh Bellamy will be Chicago's top receiving weapons in Week 14.

Eddie Royal (toe) remained sidelined Thursday.

Royal, who is no longer effective, is always injured.

Eddie Royal (toe) is not practicing Wednesday.

Royal has been a total disaster since signing a three-year deal with Chicago before last season. He's been hurt far more often than not. Royal missed Week 13. Josh Bellamy and Cameron Meredith are the Nos. 1 and 2 receivers.

Eddie Royal (toe) is inactive for Week 13 against the 49ers.

Royal wasn't expected to play after not practicing all week. Matt Barkley spread it around against the Titans last week, but Cameron Meredith should see the biggest increase in targets. The rest of Chicago's inactives are QB Jay Cutler, S Adrian Amos, DB De'Vante Bausby, DL Jonathan Bullard, OL Cornelius Edison, and DB Delondre Hall.

Eddie Royal (toe) is questionable for Week 13 against the 49ers.

Royal didn't practice this week and seems like a long shot for Sunday. He actually had negative yards in his last game. Royal won't be a fantasy option even if he suits up this week.
Fri, Dec 2, 2016 01:54:00 PM

Eddie Royal (toe) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice.

It's not a good sign for his Week 13 availability. Royal can be safely ruled out if he doesn't return to at least a limited practice on Friday.

Eddie Royal (toe) is not practicing Wednesday.

Royal has been battling the toe for weeks. He'll be fine to face the 49ers.
Wed, Nov 30, 2016 02:31:00 PM

Eddie Royal (toe) is listed as questionable for Week 12 against the Titans despite not practicing all week.

It would be surprising if Royal suited up, but he is a veteran who probably does not need the practice reps. Even if he plays, Royal is not fantasy viable with Matt Barkley under center.

Eddie Royal (toe) remained sidelined Thursday.

The always-injured receiver is looking doubtful for Sunday's horrorshow with Matt Barkley under center.
Thu, Nov 24, 2016 03:38:00 PM

Eddie Royal (toe) didn't practice on Wednesday.

Of course. The Bears are already laughably thin on offense with Alshon Jeffery (PED suspension), Jay Cutler (shoulder) and Zach Miller (foot) all sidelined. Losing Royal would just be adding insult to injury (literally). Tennessee's defense should be a mighty-fine streamer this week.
Wed, Nov 23, 2016 05:49:00 PM

Eddie Royal caught 2-of-3 targets for 13 yards in the Bears' Week 11 loss to the Giants.

The Bears needed more from their slot receiver with Alshon Jeffery suspended and Zach Miller injured. Royal will have some 5-6 catch games, but has absolutely zero upside in fantasy leagues.
