Titans LB Xavier Adibi has been diagnosed with stretched ligaments in his knee.
That's not a good thing for a special teamer. If Adibi's injury is at all serious, he'll likely be sent to injured reserve. Mon, Nov 5, 2012 04:59:00 PM

Titans LB Xavier Adibi was forced from Tennessee's Week 9 game against the Titans with a sprained knee, and is questionable to return.

Adibi got rolled up on a return, and is likely done for the afternoon. Signed just 10 days ago, Adibi was seeing most of his time on special teams.

Titans signed LB Xavier Adibi.

Zac Diles (leg) will be placed on injured reserve, Colin McCarthy is still getting over his ankle injury and Patrick Bailey broke a rib in Week 7. Adibi has 68 games of NFL experience under his belt and can help with linebacker depth and special teams.

Bears waived or released LB Xavier Adibi, CB Jonathan Wilhite, WRs Joe Anderson, Terriun Crump and Brittan Golden, OL Cory Brandon, James Brown and A.J. Greene, DBs Cornelius Brown, Isaiah Frey and Greg McCoy, G Ricky Henry, S Mark LeGree, DT Jordan Miller, TE Brandon Venson and DE Aston Whiteside.

A special teamer, Adibi was signed just two weeks ago. Wilhite saw heavy snaps for the Broncos early in 2011 before being phased out down the stretch.

Bears signed LBs Xavier Adibi and K.C. Asiodu.

A four-year veteran, Adibi spent four games on the Vikings' active roster last season, but was held off the stat-sheet. Vikings' beat writer Tom Pelissero believed Adibi looked "done." Asiodu was signed by the Packers following the lockout, but didn't crack the 53-man roster.

Vikings claimed LB Xavier Adibi off waivers from the Texans.

The Raiders also put in a claim. Adibi made eight starts in three seasons with Houston. He recorded 14 tackles, two sacks, and three QB hits in exhibition action, including five tackles against the Vikes in the preseason finale. He'll start out as a reserve linebacker and special teamer in Minnesota.

Coach Gary Kubiak announced Wednesday that Xavier Adibi will be the Texans' starting strong-side linebacker until Brian Cushing returns.

"Xavier's the guy," confirmed Kubiak. Adibi will be a big downgrade from "Cush" in terms of run support, but the Texans shouldn't lose too much in coverage. For Week 1, Joseph Addai remains a rock-solid RB2 starter.

Texans OLB Xavier Adibi (groin) made his preseason debut in Thursday's preseason finale.

Adibi made four tackles while playing about 30 snaps. Considering Brian Cushing's four-game suspension, it's big news for the Texans. Adibi still has a chance to start at strong-side linebacker come Week 1, although he's behind Kevin Bentley and rookie Darryl Sharpton right now.

Texans OLB Xavier Adibi (groin) has been cleared to resume practicing.

He missed almost all of camp, and may have fallen too far behind Kevin Bentley and impressive rookie Darryl Sharpton in the race to start in place of suspended Brian Cushing. Adibi will try to gain ground the next two weeks.

Texans LB Xavier Adibi suffered a setback in his recovery from a groin injury.

Adibi has been out since early August, costing him a chance to start the first four regular season games while Brian Cushing serves a suspension. The Texans may have to roll with rookie Darryl Sharpton on the strong side.

Texans SLB Xavier Adibi (groin) is expected to be out "a few weeks."

Brian Cushing, suspended for the first four games of the season, has resumed taking first-team snaps. Should the injury force Adibi to miss regular-season action, veterans Danny Clark and Kevin Bentley will fill in.

Texans SLB Xavier Adibi is out indefinitely with what coach Gary Kubiak termed Wednesday "a very good groin strain."

Kubiak summed up Adibi's three-year career well: "It seems like every time he gets on the brink, something happens." Adibi was supposed to start the first four regular season games with Brian Cushing suspended. The strong-side job could now go to one of veterans Danny Clark and Kevin Bentley.

The Texans will move Xavier Adibi from weak-side to strong-side linebacker in preparation for Brian Cushing's four-game suspension.

Zach Diles will stay on the weak side, instead of returning to his old SAM post for the season's first month. Though athletic, Adibi will likely be a liability in run defense if he beats out Danny Clark and rookie Daryl Sharpton.

Xavier Adibi and fourth-round pick Darryl Sharpton are expected to compete for the weak-side linebacker job while Brian Cushing is suspended.

Zac Diles is going to shift back to the strong side for the first month of the season and the Texans are expected to sign a veteran backup for the position. Adibi will almost certainly get the nod over the raw Sharpton on the weak side, but it's obviously a big downgrade for the Texans' defense.

In addition to Chris Brown, Texans OLB Xavier Adibi and FS Eugene Wilson were also ill Sunday morning.

Wilson was held out, but Adibi was able to play special teams. Coach Gary Kubiak isn't ruling out the highly contagious Swine Flu, which put tight end Anthony Hill in the hospital last week.
