Bears coach John Fox said CB Tracy Porter will get looks at nickel back in camp.
"I think he’s smart, he knows how to cover, and he’s got excellent ball skills," Fox said. "He can play in all three spots on the sub defenses. So we’ll wait and see how it shakes out." Porter was expected to serve as Washington's primary slot corner last season, but hamstring and shoulder injuries limited him to three games. Porter has been a liability in coverage the last several seasons, but he could find a role in the Bears' underwhelming secondary. Jun 13 - 9:23 AM

Bears signed CB Tracy Porter to a one-year contract.

Washington cut ties with the injury-prone corner last month. Porter is most remembered for his clutch interceptions against Brett Favre and Peyton Manning in the 2009 playoffs. The 29-year-old hasn't received a positive grade from Pro Football Focus since 2010 and is unlikely to help the Bears' secondary.

Redskins released CB Tracy Porter.

The move saves the Redskins about $2.3 million in cap space. Signed to a two-year, $6 million contract last offseason, Porter played in three games for the Redskins before missing the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. Highly injury-prone throughout his career, Porter has played a full 16-game season just once. Porter turns 29 in August and has been a liability on the field recently.

Redskins placed CB Tracy Porter on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.

Porter sprained his AC joint in Week 12. The Redskins' No. 3 corner played just 89 snaps this season. Andrew Luck and the Colts' passing game are just licking their chops at the Week 13 matchup awaiting them on Sunday.

Redskins CB Tracy Porter (sprained AC joint) could miss "significant time."

The Redskins' No. 3 cornerback, Porter could be headed to injured reserve if he's dealing with anything other than a 1-2 week injury.

Redskins CB Tracy Porter has been cleared for training camp.

Porter missed the entire offseason program recovering from shoulder surgery. Now that he's been cleared, he'll get the majority of snaps at slot corner, with David Amerson and DeAngelo Hall starting outside.

Redskins CB Tracy Porter (shoulder) is expected to be ready for training camp.

Porter missed the entire offseason program recovering from shoulder surgery. The Redskins "expect him to be fine" when camp opens later this month. Porter is the favorite for the slot role behind David Amerson and DeAngelo Hall. Rookie Bashaud Breeland will likely start the season as the No. 4 corner.

Redskins CB Tracy Porter underwent shoulder surgery this offseason.

Porter is still recovering from the surgery, but should be ready for camp. Signed to a two-year, $6 million deal in March, Porter is penciled in as the Redskins' nickel corner. He could face competition for snaps from rookie Bashaud Breeland, which would allow DeAngelo Hall to cover the slot in sub-packages.

Redskins agreed to terms with CB Tracy Porter, formerly of the Raiders, on a two-year, $6 million deal.

Porter, 28 in August, started all 16 games for Oakland in 2013, playing 1,016 snaps. It was the first time in his career Porter played a full season, and the results weren't pretty. He graded out 105th in Pro Football Focus' 110-man cornerback rankings, and an abominable 106th in pass coverage. Porter has experience at both outside and slot corner. With DeAngelo Hall and David Amerson on the perimeter, Porter will likely replace Josh Wilson at nickel.

Free agent CB Tracy Porter is visiting the Giants.

Porter has been getting burned in coverage for years, but NFL teams still seem to see potential in him. He's 27 years old with experience covering the slot and playing outside. He'd enter a camp battle to start with the G-Men.

Raiders CB Tracy Porter (concussion) is practicing Wednesday.

Porter suffered a concussion in the third quarter of Monday night's game, but was able to practice on a limited basis. He's on track to gain full medical clearance for Week 4 against the Redskins.

Raiders CB Tracy Porter has been diagnosed with a concussion.

Porter sustained the injury when he got kneed in the head by teammate Lamarr Houston on Monday night. If he can't go in Week 4, the Raiders would be forced to move Mike Jenkins into the slot, leaving D.J. Hayden and Phillip Adams outside. It would be great news for Robert Griffin III as the Redskins play at Oakland next week.

Raiders RCB Tracy Porter left Monday night's Week 3 game against the Broncos with a head injury.

Porter was hurt while tackling Demaryius Thomas on the final play of the third quarter. Phillip Adams is the next man up in the Oakland secondary.

The Raiders fear CB Tracy Porter suffered a severe right groin injury in Friday night's preseason game against the Saints.

Not only do the Raiders have a pathetic starting lineup, they have zero depth. So losing an entrenched top-three cornerback like Porter could force them to put someone like converted running back Taiwan Jones into the lineup. 32-year-old Joselio Hanson would be another candidate for increased snaps.

ESPN's Bill Williamson thinks the Raiders see Tracy Porter as their No. 3 corner.

That scenario assumes first-round rookie D.J. Hayden is healthy enough to start opposite former Cowboys first-rounder Mike Jenkins. Charles Woodson will be the free safety. It's actually not a bad secondary on paper, but they're going to be asked to cover for way too long. The Raiders' pass rush is abysmal.
